Paul, your videos never fail to impress. Big thanks for the help with tinted clears! Loving the tinted clear coat tips. Thanks for the awesome guidance.
Nice job 👍 this jobs are straight forward if you apply it right.. i use to tint car headlights alot Of them and would apply two coats of it to get the desired colour then clear over it its actually the same method, i recently completed a nissan fuji sunset red tinted clear and came it out lovely you have to give nice even coat no more no less on each panel your painting only then it will look the same colour then you can seal it in with the normal clear job done.
@@paulphillipspaintwork yh transparent base they all have there pros n cons just like with any scheme just need to learn to adapt keep it up your work is good 👍
@Ontheroadbrogymgo thanks, I think they do add a wow factor to certain colours and that helps the dealerships sell cars. But they didn't think about the people who have to repair them.
Thanks, I listen to the Automotive artistry podcast from Miguel Perez and Oile olie paintz haz one too. But I mostly listen to mob stuff on TH-cam and podcasts on there.

HI Paul. Nice job my friend. One thing I noticed is the gun seems to lay down a lot of material fast and atomize seemingly well. I was expecting to see a more "name brand" gun. I might have to check that brand out. I am referencing the Porphis.
@n.elliott9122 They are great guns, @oile_olie_paintz has sove good videos with them. He left his in the gun wash for a week and everything was perfect afterwards seals an everything 👌and they are a great price so I tool a punt on them and I really like them. I'm using 1.3s in both so they put out a little more paint as I was using a 1.2 before. But I'd highly recommend them.
Hi Paul, amazing job on this 3 stage mate that blue looks a very nice colour and the tinted clear went on nice but the final coat of clear using the PRD-717 just finished it off👌I had a look on my scheme and for this 3 stage the mid coat is a tinted binder which all of them seem to be in the Kapci scheme but it doesn't bother me as I've done a few 3 stage colours along with the Mazda 46V and the Ford electric orange. Can you tell me what pressure you use on your PRD-717 mate as this gun needs less pressure compared to the usual 2 bar🤔👍
@JohnWD40TC02 thanks mate, I don't think many paint schemes do tinted clears this way most seem to be binders. I like to spray my porphis at 26-27 psi so just under 2 bar. Play around with it, I think I had it at 24psi the other day, I was using a different clear coat and that worked well. 💪
Ok thanks Paul, I've seen a few different numbers being quoted for this gun but I think it's often better to take them as a starting point to find your own setup👌
@@JohnWD40TC02 definitely, I always start at 2 bar as that's what most paint manufacturers recommend and go from there. How are you getting on with yours?
What lacquer do you use as im looking for a extreme gloss which doesnt disperse the light from say 1 foot away, ideally a hard lacquer as i find the soft easy polish ones are the ones im not liking the ginish on they look like plastic and not glass
@surreysideautohaus3418 this is Spies hekker 8700. I really like Spies 8034. But It depends on how much you want to spend Spies is expensive sikkens superior autoclear is incredible but expensive kapci 6050 is a great too and easier on the pocket. But for personal jobs I use Multi-Mix's Multi-clear 2.
Painted for 25yrs. To close with pearls and some matallic is a No no! Painting is a system. Find a system that works for you and keep it. The main thing KEEP IT CLEAN! Prep, prep again, when your done preping prep some more. As a painter myself it’s quick to see he knows what he’s doing. Here in U.S. it’s usually a base coat clear or a tri coat Pearl. Same with number of coats. Usually 2 coats of Pearl. But always spray it out and check it. Ya never know. I did have a denlai truck that I had to put 4 coats to make it look proper. Don’t over think it. Don’t be intimidated. Make sure you mix as it instructs and and give for it. And every shop is different. What works for some may not work for others. Keep it simple as possible and go for it.
@curtishoward5584 dude that's awesome thanks, like you say keep it simple. And I think tds's are under rated. Do your spray outs as per the tds and when they match paint the car. 👍
@@paulphillipspaintwork You got it ! Here in U.S. a problem I see alot is so many after market companies offering a OEM paint code mix. You give them the code for your car and they mix it. If the customer is a beginner he may not know to put certain colors over certain colors. You can’t spray the torch red on my car over black panels ,uniform or not. Or that there is 5 variables to his code. Because of diversity hiring a moron is behind the counter So the customer goes home with very costly paint only to muck it up something awful. with so many variables they often pick the wrong one from chip book. So for a beginner it can be confusing. It’s always good seeing someone give good advice from experience. I wish I had it when I started out, I made plenty mistakes. Your in UK???
