Douglas Rushkoff coined such expressions as "viral media," "digital natives" and "social currency," and advises governments, communities and businesses on the impact of technology on society's future. Named one of "the world’s ten most influential thinkers" by MIT, Rushkoff won the Marshal McLuhan Award for media writing and the Neil Postman award for Public Intellectual Activity.
Rushkoff hosts the Team Human podcast, made four PBS Frontline documentaries including Generation Like and The Merchants of Cool, and wrote many bestselling books including Team Human, Present Shock, Program or Be Programmed and Throwing Rocks at the Google Bus. He founded the Laboratory for Digital Humanism at CUNY/Queens College, where he is professor of media theory and digital economics.

@@qobiotacain7734 maybe he does but from my experience it took omega a week to make the cds after the event was over so these guys would have been gone already. I suppose it’s perfectly reasonable to assume they have copies though 😅

I spent my life jumping from one shitty alcoholic father figure to another. I recently told my girlfriend that I need to meet someone who thinks like me, but is like 30 years older than me. We need father figures and elders. Recently I remembered that grant Morrison exists. Right infront of my nose the whole time. Go figure.

Hi Douglas get Grant on again this year, update the message to the current anti vax sentiment and the potential for civil disorder. How does faith in the spiritual lead to unscientific belief and a fracture within society which may never heal. If this is an apocalypse we are living in, was the Arab spring a premonition of what is coming to Europe and America. Were we fed psi ops through mass media and 24 hour news to ready us for the coming desensitisation which they feel is necessary. Will social media be the catalyst for the coming civil unrest. Is it gamified? How do we counter Tradionalism, does it need rational debate or asymmetric cultural tactics. Is playing capitalisms popularity game the only method we can achieve acceptance to a fairer humanist future which is lived at the local level.

I got good news for ya, we still want the same thing! It’s happening in different circles in different ways and those ideas permeate outward…. For me I see it in the rave community that I’ve been a part of for awhile, it’s like all the fringe ideals together, under a microscope, we are slowly but surely remembering our greater body while allowing our individuality to fill in the gaps, creating an entirely new organism… it’s a new era and new paradigms are coming to the surface… but we are just the hippies of our age, still on the same path.

Lovely hearing Morrison in 2020 and glad to see he remains ever-loyal for his love for the comicbook medium over TV shows with the former being a better medium for auteurs over the committee-approach of the latter. The Invisibles is an IP of his that deserves a show adaptation regardless, although a lot of the visual subtext, sigil magick and the whole hyper-sigil concept can only be uniquely conveyed in paper and ink. Always a pleasure to listen to Grant! Cheers from a gigantic fan in Bangalore, India!
PS. Qanon is mostly right (though the Right/Left binary is foolish and they're part of the same organism) and I suspect the reality of the powers that be are not unlike Grant's Archons of the Outer Church in intent at least.

Whatever half "truths" Q may illuminate, Qanon is almost certainly an intelligence op. Look how they've gotten alex jones to flip the martial law script...in 3 years he's now converted his audience to support martial law under trump, the same militia types that the feds were trying to reign in over 25 years. Now they're future friekorps for whatever trigger phrases Q sends out. Expect massive uptick in political violence from that camp next year.
Beyond that, Q is nakedly an induction attempt to mass initiate the greater mainstream into Ariosophy...look at the qmaps, look at the rhetoric and some of the influencers, its Nazi Mysticism, Vril, and "Coming Race" bullshit all over again, synthesized with the active ingredients of New Age self-help and Ultranationalism (yes, neo-gnosticism is just as reactionary and fasciod as the church it turns out). Theyve put every bit of countercultural artifice, conspiratainment, and neo spirituality into a narrative blender... and the result is an impressive and Terrifying feat of cognitive infiltration...its a psychic virus of near algorithmic, AI-driven precision fired through Google entrainment/clickbait-loops like a machinegun. Its mkultra meets "Stand Alone Complex"

Ps…I had a full on NDE…flatlined three times….its not something that dmt in the living mind can approximate…was it fabulous? Well it was beyond conception, and beyond fabulous…no such thing as heaven or hell, as they are polarised concepts…and polarity is energy…aka…it is only the tension between separation of space and time being held apart by quantum exclusion principle and gravity to collapse (Wolfgang Pauli), and that results in matter…but consciousness is beyond matter, and hence beyond energy states and beyond separation…Quantum Physics is paradoxically not explicable…the phrase “if you think you understand quantum physics, then you really don’t” means that it is not possible to comprehend through any rational logic…because logic is binary duality, hence polarity, whilst quantum physics is a paradigm outside of that system….physics says its absolutely possible for a man to make an elephant disappear, and that there is indeed a high probability of that happening, at the universal scale, even if the probability at a single moment is extremely low…ie everything is real…not just in imagination…and you can touch it…but you then have to ask…what is touch? Starts leading to Quatum Bayesianism!
If we try to grasp the non dual, the quantum, we fight it and it becomes an electric writhing slippery eel, so what we have do to is build a tolerance for the purely irrational, and that is then the “holding” of that state…it’s actually a complete letting go…the holding is only holding space..
This is actually the approach to all the spiritual texts…so it’s not only chaos magick that approaches reality this way…
Ie…The Tao that can be named, is not the real Tao…..but the Tao, is very real…can only be experienced in true abandonment of polarity…ie abandonment of rationalisation! Yes that is possible, and actually is unconsciously happening all of them “time”
In terms of tree of life, and Kabbalah, it also represents the separation into energy states…and indeed they must be explored in this form…but as the whole…it becomes beyond states! In terms of Hindu mysticism, and a great exploration for this is The Isha Upanishad…

I realize I'm like 25 years behind and no idea how I found Grant Morrison but it led me here and finally to your keynote at DisInfoCon.
