Do you ever get ADHD paralysis or any ADHD symptoms where you it’s hard for you to start? Can we got a video on how you overcome these problems? As someone who has ADHD but get overwhelmed quickly and fail to start task I need done advice.
I have never had a problem with starting. Following through was always my issue. A little trick I learned with starting was scheduling something, and then when I got to my time block I set aside for doing something, I would count down from 5. Once I hit zero, I do the task I have scheduled. I became OCD about following through with my count downs.
I just start, whether is 3am or 3pm. I learnt that I need to just do otherwise I'll keep making excuses. And my future is heavily on the line, I can't let ADHD continue to get the best of me... I wish I could start with a solid routine like most people but I guess I'll build it along the way. I personally need to get comfortable doing things before I can get comfortable knowing when do it, learning to fall in love with the tasks. Or at the very least getting comfortable with them and getting to know my way in, out or around them.
I just try my best to snap myself out of it, sometimes I cry while typing or reading. Like I cry because it physically hurts not to do anything else, no matter how much my brain really wants to and then I get used it ten mins later. I've just allowed myself to be an embarrassing mess while doing regular tasks that people think I should be able to do with ease. I do what works for me, so you find your own version of things that works for you. Like cleaning your shoe with a toothbrush as a challenge while listening to a funny podcast and writing a project proposal... untill I see the other tasks I'm doing as distracting and gradually do them less or eliminate them one by one and boom, project proposal is done... and I can continue my work or do other things while listening to the podcast that can atleast help my day be more productive. or even just take time to chill and celebrate my win with a snack. Deep down you know what works for you, trust me. You have your own unique system, embrace it, continue to optimize it and shut everyone's voice out about how you should or shouldn't do things, including your own voice. Just get it done. A little everyday is wayyyy better than nothing at all.
@@Ultralined that is literally all we can do. We shouldn't feel like we need to be fixed. I lean into it. I think of it as a super power that only a few can relate to.
