    I’m in the process to buy a V7 for my wife (for me as well) as her first big bike and definitely you sold me on the crash bars. Good review, Thanks!

    Very good explanations.
    I didn't realize that crash bars could improve the bike structure.
    Thanks for sharing this kind of informations ✌

      Thank you for your feedback! It obviously depends on the frame design and where the bars mount to. But in this case they do make a discernible difference. I appreciate you!

    Lovely bike good story. Just one thing I'd like to add: Forget about the bike for a second, good crash bars could save your leg.

    is there like an install video? I just bought the same crashbar for my Guzzi Stone.

    • @TexMexStrada
      @TexMexStrada  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not that I’m aware of. The install is fairly straight forward but with one major “watch out!”, and that is supporting the engine as you remove the lower engine bolt. I recommend a car jack and a wooden block to give you both stability and flexibility. Another good tip is, on the frame mount/brace, to do one bolt after the other, so that way you don’t accidentally drop/shift/crack the frame/engine. You will need a 17mm open ended wrench for those bolts/nuts, and you need a skinny one, (read: high quality one) as there is very little room between the engine and the frame brace bolts. Otherwise the instructions do a decent job of explaining the process. I am far from a professional mechanic, and I was able to install it on my own without much trouble. Just don’t rush it, take your time and be methodical.
      I hope this helps!

    Hey there, I just bought these, but I think someone made an error and sent me one guard for the V7, and one guard for the V9. The left and right are very different (one sticks out a lot more). Can you confirm both sides are the same for you?

    • @TexMexStrada
      @TexMexStrada  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! If you mean in terms of width, both sides are the same. As the cylinders on the V7 are offset, they will look a little different on the bike. When you line them up in the garage, do they meet up correctly at the front frame brace?

      Muchten Thank you for your question! I got them through motomachines.com (they are the U.S. Importer) but you may also be able to get them through other websites or Moto Guzzi dealers like AF1 in Austin, TX. I hope this helps!

      @@TexMexStrada Do you have the SKU that you ordered? I want to get some for my '18 V7 III Carbon, but it seems like there are different models for different years of manufacture and I want to make sure I get the right one.

    • @TexMexStrada
      @TexMexStrada  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Connor! Good Question. I ordered SKU 501.550.00.01. Now, for the Carbon, H&B seems to recommend 501.553.00.01 (assuming you also want black). I have no idea what the difference is to be honest, as it seem that they both use the same set of installation instructions. Yet, my almost 10 yrs of living in Germany taught me that German engineers usually have a good reason to make these kind of differentiations, so I'd say use the SKU that matches your bike.
      I know that the Carbon has a different tail than the Stone, but wasn't aware of the front frame differing as well. Maybe it is a paint hue difference? If you are getting the same SKU as mine, I'd recommend to, just in case, make sure the vendor allows for free returns in case there is a difference after all.
      Sorry I can't give you a more specific answer. I looked at the documentation and pictures online and couldn't tell a difference, I guess the devil may be in the details.

    how bad did the handlebars get damaged? The clutch lever? Did it bend either of them?

    • @TexMexStrada
      @TexMexStrada  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your follow up! I had the OEM handlebars at the time. The bars did not get bent, but tone of the bolts attaching the riser to the triple-clamp did. (The handlebar actually turned far enough to hit the gas tank, made a small chip, but no dent).
      The dealer said that was by design, that way you only have to replace a bolt or two rather than having to bend back (and thereby weaken) the handlebar itself.
      I hope this helps!

    Great review thanks. I just bought and fitted the same bars and they look good. Did you find them not symmetrical? Mine seem a bit further from the cylinder on one side than the other.

    • @eitanbentovim7750
      @eitanbentovim7750 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      i have the same problem. The seller told me that the motoguzzi is not built evenly but its hard for me to believe that and im very not happy with the end result. Untill your comment i have never saw someone with the same problem, i will probably write directly to the company to get some more explanations.

    • @TexMexStrada
      @TexMexStrada  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching and your kind words! The bars are symmetrical, the engine is not. The cylinders are offset, so you will have a bigger gap between the crashbar and the cylinder head on one side. How are they performing so far? Did you also feel the improved handling?

    • @motorbikesgary
      @motorbikesgary 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TexMexStrada Yes I read about that, so I took a straight edge out and the cylinders are definitely offset; I think MG did it to reduce vibration. But the design is so good you don't notice unless you look really close. As for the handling, at the same time I fitted Hagon rear shocks, so the handling has definitely improved, but I assumed that was the shocks. Now the bike goes much faster round bends without wanting to run wide and is more planted on rough roads, but less comfortable! I notice though, pushing the bike around, the centre of gravity has shifted down a bit and that might not be a bad thing.

      @eitanbentovim7750 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TexMexStrada tnx for answering, you are right, i got the same answer at the MG garage, i just think it is important to mention this while doing a review, hopefully others will follow the comments. I was not noticing any change in handling but then again didn't do too much riding before installing the bars.
