I live in Canada & I couldn't be happier that we've legalized it. I've always used it for medical reasons & a lot of times it's been the only way I've found any relief from the pain. Over the past 20yrs buying through the black market, there have been numerous times where I've suddenly found myself in some pretty risky situations with some really sketchy people. The bikers especially scared me. Plus, it would always make me super paranoid to have to be constantly watching over my back for the cops. Never was there ever much of a selection (if any at all). Usually I would just end up buying whatever I could get, but not what was necessarily always what was good. Since times have changed, I now buy wholesale online. This way I can sit back & relax while I shop for the strain & strength that I need. The process could not be anymore efficient & it's a million times safer. In fact, the only interaction I need to ever have now, is at my front door when I sign to get my pkg. from the mailman (& I don't even have to get dressed for that).👌
Demand for medical Marijuana is the medicine high quality medicine for pain that the pill can’t relive. Because the pill is out of reach the government ruined my recovery by letting the opioid crisis happen and they profit!
The black market has changed considerably from the days of meeting dudes in gas station parking lots and dealing with bikers. At least in the US. Most serious old school smokers prefer it. There is selection now and it's half the price.
The fact that the plant was a solution for your pain has nothing to do with teenagers who start using it and end up on c0caine. The 'let it be' attitude has proven wrong many times, with good people being destroyed by drug5s. The point is: people are different, and better to be safe than sorry. People get hurt, badly, by drug5. Around 15 days ago, a Canadian teenager was arrested for saying that there are two genders, but concerning drug5s, Canada is as I said, "let it be". The fact that the cartels are so comfortable growing Marijuana inside the United States, in our national forest speaks volume. Especially about the war on drugs and the DEA! cartels wouldn't be so comfortable doing such if they weren't assured the DEA, HSI, FBI and CIA wouldn't stop them
Don't know if u are aware, but CIA doesn't do operations in the USA. They have their lapdogs in the fbi. The fbi doesn't prioritize drugs. Not sure who hsi is. Of course with the open border, the deported weed growers are back the same day
It's sad watching state after state having to promise all this tax money to save every budget problem. Some for the veterans, some for the schools, some for senior services, some for law enforcement. We shouldn't be having to bribe these people to have back what never should have been taken away in the first place.
In my day it was sad watching the police chase pot smokers around like cockroaches. Makes me sick to think how a government has treated people for using a plant given to us by our creator.
I concur. Frankly, what the government, at every echelon, is doing is not only ineffective, but, unconstitutional. The Founding Fathers must be rolling over in their graves.
Yup until the lumber industry realized that they're going to lose money because hemp grows faster and is stronger than trees. On a side I do love the original movie reefer madness.
Anslinger had J. Edgar Hoover slide it into the bill written to ban machine guns. People voted to make it illegal without realizing they had. The government hasn't changed much. The infrastructure bill 1.7 trillion dollars has 12 billion earmarked for infrastructure. The balance is going to them and their donors.
If the legislation for cannbis regulation was well written, black market would go away. It's the states that refuse to decriminalize it that are driving the black market (and associated loss of tax revenues as well as supporting human rights violations).
Big business won't let that happen. You would not believe what it takes to become legal in California. It is totally ignorant. To tell you the truth I don't see how anybody who is legal is making any money. A few weeks ago I saw a report that said 98 percent of legal growers lost money last year.
Dont forget the residual army of private growers for said market who refuse to go get a marketable career in a different field. Growing is too beneficial to just quit. I have root salve that heals. Use every part of this plant, good for everyone in one form or another. The roots are just as powerful as the rest of this organism with 1000 uses, and the enjoyment and appreciation that i receive from growing and giving my buds, roots, stems, twine, stalks, extracts, rosins, tinctures, salves, hash, candles, incense, brownies and butter is priceless. When the time comes that i can lawfully sell, then i will. Til then, i keep it to myself, give it away or compost it. To take this plant back, would to be to take my fresh air away and thats not environmentally healthy for an opposing govt. Tell mom I stay high!
@@rootedorganically4911 you’ve probably got more of a chance of getting heavy pesticides in weed that’s legally grown in massive quantities since most the time all they want is the profit and don’t exactly care about the quality of the product. @@loisthehedgehog7658 the problem is there's no way to know. illegal growers have been using eagle-20, paclobutrazol, imacloprid, etc (all things that legal cannabis states prohibit.) BTW, If you've never heard of eagle-20 till now, you're in over your head in this discussion... Illegal business always attracts a lot of scumbags. I'm willing to believe most illegal growers don't use toxic chemicals. (I don't.) But the ones that do, do. And there's no way to know who your grower is on the illegal market.
This is by far one of her best works i wonder how can i donate money to her personal account she really went out her way doing a production so well produced.
Legalize nationwide. Same as tobacco, tomatoes, squash ect. If I want to grow for personal consumption legal. If I don't want to grow, go to store. I can grow tobacco in garden for personal use. Legalizing is over due. Should have never been illegal.
I live in northern Michigan, 5-6 years ago when I moved up I and a lot of other people were doing really well, now with the dispensaries most of us small growers can barely make ends meet. I know several long time growers who've had to shut down their grows😢
Taxes on Big Pharma (Oxycodone, Amphetamines, Valium and other benzos, Seconal, etc...!) should be increased dramatically. Taxes on a harmless plant should be eliminated.
So while people think there’s a crime wave happening our police are spending their time closing down people who grow weed, which is not actually illegal but is because of a technical issue.
I've had one drug charge in my life and they gave me 3 years in prison, "cultivating over 5 plants with intent to sale" and the only thing on my record, I can pay $1000 to remove it, but I tell you,I'd rather go to jail for something GOD already gave me than something HE said not to do 🗡️🤓 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. It would be interesting to see some investigative documentaries on the illegal drug situation from the perspective of what the government could do, what it has and hasn't done, and how it uses, benefits from, and actually helps the illegal drug trade to flourish.
This is a very thought-provoking comment! I'd imagine that the politicians who can change the laws see it in their best interest not to say or do anything, otherwise jeopardize their careers. They may think that federal legalization is a great idea or have some personal conservatism/religious slant that says drugs are bad (the end). Either way, neither will introduce laws to legalize drugs federally. Below that, everyone else is making a paycheck as a result and doesn't want to put themselves out of a job -- this includes lawyers who defend/prosecute offenders and draft laws/regulations, law enforcement who enforce the law, and the entire prison-industrial complex who houses inmates. How may people in this video who were chopping down illegal grows also use recreational marijuana? I'd assume a lot.
@@mls01981 Good points, thanks. Regarding the sort of investigative piece that I said would be interesting to see, my guess is that nothing of that sort would be allowed to progress very far. Aside from the money part of it, which influences all economic levels of society from lowest to highest, government uses the illicit narcotics trade to track terrorist activity, which is arguably a more serious potential danger to society than the problems of drug abuse, addiction, and overdose deaths. So, the drug problem, and everything that it entails, is considered regrettable but acceptable collateral damage. Anyway, I don't have any answers. Thankfully, I don't have any appetite for narcotics or alcohol. It's frustrating to see otherwise good people ruining their lives (and sometimes others' too) with drugs and alcohol, and not be able to do anything to change their minds or habits.
In Michigan, the prices are very low right now. Dispensery price for oz is $50-100 to start. My daughter manages a Dispensery in Kalamazoo, and she was telling me how much the price has dropped so low! The black market is $150-200 to start for an oz. in my area. We are also allowed to grow 12 personal plants. I'm glad I have a green thumb!
That's still not very low when you look at the big picture. the dispensary weed they sell at that price is typically garbage quality. In canada you can order "illegal" weed online for half the price of dispensary weed and it'll be better quality too. Not even on the dark web either. You can find quarter pounds of AAA grade for as low as $200.
@@ericramirez6146 it all depends on quality really, you get what you pay for in most cases. P’s of mid grade and or outdoor stuff can get as low as $300 a P , especially if it’s popcorn nugs (small nugs). But for craft cannabis, it can get as expensive as $1600. That stuff is next level though and is made in small batches. The average for the vendor I use is about 500-800 for large nugs of AAA or popcorn nugs of AAAA. This is CAD btw, not USD. We just have so much of it in canada that it can be priced very cheap, and standards for quality are extremely high here compared to non-legal states.
The black market may be doing well in Cali but not where states have recently legalized it. VT legalized it last year recreationally and now competition is very stiff and prices are driven way down. Some of us who where doing well the last decade are struggling to move product. Im hoping that changes. 95% of the dispensaries are owned by big companies who only want to profit. They don’t care about anything else. Loaded with chemicals from chelated heavy metals from nutes to hard insecticides and fungicides. Disgusting. My sun grown organic bud will prevail
I think people miss that concept, everybody just thinks "oh, dispensary, tested, safe." But when you're dealing with mass produced stuff they want to flip as quickly as possible, just like our fast food and the unnatural things they do to what we eat to make it cheaper faster and tastier, they're gonna do the same with pot (on that nktr I'll smoke a black market bowl over a delta 8 9 10 hydroxy HHP-thc-v cart that is perfectly legal to sell and possess any day). Plus all black market pot isn't grown by illegals living in federal forest surviving on canned menudo and dumping chemical in rivers. It's often the same growers that sell to dispensaries and stuff that's just coming out the back doors of dispensaries. I think the risks of "contaminated" black market pot are real but extremely exaggerated.
Yep Quality over Quantity winning, we still getting 4k plus a lb. You gotta come with the 🔥 and exclusive in house. The garbage sells to garbage clients, Quality clients will be around forever
California government known for destroying everything it touches got involved in the weed trade. So what do you think happened? Black market is cheaper and easier... I'm told. Growers have government people wandering 24/7 through their grows they paid $100,000 for a state permit. Then they taxed transport, the packaging, and the distribution which adds to the retail price. Who can afford to do all that? Organized crime.
NO LEGALIZATION. Legalization always got laws to be bothered with. Here's one, NO LAWS for nor against these NATURE MADE PLANTS, have them be treated like growing an Apple tree or a Grape vine in My backyard. I always figured since the 90s, as it is legalized it wouldn't be better in fact worse. This documentary proves that.
I just care that the law states we can use or grow without restriction, no caps on possession amounts, basically our legal rights protection. In this case they’re intervened far too much
If the customers all over would stand together and ban the big company's like cookies and the corps with huge ops and only support small farms product maybe they could change things

This wouldn’t be a problem if they legalised it properly instead of doing a corporate takeover. And at 18:32, that’s a UK police bust, not a Californian one. The environmental damage is sad. Legalise all drugs properly.
Cannabis was legalized in Canada in 2018. The problem up here is government approved weed is of low quality, and is selling for ridiculous prices. You can get an eighth of good illegal weed for $25, yet a goverment strain not near as good sells for up to $55 🤷♂️
This is what happens when common sense laws aren't common. Many want to be able to make money without the violence and be able to operate freely, but due to nonsensical drug laws, that can't happen.
Why/how do we live in a world where it is illegal to grow a plant? The War on Drugs should be over, let alone the fact that it should've never started.
Oh loved the trap house on top of the car Park garage. So fun it was likened to Costco, plenty of parking, bulk purchases….ha ha ha LOL he wanted a date, I giggled. Great video and I appreciate everyone opening up to shed a light on what the government is doing to choke off individuals trying to enter the market.
"This pound of weed is worth $2-4000". Any media or police bust they always inflate the value to silly numbers to be more dramatic. The only way that pound is worth $4000 is if you sell the whole thing by the gram lol Here in Canada top shelf will run you about $150 an oz and decent quality stuff can be had for $60, but I'd generally stay around $100. If you want a whole pound of anything you'd be hard pressed to spend more than $1000 unless you're just looking to throw money away.

It is totally ignorant.

How much is a whole pound?

Lmao your worried about your profit😂 meanwhile the quality is higher and costs are dropping...that's great for the customer....
