Building Lego sets is a lot of fun. Great way to deal with anxiety and depression. I've built several Lego sets. Maybe one day I'll get a Histobrick set. With Lego just take your time with it, but above all... TAKE BREAKS! I'm sure you did, but it does help to step away from it. I can only wonder how long it took you to build the Lego Titanic. I haven't built mine yet, need a bigger table first lol.
Just visited the Histobrick site and instantly regreted it. The prices are completely insane! This little plastic model of the Maretania with just over 700 small pieces costs 250$!!! And there is a Queen Mary model with just over 1100 pieces that costs 460$!!! Heck, for 220$ more (680$) i can buy the original giant 53 inches long Lego Titanic with nearly 10.000 pieces!!! And keep in mind that original Lego sets are already overpriced themselves. I mean i get that they don't produce the bricks and have to buy the pieces from Lego first and sell it for more money per piece, but those prices are far over any kind of reasonable explanation. The founder of this company sure makes some very good money with selling ridiculously overpriced little plastic boats to uninformed ocean liner fans.
Great video Sam, so much fun and such a cool model, props to Histobrick! But honestly, you raging at yourself was one of the best parts of the video, that and you dancing 😂 just kidding my friend haha I really enjoyed this different type of video!
love your videos Sam!! always so much fun, and this is a lovely model of my favorite ocean liner too :D I want to say though, before a ton of people bring it up, the reason the sets are so expensive is because, just like Sam said, they are put together by hand which is a very time consuming process that commands a lot of attention to detail. plus, I'm sure the cost of buying the Lego blocks before they are sorted into a kit is already very high, as legos already come at a premium price. honestly, if I had the money I would gladly pay for my favorite ship from Histobricks especially because it's clear how much passion and care is put into their products. also remember, these models are still in fact cheaper but more importantly smaller and MUCH easier to display than the official Lego Titanic set!
I have cobi’s titanic model it’s really well made it’s another Lego like set it has special molded parts such as the bow lifeboats funnel pieces and anchors and It includes printed parts so no stickers it costed me $120.00 but it’s worth it. It has 960 bricks it’s dimensions are 64 cm (25.2 inches) long and 19 cm (7.5 inches) tall and is in 1:450th scale
I personally dont own one of these (they are super expensive). But whenever I see a review of one I am always impressed by the detail. Might get one one day! Likely the Edmund Fitzgerald.
So, I was watching/listening to your video while I was getting my daughter ready for bed. At one point, I started kind of dancing along to the music. Then I looked up and saw YOU dancing in the video 😂 It made me laugh. Great video and a great kit. I loved building with Legos before I had kids. They’re still pretty young for us to have the tiny bricks around the house, but I want to get into building Lego models when they’re older. I’ll have to put the Histobrick sets on my proverbial wishlist for later.
No. During ww1, mauretania wasn't put back into passenger service unlike Lusitania. Which is the reason why Lusitania had black funnels. It was as a sort of camouflage or for U-boats to not recognize the ship.
Thanks for another episode of Histobric Travels. These models look very advanced compared to what I once used to try to build from regular lego bricks. I also think there were some official or commissioned lego sets back then that ship operators sold on board their ships or ferries featuring the various vessels they operated.
I’ve got a official LEGO Titanic, and it actually looks really like the thing! And guess what, *the funnels actually fall over when you push them!* Edit: I am probably just as big a fan of ships as you are, Sam, I have 23 different ship models!
Great work, love your videos. just finished On a Sea of Glass. Theory: what if the shots heard (supposed suicide @2:15 am) were actually the cables supporting funnel #1? The near miss with the SS New York sounded like shots. Also, a cable end could have acted as a whip and struck an officer in the head causing blood and possible death. Your thoughts?
I don’t own this, but from what I’ve seen I prefer their original Lusitania model. (Which I do own) I think that they could have very slightly modded it to Mauretania with only a few bricks being changed. I just think that having two ships that were nearly identical in person built so differently is odd

That looks like a nice model, and I might have to look into getting one. Great video as always! Or not. I dont have the money for a Histobrick set lmao
One thing that i didn't like from the brick ship model is the hull , they should make the hull moulded not construct by bricks , for the super structure and the detail parts its ok by bricks
Many many years ago I had a Lego tanker (I think) which had a molded hull made up of about four or five segments you put together. Looked kind of cool, but these were solid inside so it was kind of limiting in that sense also. I think it might be possible to get specially molded bricks you could use by way of a traditional Lego set but it would drive the costs up considerably. A somewhat more cost effective solution might be having the bow and stern as single piece blocks.
