- After finishing my apple detox experiment, I couldn't let go of the Tab S9. So I made this video to help me decide which one to keep. 2018 iPad Pro or the 2023 Tab S9.

Loved the video! Thank you for making this video! When I search for tab SO videos, all I see are videos of the tab S9 ULTRA. I feel like more people would go for the tab S9 or the tab S9+. Again, great video.
regarding file transfer: there are file manager that are WAY better than the build in Samsung. it's a bit more work to get a workflow running with android, but if you set up everything like you want, its very competitive
For technical information. Android has a proper file managing system where you can manage all your files that are on your device in the same place. But ipads or iPhones don’t have one a proper universal file managing system that user can access or use. It’s just an app called “files” that works as an individual app like a 3rd party app but it is not an 3rd party one.
Android’s file management system is more those that computers have. But ipad/iPhone is just an app, where you can only manage files that are save to the app.
But Files app on ipad/iphone has a feature that people love that is, being able to manage your cloud accounts like onedrive, google drive, icloud, etc. which one some androids have.
I don’t use my cloud accounts via files app on iPhone as it doesn’t always show previews. As iPhone doesn’t support hell lotta files like “mkv.” Etc.
Planning on ditching my m1 ipp for an s9+ just because to this day ipados file system sucks

That was my experience with Samsung tablets, good for watching TH-cam, but when I needed it for proper work, it would slow down, stutter and get really hot
I only watch 2 videos before I subscribe to your channel. Your content is very wholesome and creative. More down to earth than other TH-camr who just ramble off specs like a broken record. I can relate more to you and your use cases with the devices.

I upgraded from the iPad 6th gen to iPad Pro m1 8gb of ram
ive been jumping alot between ios and android, and i have concluded , the best phones are android, best watch is the apple watch and best tablet is ipad. so i ended up getting a fold 4 and galaxy watch 6. the phone is the main device, im happy now..

OMG YOUR SOO RIGHT. But thing is that. That’s really expansive but worth it, depending on your circumstances. And your just lost out the best one.
I really want a iPad but I already got an iPhone and I don’t want to be in a close eco system. I have to stick to android tablet. But the iPads are really expensive but worth it. The storage option on apple is a pain and sucks. The expandable storage is really a must on a tablet. But apple doesn’t and that’s a big deal. Ugh

Same here! Samsung S23 Ultra phone, IPad Pro tablet, Samsung watch (because of the phone), AirPods 2 Pro and an HP Spectre laptop 😂
ipad pros are awesome my m1 ipad impressed me so much and the new apple silicone to make the switch to apple ecosystem for work . The applications like procreate and the apple pencil are amazing.

I was contemplating getting a Tab S9 after many years of iPads, I had the Pro like yours, now I have the iPad Pro M1 2Tb with 16gb RAM.
Like you, I am using Lightroom a lot on my iPad, so I tried to find a review comparing both specifically for this. You showed me everything I needed to see, the Ipad is way better for Lightroom. I have a thunderbolt card reader and the file transfer is super fast. Photo export is super fast as well. I tried Lightroom on my S23 Ultra with the Snapdragon Gen 2 and it struggled, but I was hoping the tablets might be a bit better. I'm glad that I didn't switch to Samsung Tab S9

This video should motivate Android devs to get it together. But also you can select the photos by holding & dragging down to the desired photo.
Love it! I went with the S9 for more of a computer feel to everything and adding in the emulators (which i love to play) other than that these are both amazing devices.

I use iPhone, iPad and M2 MacBook Air. In addition, I also bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9+ last March. I’m not selling anything but I’m buying a mini 7 if ever it rolls out this year.

i'm surprised you didn't really have issue of apps restarting if u have more than a few running in background. That's usually the most common complaint with 2018 model because of the very low 4gb ram. I honestly like Samsung because of the proper external display support , stylus but my favourite one taking app Notion isn't available on Android and the games i wanna play scale poorly with the resolution like Diablo immortal.
Amazing - I am just selling of my Tab S9+ again. Reason for this is performance. The iPad Pro 12.9 (2021) that i have is just ways faster, my two games never had an issue on iPadOS. I had to turn off animation on S9+. My newspaper app jitters while scrolling on S9+, never a problem on iPadOS, not even on my Mini6. App orientation jumps back and forth in some apps. You realize that they were not built for tablets. Some apps, like facebook are just streched to the screen and the image quality due to streching is just looking its appeal. My iPad has 1200 NITS of brightness. The S9+ does not even get close to this. It is almost imposible to read the screen when sitting outside. GoodNotes Android is not half as good as Goodnotes iOS. This is a dealbreaker for me. IP68, Dex, fast charging at 45W are great, but given that the price of both tablets are about the same in Switzerland, i rather go with the better performance overall.
Android tablets still aren’t quite there unfortunately. DeX is a huge argument which many Samsung supporters rely on, but if we are being completely honest then who would even want to rely on DeX. If it’s a pure Tablet you’re looking for then go for iPad, if you want a hybrid between tablet and laptop go for a surface. Don’t bother with DeX.
You can use other file managers
If you press and hold on one photo on the tab s9 you can drag your finger and select multiple.
Yeah I try that in this video. That press and hold doesn’t work when you’re in the Lightroom app trying to select photos via the sd card. Unusable.

@@thesamuelnamu really don’t know to use a file manager. When you press the three dots on the right upper corner it shows the option short . After that you just simply swipe to select what you want. I have the very same iPad Pro and I have to say is the most pain in the ass file manager. Let’s say if I want to play a video from my external ssd it has to be f imported on iPad!! It can’t simply play it from ssd at first place this is soooo lame. I am currently looking to give away it to my sister and buy an Samsung s9 tab. When I want to edit something I will make it properly on my pc with my calibrated monitors and dedicated gpus.

After 5 years of use one knows where everything is and how to do everything quickly on the iPad and after using the Samsung tablet a bit those things do not go as quickly obviously .
What if you did use the S9 now for 5 years and then switch to a tablet eco system you never used to "compare", What would happen?

I have been using Samsung galaxy tab since the S7, I have the S9 now. When it comes to the chip the IPAD wins. When it comes to app experience (the most important thing) IPAD wins. I cannot comfortably edit videos on my S9 like I can with my iPad. it's hard to explain. The IPAD is way better and this is coming from an android user his whole life. I have the samsung galaxy s23 ultra and s9 tab.
what u usually do with your tab s9 can you share and what is tab s9 suitable for?
@@toann1905 I am not going to lie I gave up on Samsung Galaxy tablets. I now mainly use my iPad Pro daily for video editing on final cut pro and note taking. I spent a alot of time with the tab s7 and s8 and they were only useful as a college student for Samsung notes. When I stopped using Samsung notes, and needed it for video editing software, I switched to Apple tablets.

You can keep both. Tab S tablets have their pros. They are more wide-screen in landscape mode than IPad, but the apps are going to be more limited. Data is also much cheaper on Samsung.

Press and hold when image is selected drag your finger to multi select....noop works on file manager, it works on gallery.
Yes it works in gallery and file manager apps, But doesn't work on Lightroom app 😭
It annoys me that a 5 year old Ipad performs better than expensive Adroid models. I recently had to edit videos on vacation with a Tab S9+ and it was a cramp if you're used to an Ipad. It's almost cheeky to ask so much money for an Android device and then offer such miserable performance. That's a shame, because I really like Android and its possibilities. But I wouldn't buy a Porsche that has the handling of a Volkswagen ... :D
I sold my ipad and purchased the Galaxy Tab S9 plus.
Performance between the 2 are equal.
Enjoying Tab S9 plus and not returning back to ipad.
I can customize my Tab S9 + without daycare deciding how I am allowed to customize my device.
100% Apple fan boy, also looking to get views, but this was a genuine video about wanting to figure out which to keep. It literally can’t do Lightroom due to optimisation issues. Also lacking native apps I need for business. Other than that it’s a killer machine, better priced, especially if you don’t do video production work and photography.

If you use your tablet for Multimedia, nothing can beat iPad Pro, especially with M2 chips. But, if you use your tablet more for Office stuff, Tab S9 is the proper one. Much cheaper for the tablet itself and its accessories....

Oh, good question. Canva has come a long way on iPad, but I would think it'll be easier on the Samsung using Dex and desktop browser mode. The iPad will feel 10% limited.

But probably, I'll still pass here is why, keyboard for this thing costs like half the tablet. This way ill spend like 1,20,000₹+ for a tablet.

For an ex monk, someone who has never used a computer , only an oppo phone, is the ipad or samsung tablet easier to use ? Do either come with word or something equivalent to word for writing essays?
iPad is easier to use if you're use to phones. Yes, you can install Word or in my case use Google Docs on either device. The keyboard case is a must have if you're buying any of these devices.

i bought a 2018 ipad pro a few months ago for 250 - couldnt find a new or used android for that price that could beat it
I still have the iPad Pro 2018 since it came out ,it’s been 5 years and I honestly love it , I’ve never had the need to upgrade,the only reason I will upgrade if I will have to but I’ve been very impressed with the iPad Pro 2018 .

Of course, the iPad is better at video editing. Almost everything else is equal or better on the S9 than the iPad as long as you can do without a handful of apps.
