    Made this same switch about 2 years ago. The WING has been amazing, much easier to balance and equalize. It's also allowed us to directly send a sound mix to our live stream which has cut out a lot of distortion and balance issues we were having.

    Cool thing is if you have your console and your FOH computer hooked up to the internet you can VPN remotely (if someone can turn the system on for you) and run VSC w/unlisted stream remotely to work on things without being at the church.
    We just put this into practice and it really helps me if I have a serve team member running practice and I just wanna work on the stream. Instead of being in person I can remotely run both the wing and studio rack performer from my laptop at home and make adjustments.

    whats the point if you can't let us hear the actual sound before and after the makeover, we would like to hear tho please. that way it'll be really easy to understand what we want.

    I was wondering why you were using a separate VSC instead of wplay but then you said you bought the wing Dante expansion card.
    We got a Dante Brooklyn card and opened the board, installed it and are still able to record and do VSC with 64 Dante channels.

    Is this a good board for a new church who wants to also be kinda future proofed? As a long time musician, the name Behringer is a little sus lol. But I know they've come a long way and they own Midas now so... I don't know what to think. Looking for a good bang for buck but not be hosed over with software crashing and all haha.

    Question: What software are you using to do the multitrack recording and playback?

  • @dannysbeats

    Question we wanna upgrade to a wing because of channel and bus space. Instead of getting rid of the x32 is there a way that the streaming setup uses the x32 while the wing is used for in house?

    • @Churchfront
      @Churchfront  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah you can easily do this and repurpose your x32 for a dedicated mix. For ease of mixing and less operators, we prefer doing your broadcast mix in the main FOH console with matrices. But yeah, you could send audio from your stage boxes over AES50 to both your Wing and X32 for entirely seperate mixes.

    • @dannysbeats
      @dannysbeats 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Churchfront So which one would bring better results. Just using the wing for the livestream or using the x32 ?

    • @PUGLIA_JO
      @PUGLIA_JO 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dannysbeatsOur setup is simple, we use the wing for both. Using the FoH mix for the stream with minor output adjustments.
      -We are using AES coming from an S32 into the wing/ pre amp
      -Dante output directly to waves SR performer (for processing)
      -Dante source from performer to channels
      -use compressor to level band on (subgroup)Mix Busses for band, vocals speech ect.
      -route verb and delays back into busses to compress fx with OG Signal
      -output busses straight to main outs
      - L/R mains
      - Subs
      -Lobby
      - Stream
      - levels can be adjusted to each main out from mix busses for speech, leads ect.
      -Main outs are ext. Insert to performer for mastering
      We got a Brooklyn card for Dante so we can keep the WPlay SD recordings for virtual sound check. Just have to open the bottom of the board and slide it in.
      If you don’t have a DAW to process plug ins you can follow the same set up just source channel inputs strait from AES or whatever source local, ect.

      @@dannysbeats my church would love to get the Behringer x32 you have since we are still using a analog mixer with no compressor, no limiter, limited eq(low ,mid, high), general low pass. It would be a big help if you want to.

    What are you doing that is expanding your P16 capabilities? We did the same upgrade of an X32 to a WING a couple years ago. Only downside I've experienced is being capped on the amount of outputs on the P16, so I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

    • @gflickema
      @gflickema 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      You can route stereo busses to the P16. So for the setup at my church we mix our drums into a stereo bus and tracks into a stereo bus. We also throw our click and cues together on a mono bus and then pastor mics/announcement mics/media playback/md mic into a mono bus. Everything else is mono direct to the P16 except our keys and our electric guitar. I think they just sound better stereo in the ears. If we ever have two electric guitars on stage (which isn’t often) we just switch the guitars to mono on the ears and the board.

    I'm not a fan of the Wing. But...not gonna lie...this video makes it look pretty nice. Most important is hopefully it's meeting their needs, which it seems to be. That's great! Hopefully it helps reach even more people with the Gospel.

      Yeah, we're not specking it for a lot of new installs, but it's a great upgrade for people wanting the next step from an X32

    • @PUGLIA_JO
      @PUGLIA_JO 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree but the only thing I can say that I love about this console is the ability to route any source anywhere.
      It can be dangerous (by over complicating) but extremely fun to be able to theorize routing configurations and actually make them happen.
      Before waves came out with SR performer this year we were natively processing waves (wing didn’t have a waves card) LIVE via Dante through studio one, 3 yrs ago because of the wings routing capability.

      @@PUGLIA_JO Interesting. Thanks for your insight. I run an SQ in two different venues and don't find any shortcomings with them but admittedly I'm not doing anything overly complicated in my situations.

    • @PUGLIA_JO
      @PUGLIA_JO 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mark12.31 For us the wing is a stepping stone. It has allowed us the flexibility to incorporate the capabilities of a mid tier priced console at budget pricing. However, you sacrifice a bit of sound with that flexibility & with certain processing you can fix that. The SQ is 24 bit/96k vs 32 bit/48k & the wing has a harshness that you have to fight constantly vs a warmth and clarity of a A&H or a Yamaha at the same price point.
      It would never be my choice for a console but it is a great solution for certain situations. It’s enabled us to spend money on priorities like building the networking backbone & infrastructure for a future mid tier system, but with the capabilities of that system so when we upgrade it is a plug and play.
      If you have the money, i would pass over it. But if you don’t and you are waiting for companies like waves, and console manufacturers to develop/release products, updates & capabilities it provides that flexibility.

    I know that this is a technical channel whose purpose is I hope, to play skillfully unto the Lord. Just an observation: Performances happen on a stage. People have influence on a platform. Sacrifices of praise happen on an altar. Does it matter what we call the thing that the musicians stand on?

      Behringer is prototyping a wing compact. Maybe they will announce it end of this year or Q2 next year like they did for thw wing rack. There are some leaked photos going around.
