    I just started experimenting with the looper. I thought it wouldn't be efficient as far as time/secs etc.
    But i was wrong.
    Its wayy better than i expected.

      Yeah, one can get quite a lot out of it

    Thanks for the Video. Now I can finally give Loop record a try.

    Thanks Todd. Really useful video. A question. How do you build a 'library' of longer samples, which later on you can use for different ways. For example, I would like to sample parts of songs from my vinyls (say, 10 to 20 seconds), which later on I can use in projects for chopping (short sounds in drum tracks, or longer sounds in looper tracks). I know how to record a sample from my vinyls, but I don't know how to do it in a way that lets me reuse it in a flexible way in the future. Any help with this would be super!

      I think the most straightforward way would be to record on your PC, take out the SD card from the MC707 and then put the samples into: ROLAND/GROOVEBOX/
      SAMPLE directory. Then you can import the sample into your project by pressing SOUND and then WAVE FILE and then it is loaded into Oscillator 1 as a PCM (Sample). It actually works the same if you sample on the MC. If you sampled into a project you can then move the sample to the SAMPLE directory.

    So I’m a guitar owner (not much of a player 🤣) and I keep looking at the Boss RC’s (looper products) and the Roland dedicated loopers to add to my setup for practicing scales against chord progressions…. I own an mc 707.. a Force.. and an SP 404.. but none are quite as user friendly as a dedicated pedal.. which sucks!! With the gear I own I should need to by any more kit!…. I need a solution for this… but I will try the 707 out.
    What is the limit for for looper sample time (I’m guessing it’s short?)..

      It is short, you have 60 seconds

    Diamond in the ruff...just a deep dive to deal with but try packs the zen...import and🎉😮especially drum packs ..like a new groove box dont forget to set on clip mode ...just learn it ...take your time ⏲️

    Is there a way to record the loop and then switch over to the record ed loop without playing external-in in the background?
    For example having a base synth playing its pattern and then switch over from the live audio to the recorded

    • @ToddMakesMusic
      @ToddMakesMusic  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When you play a scene and you have a looper track, then you can select a clip on the looper track and record from external an possibly another track as well. After the defined recording length in measures the looped recording will automatically be played, so the keyboard player can stop. All while the MC is in playback mode. Is that what you are looking for?

    • @FuZZbaLLbee
      @FuZZbaLLbee 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ToddMakesMusic in my case, the base synth keeps on playing its programmed sequence when the loop is recorded and being played. It want the MC 707 to stop playing the external input when the loop is playing.
      The I idea is to be able to change settings o. The base synth, while the recorded loop is playing and the at one point switch back to playing the external input again and stop playing the loop.
      This is something you often see people do on the Octatrack.
      Maybe there is a way to change the looper input track on the 707 with a midi cc command.

    The time stretching on the 707 sounds like ass in both type 1 and 2.

    • @ToddMakesMusic
      @ToddMakesMusic  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah, it does not stretch well beyond ten bpm or so. If possible one should only loop once the bpm ate fixed.

  • @mango4two101
    @mango4two101 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I just wish that the stretching algorithm was better because it is pretty bad tbh.

    • @ToddMakesMusic
      @ToddMakesMusic  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yes, the bpm range is somewhat narrow. I mostly use the looper track last, when I no longer change the bpm. But yeah, depending on the genre of music one works in, it might not be ideal

  • @gibson2623

    Why does the guitar sound different after being recorded? LOL. That shouldn t happen. Might as well just load that guitar as a file recorded on something decent

    • @ToddMakesMusic
      @ToddMakesMusic  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@gibson2623 yes, I agree. The looper track has its drawbacks. In a DAWless setup the looper might just be enough, though, but probably not so much for high fidelity recordings

    • @gibson2623

      @@ToddMakesMusic YES! I do have an MC707 but i never track guitars on it, no way. Another thing to connsider if anyone just might use the MC707 for recording a guitar, is a DI box, because you will want a line level in there, and never impedance mismatches, etc etc. Thanks man, take care :)
