    Thank you so much. We have a 4 yr old grandson. He doesn't talk. I showed him toddler sign just so I would know what he needed from me.
    So now I'm watching you so I can teach him more words. Thank you for what you do.
    God bless

    Hello! I wanted to ask if you could do a video on signs having to do with money, and shopping at a store. I am working with a student who is Deaf and I need to learn: money, cents, dollars, sell, sale, and other signs having to do with purchasing items and making change for a customer. An interchange between a "storekeeper" and a "buyer" in ASL would be really helpful for me! Thank you for everything you do. You're an excellent teacher.

    When and how did you start learning sign language? I'm learning so thank you for teaching me 😊

    • @ASLMeredith

      Hello, thanks for asking! I was exposed to ASL at a very young age from a Deaf friend, so I acquired vocabulary and fingerspelling skills throughout my childhood (first from her, then via books, DVDs, and night courses). In college, my formal study began with classes taught by wonderful CODA and Deaf instructors. Additionally, I spent a semester at Gallaudet University for complete immersion in Deaf Culture and Community, alongside additional linguistic study of ASL. Hope that answers :)

    Hi Meredith, Thank you so much for replying to my request earlier, I can't express my gratitude in words❣️❣️❣️. Thank you so much once again... ❤️❤️
    In my previous request, I might have put the request with incorrect words because it is not reviewing that I was looking for if you could help me one more time I will try to request with emoji. ✊the left hand where palm facing the sky in similar position and 👆 finger right below the hand almost making 45 degrees, does this gesture has any meaning... thank you in advance...

    Hi Meridith, thanks for posting these videos. I'm wondering if you have a suggested order in which to watch your videos for someone starting from the beginning?

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! Good question. At this point, I do not have a specific outline. I do definitely suggest beginning with the Basic conversational intro video: th-cam.com/video/RhQvlq-mZtA/w-d-xo.html and from there, go on to whichever videos interest you! Feelings & Emotions may be useful (th-cam.com/video/91foGHKuwL0/w-d-xo.html) or beyond. I'm currently working on a resource that may help a more guided experience for beginners :) let me know if you have questions or suggestions! Thanks.

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh! One more response: I forgot I had a beginner track playlist, which does list the most beginner/helpful videos, somewhat in order, though it's hardly a start-to-finish class. You can see it here: th-cam.com/play/PL-6MutNucAZLXORt9fMmbRfwMK_06fDOO.html It's currently hidden, so you'll be the first! Let me know what you think :)

      Ok, my turn, one more thing, now that I think of it. I don't see a vocabulary list for church. Do you think you could put together a list of signs and expressions that might be used while translating a church service? :)
      After spamming several of your videos in that playlist, I gotta say I like it.
      EDIT: I'm LDS, so please include signs for things like Prophet, Apostle, Missionary, Elder, Ward (congregation), Quorum, Relief Society.

    Would period and duration be the same sign? (Inferring this, I never seen the duration sign)

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the context, but they may both use that sign that represents a period of time. "duration" might also be signed like "persist".

    For project is it a sideways k turning into a sideways i ???

    • @ASLMeredith

      Yes - but it may help you to think of it as a "P" turning into a "J" for "project"

      @ASLMeredith  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi again Debbie! For any video that's too quick (mine or anywhere on TH-cam) you can use TH-cam's video menu options - click the gear or 3-dots icon (depending on your device) and select speed = 0.5 or 0.25 as needed. Hope that helps!

  • @kadiegalewaler2976
    @kadiegalewaler2976 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    You did final exam WAY to fast !!!!!!

    • @ASLMeredith
      @ASLMeredith  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry! Did you know you can slow down any video by clicking the gear (or three dots on mobile) icon and selecting "Speed" = 0.5 ?
      The sign "Final exam" would be like the signs LAST and then EXAM/TEST.
