Thanks. In 1972 I had a job in Wülfrath, not far from Wuppertal and I remember the Schwebebahn and Wuppertal from those days, so it is especially nice for me to see these images. The system has been modernised in many ways and, of course there are new vehicles, but the line still runs the length of the valley from Vohwinkel to Oberbarmen. I can't imagine Wuppertal without it. Nor can I imagine what possessed the City to get rid of the trams....

Wow, you filmed the blue train. A test car for the next generation of trains.
As children we were always very happy when we caught it driving.
I haven't lived there for many years, the film brings back memories of my childhood there, thank you very much for that.
If you're interested, I've listed the stations shown in the video here so you can watch it on Google Maps:
The film begins at the east end in Oberbarmen, and then jumps straight to the other end of the line.
0:45 Vohwinkel, the terminus in the west. Here, on the short country route, the line even has a slight incline towards the Vohwinkel terminus.
0:52 Vohwinkel, Kaiserstrasse / Bahnstrasse intersection
0:58 The train arrives at Bruch station from Vohwinkel.
1:14 is the reverse shot, this train goes to Vohwinkel. 1:22 To the right of pillar 65 you can see a pile of rubble. At that time, half of the Sonnborn district was demolished to build a motorway junction, which was completed in 1974.
1:32 Here today the motorway runs across the railway scaffolding. The railway itself has received new scaffolding there to span the motorway.
1:38 The railway leaves the land route and turns over the Wupper at the Sonnborn stadium. The Stadion / Zoo station can be seen behind the blue bridge.
1:48 A train coming from the direction of Barmen arrives at the Stadion / Zoo stop. The railway bridge that crosses the suspension railway here can be seen at the top right.
    1:55 Approaching the Varresbeck stop
2:11 After leaving Varresbeck, the railway crosses the Bayer AG factory site
Nowadays, only research is carried out there, not production. In the past, you could tell where you were by the smell with your eyes closed.
2:55 We skipped two stops and are approaching the Robert Daum Platz stop. In the foreground you can see the bridge on Moritzstrasse.
2:32 We are just leaving the Robert Daum Platz stop. Straight ahead in the background you can see the tower of the Sparkasse high-rise, which is almost finished.
2:43 Shortly afterwards, the train crosses the valley axis with the federal highway 7. Directly behind the curve is the Ohligsmühle station, which was built there 10 years later. It was the first station to have a futuristic design.
2:57 Entrance to the Hauptbahnhof / Döppersberg station. The area was extensively rebuilt from 2010 to 2018.
3:09 We are standing on Bundesallee, about the height of the Schauspielhaus / Hofaue, and are looking towards Barmen
3:14 Here the direction of view changes again, we are standing in the car park next to the Schauspielhaus and see a train heading west / Vohwinkel.
3:19 The Kluse station was built there in 1999. Similar to Ohligsmühle, a stop that was destroyed in the war was only rebuilt quite late here.
3:31 We are still standing in the car park behind the Schauspielhaus. Above the retaining wall on the right is the railway line.
3:42 The cameraman has walked a little way back to the west. We are looking from Bundesallee at the Wesendonkstrasse bridge.
3:44 Döpperstberg stop again. A train coming from Barmen / east arrives.
3:49 ... and one coming from the west / Vohwinkel leaves the station. The pedestrian tunnel in which the people disappear below and the dark building on the right no longer exist today.
3:54 View from the Döppersberg station, looking west towards the new Sparkasse building.
4:01 Now we're heading east again and looking at the buildings on Bundesallee, opposite the Schauspielhaus.
4:05 The video makes a big jump and only starts again around 3 kilometers further east, at the Alter Markt station, in Barmen.
4:09 The train has just left the Alter Markt station and we look at the Rolingswerth bridge
4:12 At the end, a train arrives at the Oberbarmen terminus.
All stops and the supporting structure were extensively restored/rebuilt at the end of the 1990s. 3 stops - Landgericht, Völklingerstrasse, and Wether Brücke were left with their historical appearance, the others were given a modern design.
In connection with these reconstruction works, the only accident in 120 years of operation occurred, in which 5 people were killed. In 1999, a train crashed just before the Robert Daum Platz station because a scaffold clamp used during construction work on the weekend had been forgotten to be removed. The reconstruction only took place on weekends, and the train was then shut down, but continued to run normally on weekdays.
