Hi, Im Polish, I have lilived there for 10 years(2005-2015) . loved that plae,, but could see it was much better place before. I am not in UK anymore but I still wish you all the best english people. Fight to get yours and your grandperents memories back. You can do it. Just belive it and fight. Poland had so many difficulties in its history but raised up. You have to belive and fight. Wow - that was great. As a boy I used to live 3 short train stops away from Southend (Hockley) and my family visited regularly in the Summer. 1968 was my last Summer (I'd have been seven years old) and there are a couple of things here which I remember specifically - especially the two birds fighting over the worm in the illuminations - funny the things that grab your imagination when you are young.

2nd January I remember like it was yesterday. Filmed 55015 leave Kings Cross, went to Finsbury Park to see 55008,55013, and 55017 getting soaked in the process. Then back to Kings Cross in the evening to see 55022 return.

Fantastic video, was looking out for one of my colleagues, he would have been a very young second man during these times at the cross. He has done 45 years so far and has just learnt the 800s 😂

0:28 Nice Metro Cammel Weymann (MCW) double decker there.We had around 70 of these, as well as the Leyland Olympian, at "V' Garage, Stamford Brook W4. They where powerful and with excellent air suspension. A real busman's bus.Made the job a lot easier, thats for sure. The brake retarder took some getting used to - it would cut out automatically as you came to a stop, which felt very unnerving. You had to 'push' through' past the retarder and onto the service airbrakes smoothly to stop. Of course, each one had a different character. After about a year, it suddenly hits you that youve mastered the operation, and everything is just second nature- its a lovely feeling when that happens!

Really enjoyed this, I remember "spotting" many of those Deltics in my youth.

Nice old days . Good . We always had one or two out at Southend every year go on coach from london , with me aunt ans mum. Brothers. . Never had holiday mind. Dad was a but. Mean. Tho money was tight in the 50/60s, and he had four of us.😱

Very impressiv footage from Dresden and Görlitz and the "Deutsche Reichsbahn". As Resident from Western-Berlin I couldn´t travel in the GDR until April 1972.

Wonderful footage from the "Deutsche Reichsbahn", Trams and Towns like Bergen, Stralsund in the GDR. I suppose, the footage was made from non-residents ("Devisenausländer). In the GDR It was until 1973 not allowed to take pictures from the railways.

Wow, you filmed the blue train. A test car for the next generation of trains. As children we were always very happy when we caught it driving. I haven't lived there for many years, the film brings back memories of my childhood there, thank you very much for that. If you're interested, I've listed the stations shown in the video here so you can watch it on Google Maps: The film begins at the east end in Oberbarmen, and then jumps straight to the other end of the line. 0:45 Vohwinkel, the terminus in the west. Here, on the short country route, the line even has a slight incline towards the Vohwinkel terminus. 0:52 Vohwinkel, Kaiserstrasse / Bahnstrasse intersection 0:58 The train arrives at Bruch station from Vohwinkel. 1:14 is the reverse shot, this train goes to Vohwinkel. 1:22 To the right of pillar 65 you can see a pile of rubble. At that time, half of the Sonnborn district was demolished to build a motorway junction, which was completed in 1974. 1:32 Here today the motorway runs across the railway scaffolding. The railway itself has received new scaffolding there to span the motorway. 1:38 The railway leaves the land route and turns over the Wupper at the Sonnborn stadium. All stops and the supporting structure were extensively restored/rebuilt at the end of the 1990s. 3 stops - Landgericht, Völklingerstrasse, and Wether Brücke were left with their historical appearance, the others were given a modern design. In connection with these reconstruction works, the only accident in 120 years of operation occurred, in which 5 people were killed. In 1999, a train crashed just before the Robert Daum Platz station because a scaffold clamp used during construction work on the weekend had been forgotten to be removed. The reconstruction only took place on weekends, and the train was then shut down, but continued to run normally on weekdays.

4:18 to 5:07 shows Wuppertal. I lived there at the time and was 10 years old. The last tram ran there in 1986. Thanks for the Video.

If i'm not mistaken there were still steam trains running in this part of Europe in 1972? it hardly seems possible! Does anyone know when they were phased out? I think in the UK mostly they had been phased out by the late 1960s.
