Update on a 4 year old comment: When you are done, continue with the mission as usual until you get to Haspur. Wait a few minutes and scan and a infant Sun Creature named Maverick will appear. Tractor it before it warps to get a closer look. What's interesting is that no one knows what Maverick is referencing since the Sun Creature easter egg in Thaxius labels them as some of the developers who worked on the game. And a word of caution in Thaxius. Try not to anger them as they will attack when provoked. It's challenging as they will show up and circle you within 500 units when you arrive.
Studying in the cutscenes can boost all crew members scores (maybe to near 100%). The ending ceremony should be essentially the same, but the Meclanti mission is missed as a result.
