Looks like Alshoff had the same thing happened to him as Gary Mitchell and Elisabeth Dehner in the 2nd TOS pilot "Where No Man Has Gone Before". I love the way SFA handles references to TOS and the movies.
The crew dies and you fail the mission. It takes a couple minutes, though. It creates a bit of suspense after taking heavy damage in a battle to see if it will come back online in time. Star Trek crews should try wearing vacuum suits. It would make ship-wide life support less critical in times like these.
IIRC, if you scan some of the Venturi ships while fighting Alshoff, they will no longer attack you and Rotherot will give you an additional commendation. Really enjoying the playthrough!
I tried tractoring it out of danger, disabling it, and letting it drift away at max speed before fighting the Venturi. I never succeeded and in this version the Lagrange automatically explodes. Maybe it was patched. Maybe I'll try the original unpatched version.
I think I always assumed he was “in on it” and acting the part. Like maybe Rotherot pulled him aside before the sim and said, “When you get to this part, I need you to act like such and such is happening.”
There's a cheat code one can use that makes the torpedos on the Miranda stronger. But, in the free play, when you choose your ship and the ones you are going to fight, the Mirandas become tougher to take on. ;)
The real question how can Sturek sens those deads? sins this is just a simulator? Also the barrier why flying right on when you can below or go above it? People still keep thinking in 2D when there are in space? how sad!
At the very end during the speech by the mission briefer a special thanks is offered to Sturek for helping out by acting during the simulated mission. Vulcans can be excellent roleplayers.
This and the previous mission were ridiculously difficult. Took me 10 attempts at times and could only beat them with luck. If just one of the ships scores a good hit on you you are toast while you have to pound them tons of times with everything you have (wasn't my Miranda supposed to have the same shields as a Constitution class? The only thing I've ever noticed about my Miranda's shields was that they were down after one hit.). Frustrating as hell. However the game is really good over all but sometimes waaaay too hard even on lowest difficulty.
Waswollt Ihr The only saving grace is that it's easy to take out Venturi ship engines. One or two torpedoes can take them out. It's also a good idea to turn around real fast. The Miranda-class aft torpedo should fire as long as the enemy is directly behind.
Alshoff While that is true it won't help you in the nebula as you can hardly lock on to anything. Most of the time they either score a lucky hit on me or I ram them as I have to get really close to hit with my torpedoes and they stop dead in their tracks when being disabled and no shields means instant death on collision. :(
Alshoff BTW thanks for the tip with the impulse engines. Made fighting the derelicts in this mission much easier. Of course Alshoff himself returned the favor and got my impulse engines with the first hit and slowly crushed me to death with his psyche attacks.... I hate it when that happens after you've spent several minutes waiting for your ship to be repaired just to be knocked out of combat almost instantly. :(
For This Level I Like To Sit Back And Watch The Star base Fight The Venturi Ships And It Is Rear For the Star Base To Be Destroyed. If You Let Them Position Underneth The Star Base Then It Is Possible But You Have To Tractor Them There. Then Another Glitch Comes Up! The Screen Stays Black And Your Computer Crashes. The Lagrange Is Impossible To Save! It Self Destructs even Without Much Punishment I Have tried.
Honest to fucking god, this mission is impossible. Those two fucking little ships on Omega 12-300 just take everything I have in a couple of shots. Fucking game...

oh my god this acting is hilarious. loving every second of it.

this game looks so awesome. i like how it's based in the Kirk era; they had cooler uniforms.
+theQuestion626 The religious speech in this mission remind me too much of Star Trek V.
They really did have the coolest uniforms
this mission creeped me the fuck out as a kid. the whole venturi arc really, but especially this

The Venturi ships were too OP in this game it was ridiculous
For this mission, let the Starbase take care of the Venturi ships, it can handle them with no problem.
So, this is a mission in the simulator. Yet Sturak reacts telepathically to the attack. How is this possible?

Alshoff sounds like that lobster guy from Futurama.

That comes later. One person at a time, you know.
So's Brady in one of the next levels. ;)
@WonderN123 Generally a negative reaction and his grades take hit which can affect the ending.

What happens when you lose life support?

Agreed!

It’s been a while.
Well, at least he was more interesting than that Nero guy from JJ Trek.
Nevermind.

God did not use evolution to get us here
