    For a good Survival/Camping/EDC (jobs)
    Axes,saws etc........break.
This is an emergency thing but hell overall......
    it's just common sense.💯
    Also...........
The people that say this shit NEVER have gone camping in their own back yard. 😂

If you’re worried about breaking it when you have to use it, you probably shouldn’t bother carrying it with you ha! Much love from Texas!

You are correct, batoning with a knife is not only a good technique to know, it is also a good way to test the quality and durability of knife!
If one is "afraid" to baton wood with their fixed blade knife, either buy a good knife or just stay home!

I am 74 years old and still looking for the grail knife. If the knife can't baton it isn't reliable in my opinion. I don't expect the knife to necessarily survive a Joe X test, but it better not break while he's stabbing a car hood or chopping up a log.

I'm glad ya made this vid. I carry a fixed blade EDC&it is always capable of batoning or I don't carry it. Durability is key&of utmost importance. Whether it's to baton wood or a split a human chest bone.

"Your TV still has a dial on it"--LMAO!!! 🤣Oh man, very good video and I agree with you 100% batoning is a fair way to test a half decent fixed blade knife. Congrats on 24k subs, btw. 👍Thanks for sharing, take care and Cheers!

I'm just getting into this stuff, and I like the testing you do. I find it extremely valuable, as someone who's trying to learn what is actually good gear to buy.
By the way, can someone please tell me what model the Gerber knife is that is being held up to the camera toward the end of the video?
I am too new to recognize knives by simply looking at them.

I definitely agree with you man if a knife is so well made that it can baton without a problem go for it now of course there are knives that are made for batoning but there are knives that are put one of those keyboard warriors on the Naked and Afraid show and see how long they last

To be fair, batoning in a survival situation is probably far less demanding on the blade than in a review situation, because in a review you would test the limits. Of course some knives are better for this kind of task than others, but on the other hand there are people who have done this with a cheap kitchen knife... I won't tell any names...

If a knife doesn't handle batoning, I don't want it. I want the thing to be capable of handling extreme stress in case I have to really rely on it. I won't take a folder for the same reason. Sure there's folks out there that HAVE batoned with a folder, but I'll pass.
By the way, does your Boker Arbolito Esculta Gigante baton?

Why wouldn't you want a knife that can baton if it still cuts well ? Some people just refuse to accept that sometimes things go sideways and life gets tough ... and for those people life often gets really really tough. Like... fighting home invaders with a rolling pin tough.🤷‍♂️

I agree that batoning is potentially a good test, provided you can control your technique and the properties of the wood you're testing from knife to knife.
That said, I think one should be aware of other options, like this: th-cam.com/video/vJS1SepHop0/w-d-xo.html
Yeah, it's nice if your knife can survive the abuse. It's good to test that. It's also good to treat your most important tool in a way so as to reduce risk of destroying it. There's a balance between babying and abusing. You make good points, but you should balance it out with other options.

Well I just baton with my 1911 while watchin' reglar programs on ma tv with the dial. Got that long cord on ma rotery phone so I ken talk while I 1911 them logs........OK I can't do it anymore. Don't know why people are down on batoning, isn't carrying less stuff better than more ? If you think your knife is too wimpy to baton with then throw it away !
