I know, right? And from what I read online, there were lots of developers competing with this person who paid for and donated the land. Nice to know that not every rich person is greedy these days! 😎👍
What a great nature preserve! 🌴 Love that they exist in cities, really improves the esthetic- much better than a (water sucking) golf course! Thanks for sharing with us! 🌱 🪴 🍃 🌲🌿☘️
It's so pretty there! When I watch your videos I feel better because where I live it's just endless cold and snow . Keep up the great work Steve I really appreciate you ❤😊
Hi Steve!! I just subscribed yesterday. I had no idea you had another channel!!! Double time with my friend!! Yay!😊❤ Wonderful to see a preserve!! We can definitely use more of these!!
Steve, what a gorgeous area. It's a healthy sign for PS to turn a golf course into a nature preserve so the people and wildlife can be restored! Love it!!!!
Hi Steve! You always find the coolest places! That Oasis was amazing. I can’t wait to see this Preserve when it’s completely done, especially the Oasis. Thank You Steve for sharing another great video with us. Blessings to You and Jim! ❤❤❤
I live on the southern side of the western section of the preserve that is west of Farrell. I moved here 21 years ago when it was a beautifully maintained private course for the 700 unit condo development "Mesquite Country Club". Over the years the land was sold to various owners with plans for massive development. The city and the neighborhood did not want development and so were happy that the the nonprofit Oswitt (sp?) Conservation organization decided to purchase it for public open space. Fortunately Mr. Prescott provided significant funding for this to become a reality. Note that so far there have been no homeless encampments or graffiti on the property. This has the potential to become a great new addition to Palm Springs for preserving naural landscape in the very middle of the city. I walk the paths daily and had a roadrunner stop not 3 feet from me to check me out this afternoon. Such a treat and I am now hearing coyotes howl out there as I am writing this at 5:45 Monday Jan 6th. Thanks Steve for showing what will undoubtedly be another jewel in the Palm Springs crown of attractions.
Wow! Thank you Steve for taking us out on this little but very nice trip!👍 You (southern) Californians should count yourselves lucky at least for the amazingly beautiful State and climate you get to enjoy living in!! I know there's a LOT more to having a happy or good life than just to be in gorgeous (natural) surroundings, but still - it can help, even just a little bit. Palm Springs seems to me to be a real Oasis City in the Desert, with already breathtakingly beautiful landscaping, right there! Wish I could teleport myself to that nice, pretty and quite quaint looking land preserve over there, even just for half an hour or so, just for the feel of it!😂 This (urban) park area, with those palms, that pound, those bougainvilleas, and those a bit rough looking desert mountains in the background, plus of course that omnipresent crystal blue, quite magical sky, all remind me somehow of a lovely holiday I once spent in the southwest of Morocco(!) (Marrakesh area/ near the Atlantic Ocean): it really is strangely yet wonderfully reminiscent of that place, naturally and geographically I mean!🤔 Again, thanks Steve, for being our guide once again!🖐
Hi Steve...A.very nice walk throughout the Prescott Preserve ...love the red or pink bushes ...it's great to see property not used for modern houses , condos etc.a place for nature is awesome....thanks for vlogging... Deborah 🇨🇦
Steve, you are a gem! I had no idea about the Prescott Reserve. Right across the street from the Ramon Moblile Home Park that my husband and I are interested in. First, you showed us the Ramon Park, then the Sunrise Park across the other way, and now this beautiful reserve. Thanks so much! We will be moving in just as soon as we can. We need to sell our place in TN first and find the right home in Ramon. It's time for this old gay couple to downsize from 24 acres in the "hinterland" and live in a LGBT friendly cozy cottage/trailer community.
OH what a beautiful day for a walk. & I saw your video 📷 yesterday and talked about how weird people think you are. No you're quite helpful on a difficult topic people's resting place. The older I become the more I understand that you will have to deal with it eventually. I asked you to go find Robin Williams Golden Gate Park in San Francisco and was renamed for Robin Williams & dedicated to his memory. You did that & walked around showing different things & places. Have helped me to turn the pages on people in my life that have passed away over the years and more recently. More accepting of the reality today. But to remember to live for today 🙏. You are not weird.
What a wonderful find! Who knew? Can’t wait to see the full walking tour and then the restoration work to come. Greed could have easily taken over resulting in more apartments, condos and high end homes. One more walk to add to my next time visit list. 💙 Paul
Oh I so love your videos Steve! When you make these videos it takes me back to all those wonderful moments when I lived in PS, RM, PD, and IW. I actually lived there when there was only one traffic light between Palm Springs and Palm Desert so that is a long time ago. It was all wonderful. The weather in the winter time was perfect. I loved the summer night time skies with all the stars in the sky. We came from Hillbilly West Virginia Appalachia holler to Hollywood when I was a teenager then I moved to Palm Springs due to an ice storm coming across country (whole other story). I got married in PS in my 20s. I remember all the wonderful restaurants (Wallys Velvet Turtle and Dominicks which is no longer in Rancho Mirage). Thank you for sharing all these wonderful videos. I have actually posted a lot of old home videos from my Palm Springs days from back in the 70s and 80s and hopefully once I convert the rest of my VHS to DVD copier I will post more from those old glamourous days in Palm Springs. Thank you again!
Hi Dianna, what a small world! Thanks for sharing those memories with us and will go back and search for those vintage images on your channel and look forward to the new ones in the future. Thanks for the heads up. :-)
Great find. I hope you do go back and walk the whole Preserve. I wonder how the property became the Prescott Preserve. Most likely it was a golf course that was owned by someone or something. Hopefully the future of the property will turn into a beautiful Oasis for the area. Enjoy your videos.
Great video Steve . Have a nice night and a nice week .I love the content of your videos like I have said before . I need to walk more and having right knee revision knee replacement in April of this year maybe late March . Its not a easy surgery and more than likely will go to rehab .
I spontaneously burst out laughing when you showed the first group of walkers. After your last video (the “creep” stalker), I now realize that I’m going to laugh every time you show another person in your videos! 😂 Thanks for another great video… beautiful place and bravo to Brad Prescott for donating the land to help preserve some more nature in Palm Springs. 🐟🌴🦉
I love waltzing the perserve! They used to allow dogs but not now 😢 Some people left bags of dog poop, trash etc 🙄💢 It's very relaxing during the summer afternoons. I get excited seeing all the animals. They have a Facebook group too and have bird watching hangouts
I agree, it's a shame about the dogs - and the people who don't pick up after them! ☹️ that’s awesome that you go there too. Thanks for the heads up on the different groups. 😎👍
Good afternoon I guess Steve we are so snowed and iced and that everything’s canceled here closed. Can’t even get out of our driveway. We live out in the middle of the woods.
@ well I don’t work. I worked a little years ago because I grew up slow, especially but my fiancé works and nobody’s doing anything around here right now. It’s that bad.
When I'm up to it I like to walk at a nearby state park/preserve for gopher tortoises. I wish I could walk more. I'll just keep living through your walking lol. Thanks friend lol
Hi, Steve and tanks as always for sharing your walks. Happy new year and may it be the best for you and Jim...could that golf course been one that Sinatra, Martin or Davis Jr. played?
Hi William, it’s very possible that they played there. They played in lots of different golf courses around the desert. I hope you have an awesome new year too. 😎👍
On my recent stay in PS, the condo we rented backed up to the Preserve; I noted a jogging group making use of the trails, and while I was told that there was some overnight homeless camping and drug usage, I didn’t see any evidence of it (though I didn’t get to explore much of it). It sounds like a promising development.
Steve keeps his eyes wide open all the time He loves to vlog his travels for about a dime In about 20 minutes he's out of time Because he's kind he vlogs his mind As sure as night is dark and day is light Steve wont scare you or start a fight Happiness is his motto you got that right Because he's kind Steve Vlogs all the time. Haha Johnny Cash I'm not.
I would go nuts in PS, because I AM such a dog person. I have noticed through our walks with you so many places/trails do not allow the pups. PS- Beautiful 'nature-space'
I discovered this today too while driving on El Cielo Drive from Rancho Mirage to jury duty at the Palm Springs courthouse on Tahquitz Canyon! I thought it was part of the old Mesquite CC too! P.S. Banning drones are also for neighbors' privacy because people use drones to spy.
Been there many times. Am a donor to the Oswit Land Trust. It is named after Brad Prescott who donated the money to acquire the old golf course for the land trust.
@@steveinpalmspringsca wow i guess its because my life has been in such a turmoil lost my mom and a daughter also but i did enjoy meeting your mom sorry for your loss to creepy stee lol
It great to see people trying to preserve nature instead of developing it. Thanks for sharing this with us.😊
I know, right? And from what I read online, there were lots of developers competing with this person who paid for and donated the land. Nice to know that not every rich person is greedy these days! 😎👍

It's so pretty there! When I watch your videos I feel better because where I live it's just endless cold and snow . Keep up the great work Steve I really appreciate you ❤😊
WOW. I've heard about the Prescott Preserve but this is just fabulous. This is obviously an Ossia in the middle of Palm Springs. Wow thanks Steve 🎈💥

Hi Steve!! I just subscribed yesterday. I had no idea you had another channel!!! Double time with my friend!! Yay!😊❤

Thanks for subscribing Leesa! :-)
Thanks, Steve, for doing the research on this new development in Palm Springs.
Steve, what a gorgeous area. It's a healthy sign for PS to turn a golf course into a nature preserve so the people and wildlife can be restored! Love it!!!!

SURPRISED!! A beautiful surprise! I love that pond and I hope the rest will be as nice! Thanks😊

Wonderful to have and protect an area like this these days Steve!
The preserve looks beautiful Steve. Im glad the land was donated and not paved over.
Such a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing this. I'm so glad it's not being developed.😊
Thanks for this nice video. 😊👍🌴🌞

What a fantastic use of an old golf course. I hope it stays as a preserve/reserve (?)
Beautiful walk. Thanks for the sights!

Great share! Thanks!!
Oh Steve Bouginvilla Bushes (i am sure I killed the name) are so Beautiful and Deep Pinks! Thank you for yhe walk. 🌺
They are my favorite flower too! 😄👍
When I moved to palm springs in 1976 that gold course was called Clarkstons then turned into FAIRCHILDS back in the 1980s
Thanks for sharing that with us Mike!
Beautiful area! I hope they trim up the dead palm fronds. Palm trees are so stunning when kept trimmed. Rats love to live in the built-up dead ones.
I love waltzing the perserve! They used to allow dogs but not now 😢
Some people left bags of dog poop, trash etc 🙄💢

Wow! Not only creepy but hangry too? LOL. That looks like a very interesting place. I would be curious what the plans for the future development are.
Lol! 😂👍
Good afternoon I guess Steve we are so snowed and iced and that everything’s canceled here closed. Can’t even get out of our driveway. We live out in the middle of the woods.
Yikes, that sounds way too cold Sheila! 🥶 but I guess that’s one way to call in sick lol! 😂👍

I feel like i get my walk time in by laying in bed watching you get out and about.
LOL :-)
Great nice and quiet trail amazing side note my sons where’s shorts all year long he doesn’t like long pants either
My kind of guys. I only wear long pants a week or two in January. The rest of the year is shorts only lol! 😄👍
👍🏼awesome he feels more comfortable in shorts thanks for sharing

I would go nuts in PS, because I AM such a dog person. I have noticed through our walks with you so many places/trails do not allow the pups.
PS- Beautiful 'nature-space'
My brother in law used to golf that when the course was there. He told me it was being turned into a golf course.
Walk a beautiful walk your weather is perfect if you ask me 65 is ideal it was 13 here this morning got up to 23 this afternoon noon 😂😂😂
Yikes, that's cold!! :-O
@ 😂😂😂
Must have been a lovely golf course in its heyday , it's good that a developer didn't get their hands on it.
It was beautiful. And yes, it’s nice to hear that the developers don’t always win. 😄👍

Wow, it doesn't sound like you're in a city either.
Second to like missed it by one lol ❤❤
😄👍
No smoking good rule I like that. Smoking 🚬 stinks
Not to mention it could start a fire.
Steve two questions do you still do grave sites and how is your mom been some time since you had her on
Hi Michael, thanks for asking. Not as often and my mom died almost four years ago. :-(
@@steveinpalmspringsca wow has it been that long since you introduced her to us
@@steveinpalmspringsca wow i guess its because my life has been in such a turmoil lost my mom and a daughter also but i did enjoy meeting your mom sorry for your loss to creepy stee lol
No drones could be to insure there’s no excuse to leave the walking path and onto the no walking terrain.
I haven’t thought about that, but that makes a lot of sense. 👍
Well, if you can’t chase wildlife with drones, what’s the point of going?! 😂😂😂
😂👍
Hi Steve, I’m coming to Palm Springs soon to film a documentary about it. Would love to connect! How to reach you? Do you have Instagram? Thank you ❤
