I'm assuming this has clean HDMI out?
Does it overheat when used as a webcam for extended periods of time?
Can it be continuously charged via the USB C while it's also streaming?

Does it have a 30-min record limit?

Is the image quality better than the latest GoPro? Or better than the latest flagship phone from Apple, Samsung or Sony?

    • @BuzStringer
      @BuzStringer ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@AnthonyGoodley I'll save everyone some time. Other reviews are saying it's pretty mediocre. It's all Canons last gen tech, the image quality it's nothing special.
There's bad design choices like the deadcats covering the screen.
Recording time is limited to 30 mins but it doesn't matter because it overheats after 20mins.
If you have this years or last years Apple or top end Sony or Samsung. They already do a better job.
Of course research yourself, but that's what the other publications are saying.

I feel Canon has really understood the brief for this camera. The image quality and connectivity looks spot on. The fact they've change the video orientation when holding the device is landscape speaks volumes of who this is for. They're going to get the 'why not use my phone' argument, however, the audio input, auto ND filter, webcam plug and play seems to edge that argument. I could see people buying a few of these at a time and having a multi-cam setup.

  • @davidaltizer

Some of the cons I think are important to mention:
    1. Autofocus is contrast based. Works fine but not as good as dual pixel AF.
    2. Rolling shutter or "Jello" is pretty bad. You can see in his 4k footage it's not great. Gets really wobbly handheld. Consider shooting 1080p for selfie shots. Helps with rolling shutter performance.
    3. No custom picture profiles. They have the "Art filters" but they look pretty bad and there is no settings to adjust the standard picture profile on this camera like all other Canon cameras.
Not a con, but something to be aware of, there is a rumor of a V100 which will be similar to this V10 that has an APS-C sensor and dual pixel AF. It's not out yet... and we don't know when that will happen, but for me something like that would be more appealing. All that being said... I loved using the V10 when I played with it and may pick one up myself! It's kind of the perfect "DAD CAMERA".
Great video Omar and Think Media and CONGRATS OMAR ON THE BOY!!!!!

Right from the start, I knew this video had to be sponsored by Canon because of your title.
I'm surprised many of the comments here sounded so kind.
You have missed out some important observations. I've had this camera for several weeks. I will fill in the missing details and be brutally honest:
    1. Without the digital IS turned on, the video becomes VERY jerky when you walk even ever so gently. It is practically unusable. It improves a little when you turn on the basic digital IS. But you lose the wide angle feature and I guess you are zoomed in to some 23mm or so. What's the point?
    2. The camera's battery life is short for 4K recording. I think it will last for about 40 minutes only.
    3. The V10's autofocus (AF) is horrendous. You get "focus flutter" occasionally -- The camera loses focus easily and it takes literally a few seconds for it to be back in focus. This is the biggest downside of this camera. It's 2023 but Canon still obstinately refuses to innovate but give consumers an old contrast-detection AF technology.
This camera is good perhaps for those who don't want to use their phones to record videos, for whatever reasons. You are also better off recording vlogs without moving around too much.
Who should get the Canon V10? I think if I were a parent and I want to start my10 year old kid on shooting videos, then yeah, this is the camera to get for junior.
What about the rest of us?
You do know you have a very capable iPhone that can already do wonders, don't you?
I urge people not to trust completely the reviews you watch on TH-cam. They can be very biased.

I’ve bought expensive DSLR cameras and lenses for about 4 years now.. one day I found a canon G20 for $150.. and it’s my most used camera.. my TH-cam channel did so good even tho I went from 4K to a 10 year old camera.. the drop in quality allowed me to record 4-5 hours to make it in to an hour video. I’m an audio person so my requirement is having a Mic input and recording 5+ hrs non stop. My modern cameras even at 1080p I would record max 2.5 hours before filling two expensive 128gb cards (and video is broken in two memory cards).. with the g20 I can record a whole month over 65 hours on a single cheap 512gb sd card.. now I’m considering upgrading to the G70 as it’s the same size as the g20 but I’m scared how much space 1080p takes on the G70. Also considering this camera as it’s smaller than a G70. You think it can record non stop for 5+ hours? Would it’s fill a 512gb micro sd in one night?

This kind of camera should be compared to having a phone with you that is anyway in all of our pocket nowadays. What benefit could I possibly have with this canon compared to an Iphone 14 for example.
I'm always looking in to small little cameras that would perform well but these phones are getting so good I think the small camera market is struggling.
    Pros of the phone:
    1. This has only one focal lenght. My iphone 14 pro has 4.
    2. IS on the iphone is better as it also has optical stabilization on top of the digital one.
    3. Image guality is pretty similar(?) but iphone shoots 4K 60fps.
    4. Iphone is already in my pocket so the cost difference is not really an issue..
    Pros on the canon:
    1. It is not as expensive so if someone steals it that won't be such a big issue.
    2. Iphone has no screen you can see when vlogging using the front facing main cameras.
I think you are missing out on an opportunity to talk about phones vs. point and shoots on this video. Makes Canon happy but not the viewer.

this supports multiple sd cards, whilst phone when your storage is full you cant do much.
this has a stand and that can be beneficial anywhere. phone doesnt have a stand and can be frustrating to use.
this doesnt get distracted by calls or messages
this has bigger sensor and would do better in lower light video
in summary, yes everyone already has a phone but theres no reason in upgrading a phone for no real benefit when you can get a separate device dedicated to a camera. either stick to the current phone or buy a camera, this or another.

Oh man, I want this! This would be PERFECT for me. I vlog at conventions while I'm in cosplay, which for a lot of my costumes, it's literally impossible to vlog in them because the cameras are too large and I have no way to hold them without breaking either my costume, or the camera equipment (by not being able to grip, and dropping them). So this would be the best option. Now I need money lol

Hi! At the moment I film my TH-cam video’s with my smartphone, but I need a new one and it can become expensive very quick. I’m thinking about this Canon V10. Normally I don’t vlog. I make art video’s and I film my behind the scenes when I’m photographing in my home studio. I need a camera that can focus from really up close when I want to film those detail shots in an artwork. Also I want to be able to lock the focus and lighting in automatic mode so the light isn’t flickering when I speed up the footage and so that the camera stays focused on my paper instead of the back of my hand or my paintbrush. Can this camera do this? Do you know that? Also, can I control the camera from another device like a phone or a tablet? I hope you can help me with this.

      i'm using ZV1F right now
What ZV1F win over V10 is
-Better Auto Focus in 4k and Product showcase mode ( in case of you want to pick something to show on front of the camera and it will focus your hand not your face)
-Rarely to get overheat with 4K
-Smooth skin function can use over Picture profile, IS, Creative mode and with 4k recording.
-Picture Profile S-log2-3 and HLG-2-3 for color grade in post (in 8bit but it's there)
-Swappable battery and battery it shared model with ZV1 ZV1 mark2 and RX100 if you want to upgrade in the future.
-Buttons layout are still in compact camera form. if you used other compact cameras before you don't have to re-learn to use it.
      ZV1F limitation
-No ND filter inside the lens module
-4k Record will dimm your screen so bad. Not practical to shoot over the sunlight
      -IS is not good
-Color science is not good. Video and Still. Dull and unnatural (Depends on person but I saw V10 with standard profile give a colorful color and more balance feel than Sony)
-Battery is so weak. You need 3 of them for heavy shoot in one day
-Build quality is not so good. front buttons are too toyish and mushy unpredictable
-Mic quality sound like walkie talkie in some situation. if you want bassy and warmth sound you need to buy a external mic.
-No auto gain for audio recording. if loud bang or sudden loud sound happen entire audio in your video in that moment will distorted so bad.
      What V10 win
-Super low profile good for street photography and restricted photograhpy place
-ND filter built in to control your motion blur and bokeh in daylight situation
-Better with color sceince and skin tone. if white balance is correct v10 is far away better color than ZV1F
-Better mic quality and auto gain.
-More compact size ( shorter than Iphone 14 plus but fatter )
      -More ergonomic for self-video shoot
-Better build quality than ZV1F. V10 feel more plasticky but no click and crack sound mushy feel that happening with my ZV1F dial wheel.
      -Built in camera stand
      V10 limitation
      -IS is not good
-4K reduce performance to autofocus and overheat issue
-Smooth skin you can't use with IS. video will pretty shaky
-Battery is unswappable. you can shoot only 50min for 4k resolution
-This camera design for auto operation uses. if you want to fully manual set the speed shutter or apature this camera will torture your experience so bad.
-You have to get the rig for attatch equipments such as mic or mic reciever.
      that's all in my opinion
