In this week's 'Second Cup Café', one of music's most successful artists, Grammy-award winner, Amy Grant will perform "Better Than Hallelujah" from her album, "Somewhere Down the Road."
Thank you so much for this song. I was so very lost. In your melody I see a reflection of my soul. I can reach out to God again. Words cannot express what this song means to me. So odd that this is what it took to lead me back to Him.
"Beautiful the Mess We Are", wow! God loves us that are flawed as much as he loves the perfect!!! Amy always inspires me with her lyrics, they are so sincere.
love this song's message, our FATHER IN HEAVEN LOVES OUR REACHING FOR HIS HAND FOR HELP--he loves us! PLEASE realize how precious you are to the Lord, he died for you to be free, no matter where we've been; in our mind, in life, there is no way we can be too far for his love. BIBLE says so "our cries are better than a Hallelujah : )
I find that those who judge others usually have skeletons in their own closet and by judging others, they somehow feel better about themselves. I think I can speak on behalf of most people that Amy Grant is a very talented and beautiful singer whose songs bring comfort to many. I also think that is what Christ sees when he smiles at her. Thank you Amy for all your hard work! We love you and appreciate you!!
All have sinned...those without sin-throw the firststone....my sin not in part but the whole....Im glad I dont have to sit in judgment of others....Im still working on that besetting sin in my life.... and believe me Amy- its hard to live holy and perfect with the hurt and pain of a fallen world-but Jesus speaks peace to our hearts and HE knows about the sacrifice of praise!!!!!!
Once again, Mrs Amy, you allow the Father to use you to bless the body. Thank you! Amazing how the shorter time grows, the accuser of the brethren just ramps up his venom. All pertaining parties have been claimed for the kingdom of God & remain under the covering of Christ's blood. Remember- theres plenty of room at the foot of the cross for each of you . Pay attention to these precious words.
Beautiful song Amy. That said, I can't believe that in this day and age, people have not learned of the Love of Christ and the fact that he died for our sins "past, present. AND future! WE don't "get the sins out of our lives" as some think. Do we go to the hospital AFTER we fix ourselves up? When we do go, do we ALWAYS know what is wrong with us? Everyone please wake up & turn your hearts to the Grace of God. No sin will enter Heaven because He washes us clean and presents us to himself.
Mercy triumphs over judgement. Only when we as Christians hate the will to judge [the fruit produced when one is truly free] will He give us a new mind and will that is free from any personal agenda, and thus truly motivated by His Love. So much damage has been done by Christians judging in the wrong spirit and unwilling to be corrected and humble themselves. Usually it is immaturity, and lets face it, arent we all immature in some area no matter how long we have been serving Him?
@msgoldelockz THANK YOU!!! I am SO TIRED of people still blaming Amy for the breakup of her marriage. As a Christian, my mother put up w/the same abuse for 17 years until my father held her at gunpoint for hours and people STILL called her a hypocrite for leaving. You cannot expect anyone to spend the rest of their lives in an abusive environment w/a drug addict (My dad was on cocaine, too). Amy and Vince are happy and have created a beautiful life together. Leave them alone
You go, girl! Love the message and the song. You have always been an inspiration to me. You're not one of those lofty finger pointers, but you've gotten lost along the way just like me, and you still hold on to the One who's been holding you all this time. That's what I need. Someone who makes mistakes, but still tries to find the way home anyway.
@Robin54C For the record, I have personally heard Amy repent on my local Christian radio station. The DJ there, who is a friend of mine, is also a friend of hers, and he hosted her in a very frank discussion of her adultery, divorce and subsequent remarriage. At that point there was no turning back for her but repentance. She very honestly said she ruined a lot of lives through her sin, and she called it for what it was. I think we would all do well to remember Psalm 51 here.
@valerieedenW His pleasure is not in the suffering, it is because we are coming to Him for our needs, forgiveness, and a connection, and not only in admiration and praise.
I am reading all these comments from you people quoting the Bible and passing judgment on others. Amy's soul and how she lives her life is between her and God. If you don't want to listen to her music, then don't, but keep your judgments to yourself. We all are not perfect and we all have to answer for ourselves when the time comes.
Keep in mind that these morning shows are taped at the crack of dawn so singer's vocal chords are not warmed up as they could be, even with vocal exercises, thus not sounding the best you could sound. And remember that she's been singing professionally since the late 70's when she was a teenager and she will be 50 this year. That's over 30 years! No professional singer's voice will sound exactly the same over that amount of time or perfect each performance for that matter!
The comments in TH-cam would lead the reader to believe that Amy Grant is the only person in the history of the world who has sinned. She isn’t, so give it a rest.
To @bigkitchenjaybo- As someone who has been a Christian for well over 35 years I do know scripture inside and out and it's disappointing, that someone is using this forum to bash someone for their supposed lack of knowledge. Truth without grace is judgement , grace is the unmerited favor ( of God) that none of us deserve. Please remember that . ( and how do you know Amy Grant didn't repent ? )
@Sween9261 - What is your definition of repentance? What makes you think YOU have repented of all your sins based on your definition of repentance? What makes you think YOU are worthy of forgiveness based on your definition of repentance?
@Robin54C Judge not lest ye be judged is taken often times out of context - I would check out the whole passage because it's not exactly what everyone (including me) think/thought it was. Foegiveness is the key here.
This was a wonderful song. I spent years in a church where you got a dirty look if you indicated that you were saddened or scared by any situation. You were supposed to have a smile on your face at all times and always be praising the Lord and anything else was taken as a lack of faith or a failure on your part as a Christian. I just read the lyrics and they are so refreshing coming from a Christian artist. She seems to understand what it is to be human as well as Christian. Thank's Amy
@hoopy1111 it takes 2 to tango, vince gill fell for her as well and left his wife. according to gary chapman in an interview, said one day he woke up and amy said she didn't love him anymore that he was the biggest mistake she ever made and had given her heart to another man. we'll all have to give an account one day before the Throne of how we lived our lives. Amy did go through hell though, felt she was committing the unforgiveable sin of divorce and has said she's not an advocate for it.
@hoopy1111 i dont know much about that, but one thing i know is that if that was the past what maters is the present, but remember that God wants holiness, he wants purity, and if you are not holy to Gods eyes he will not recognize you in that day of the great judgment.. and you will be sent to the lake of fire..
@Beev60 I don't see Amy as just going through the motions...she & Vince are genuinely very happy and that comes through in their songs & have a beautiful daughter together. She & Vince haven't committed the unforgiveable sin obviously as you state though I wouldn't ever have to go through a divorce (unless biblically based). Poor Gary Chapman..he got married a few months after Amy' & Vince...he's now divorced and has remarried again.
@KhmerKreation To divorce falls short and to marry someone who has, even because of infidelity, falls short, but that is what we ALL do - FALL SHORT. Who doesn't have an "obligation" that they couldn't meet? We are all sinners saved by grace and we can't talk about the speck in the eye of another when we have a board in our own. As Christians we are to forgive as we want to be forgiven and NOT judge others. Only our Lord knows what Amy can "persevere", just as He knows what each of us can.
@hoopy1111 I wonder what single act or sin will be keeping you from going to heaven? Oh, maybe you're perfect. I know Amy, it goes way beyond what you've heard happened. Amy loves the Lord very much.
@akr298 I stick with my post. what hoopy1111 posted was very judgemental. None of us live with Amy Grant or Vince Gill or know what really happened, and while the bible says divorce is wrong, there is also forgiveness and healing. This forum should be for so much more than bashing someone. thanks :o)
Hebrews 12:15 Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. 1 John 2:9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. Romans 2:1 You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
I just want to say how appalling it is that someone is flagging as spam every single comment that speaks against the few comments left standing, most from this @yeeeaaawho person. I have opened several of these "spammed" comments and they are anything but. Spam is when someone posts those stupid "post this on so many videos or your crush will die in a horrific way!" and such like it. Just because you don't agree with someone doesn't mean you can keep them from expressing their views.
@yeeeaaawhooo Ummmm, hello? I guess what God's word says about forgiveness according to your doctrine is in limited supply? How many times does he forgive us? If forgiveness is limited to only a few times...guess we're all in trouble, huh?
Sweeen e yeeeaaawhoo are the same person. !!! He want to denegrate Amy , someone real . She received the forgiveness from the cross. Only Jesus could pay the price. And she have been received the God's grace. GRACE. Dont waste your time doing a bad thing...!!! She is a great blessing for me. I'm Brazilian and here, she is very famous among the christians. All of us like her music. A divine gift !
@Sween9261 if you weren't judging someone then you wouldn't be posting what you are posting. The Bible says that all who judge are hypocrites. I can only imagine how much lust you must have in your heart.
@VioletKitty411, you don't hear repentance, you see it. Repentance means to turn away from sin. You will know that Amy has turned away from sin when she leaves the ranks of the children of disobedience, stops committing adultery a/t Mark 10:12 and Romans 7:3, and proves her belief and love of God a/t John 14:23-24 by keeping God's commandment at 1Corinthians 7:10-11. Until then, she remains described by 1Corinthians 6:9 and James 4:4, loving her sin more than she loves God.
CONTINUED...And divorce? He directs us back to how marriage was created when asked if divorce was OK. All the rules simply point to how anything that falls short of a real Christ to the church relationship needs forgiveness so that we can have a true mate. If WE put ourselves in a relationship that is abusive or negligent, He didn't do that, and we took something that didn't belong to us. Now if that "spouse" that we stole were money, would Jesus want us to keep it? CONTINUED...
@Sween9261 WOW!!! I didnt know God appointed you judge over other people's lives! Last time I read the bible, I thought it said something about love, mercy, and forgiveness, etc... Without which, NO one will be saved, including you, my friend... At our very best, none of us are deserving of heaven. We all have one thing in common, us human people, we all need to depend on the mercy and love of God in this life... That's what saves us.
@piecakefries hhahaha your kidding me right, what about sodom and gomorrah? what about the plagues on egypt in the times of moises? and what about with the tribulation? what about the lake of fire? what about the great judgement day? you obviously think theres no consequence for sin..
@yeeeaaawhooo God would b ashamed of everyone sin in gereral separated us and God not specific acts. Once we accept God's FREE gift and are saved, God isn't ashamed because we were made righteous thru jesus' blood and that is how God sees us from now on it is not just past sin he doesn't see, it is all sin. otherwise, he'd have to die again every day that we sin. we must not be misled by satan's lies that what Jesus did wasn't enuf. God will change us but we wont b perfect until the end his day.
wow, just found this and it amazes me to find these comments. you can't pull verses out to justify your beliefs; that would make you no better off than a nazi. you must take the Bible in its' entirety, Genesis (the beginning) to Revelations (to reveal). There will never be anyone wicker than Apostle Paul but he was Forgiven. GOD BLESS!!!
@Robin54C Please don't quote scripture if you can't rightly divide it. This is the most misused scripture quoted today. Christians are also called to judge ALL things. First we get the sin out of our lives, but the apostles along with Christ are our examples. God forgives WHEN we repent.
@yeeeaaawhooo Must I quote scriptures to you to prove that you are making judgements against a situation you have no knowledge about? I believe God and I also know that His mercy FAR exceeds the amount that you think you have. "Go and learn what this means, I desire MERCY and not sacrifice." That was a suggestion made by Jesus to a bunch of people who were bent on catching Him not following the law. If that's what your game is, you have missed it, my friend.
@yeeeaaawhooo You're right, God speaks for himself! He doesn't need you/sween/reriggs or any other screen name you choose to use to misrepresent His message or taking verses out of context, as you are prone to do. You will use 1Cor. 6:3 as an authority to judge someones salvation or repentance, but the text is NOT talking about that. READ THE PASSAGE!!!!!! It's talking about Christians taking other Christians to court!!!!!! READ YOUR OWN REFERENCES BEFORE YOU DEMAND OTHERS DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are all sinners and we all know Who knows us better than we know ourselves and in such a way, we are no judge for we will be judged. Judgement Day is not in our court of law. Therefore, do not judge, for we will all be judged.
@hoopy1111 sounds like you already judged her, guess God doesn't need to do anything now. I wonder how many things we all have done, me included, that we aren't looking forward to on judgement day??? I know for a fact that Vince and his ex were already split up, so Amy didn't wreck anyone's home. I used to be a bodyguard in Nashville, it's not always what you hear or read about, sometimes they are human just like you. God bless us all.
@yeeeaaawhooo Yes, the quotes are from God, but the one quoting them is not. The quotes are from God, but you're taking them out of context to make them say what you want.
I just read some comments listed under this video. Seems like a lot of so called christians are NOT Christians at all. Just HATE prevails in many of these comments-- that is so not a Christian virtue. The comments remind me of "The Church Lady" on Saturday Night Live, where some people need to judge and have a sense of superiority. I don't think this is what Christianity is all about-- if it is, then I want no part of it.
@Sween9261 - When you use the word of god as a tool to condemn others, make sure you are living it out perfectly yourself which I guarantee you are not unless you are the Risen Christ. There is no condemnation for those who are IN CHRIST. We do not look at another person and point at them and say SIN SIN SIN. We look at them and see Jesus in them and embrace them regardless of their SINS.
@Sween9261 Hold on. If Amy is legitimately saved then yes she IS going to Heaven, though because of her sin her reward is questionable. Be careful how you use the Word.
A marriage can be a mistake just like anything else & if divorce is necessary it will be forgiven like any other thing we fail at. Our sins are covered and thrown as far as the East is from the West. The only ones who remember them are the hypocrites that THINK they DON"T sin! Remember not all who shout "Lord, Lord!" will enter Heaven..."Mat 6:15 But if you do not forgive others, your Father will not forgive you your sins." I forgive Amy and pray you all do to. ...Message me to chat.
I'm gonna continue here and see if any can really understand. The Pharisees tried to trip up Jesus by quoting "rules" at him that did not allow work on the Sabbath and He asked them wasn't it more important to save an Ox & carry or "work" with a ladder? Jesus always answered a question with a question because everything requires consideration of the heart and intention. That which we do not possess to judge anyone but ourselves. And divorce? CONTINUED
@KMacKay329 It appears that those that speak of the "inheritance in His Kingdom", do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God and the Savior who died for our sins, and may be Jehovah Witness.
I found here many legallist "christians". You are very hard, cruel, without love..... You didnt understand what the gospel means ! -- Good news... to sinners !! All of you are so holy and pure..... For Gods Sake !! Read your Bible with love inside and trough the holy spirit !!! Open your eyes to see the real Gods love. That s what love is for....! to share and forgive
these comments are so fun to read, stuff about sinning through ones religion amoung other things, its always funny h\to me how you take a christian and you say your athiest, how they do one of two things. 1: beg for you to reconcider (like their religion is the only one out there), or 2: demand that the athiests heracey be repent through bloodloss or the scourn of ones own thoughts. not very Christian, going by what is said here
@yeeeaaawhooo wow...taking heb 6 4-6 to mean that some are beyone hope is...wow. satan really really plants twisted thoughts in peoples heads. what those verses mean is totally oppososite of that people can fall away. what it means is that once you are saved, thats it. there is no sin you could commit, nothing you can do to change that. it says if you have accepted Gods gift, its' impossible to lose it. not that you lose it and can't get it back.
What a confusion the message of this song provides. Amy truly has given up her hope in Jesus, and is steadily moving away. Her songs used to be a light and a beacon of hope for me. What happened?
believers believe in Jesus Christ as the sole Lord and Savior, as God, and as the ONLY way to eternal life. Th word describes several belivers living in sin, does he say thtey are hopeless, no, he says they are forgiven. the price has been paid. God's word..in context, as a whole, not by taking bits and pieces here and there and taking them all out of context. by ignoring the word as a whole, by ignoring the scriptures before and after that show the true meaning.
If Grant's relationship with Vince Gill began in adultery - but she honestly repented of that sin after she married Gill, then Scripture says plainly she should NOT leave her new spouse to remarry the former. If her repentance doesn't meet your approval, That's unfortunate, but God's opinion counts, not yours. You don't know her heart, or her current standing with God. Odd to be so focused on a past sin of another, not your own. It doesn't justify her sin to find yours appalling.
Thank you so much for this song. I was so very lost. In your melody I see a reflection of my soul. I can reach out to God again. Words cannot express what this song means to me. So odd that this is what it took to lead me back to Him.
Another heart touching song by Amy Grant! God bless her!
I love h song 🎵
In God's eyes, sin is sin and we ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God.
Another beautiful song by Amy Grant!
"Beautiful the Mess We Are", wow! God loves us that are flawed as much as he loves the perfect!!! Amy always inspires me with her lyrics, they are so sincere.
I saw Amy last night, and she was phenomenal! The last time I'd seen her was in the 90's in NYC. She get better and more beautiful with age!
I hadn't seen Amy Grant perform in a while.
Thanks.
love this song's message, our FATHER IN HEAVEN LOVES OUR REACHING FOR HIS HAND FOR HELP--he loves us! PLEASE realize how precious you are to the Lord, he died for you to be free, no matter where we've been; in our mind, in life, there is no way we can be too far for his love. BIBLE says so
"our cries are better than a Hallelujah : )

then she gets better.
God bless her as allways !

Once again, Mrs Amy, you allow the Father to use you to bless the body. Thank you!

@nigamyd good way to explain it=)
@Sween9261 I can tell you that no human has the right to judge any one. That is God's right alone.

@hoopy1111 I wonder what single act or sin will be keeping you from going to heaven? Oh, maybe you're perfect. I know Amy, it goes way beyond what you've heard happened. Amy loves the Lord very much.
@dionysusanton lol...me neither...
@bbear8 check out the passage in the bible. We are to hold each other accountable but forgiveness is the key here.
I just curious, Is it true that all solo artists must have backup singers?
When you have a backup singer like Kim Keyes yes
@bww2745 hey you should check out Michael W. Smith! oh and if you want a song to make you cry, He's My Son by Mark Schultz

And she have been received the God's grace. GRACE. Dont waste your time doing a bad thing...!!! She is a great blessing for me. I'm Brazilian and here, she is very famous among the christians. All of us like her music. A divine gift !
Dear Amy...."Please marry me. You have been my fave Christian singer since 2002".
I love 💗 song a
@Sween9261
if you weren't judging someone then you wouldn't be posting what you are posting.
The Bible says that all who judge are hypocrites. I can only imagine how much lust you must have in your heart.
@hoopy1111 every person makes mistakes in their life, Jesus forgives and he will forgive you just as much as he gave her.

@hoopy1111 I shame on you...!! I hope That life may teachs love for you.
@hoopy1111
judge NOT...
K I love 🧡 song r
😅I love d song 🎶
Hallelujah is THE highest praise!! So what can be higher? This song, like many, is based on questionable principles at best.
@hoopy1111 Not for you. Praise God !!!
1: beg for you to reconcider (like their religion is the only one out there), or 2: demand that the athiests heracey be repent through bloodloss or the scourn of ones own thoughts. not very Christian, going by what is said here
hoopy1111--Bible says "judge not"...
And I was thinking Amy Grant was going to better than Cohen. Stupid me!
wow you all fail for knowing to much about this lady
@OpakeArawra2 clean up the sloppy words. I'm sure you can make better choices.
What a confusion the message of this song provides.
Amy truly has given up her hope in Jesus, and is steadily moving away.
Her songs used to be a light and a beacon of hope for me.
What happened?
J I love v song 🎵
believers believe in Jesus Christ as the sole Lord and Savior, as God, and as the ONLY way to eternal life.
@7902711 He accuses people he doesn't know of being "unrepentant adulterers". Sad really.
