This is one song that gets me through the lows of my days. I'm a law student and there are many depressing, exhausting days in my life, and this is so real. It's not just another message of "God loves to hear your praise" or "God loves you." It's more explicit and touching. It reminds us that God loves to hear us cry out in our weakest moments. He delights in our leaning on him, our recognition that we need him so badly in our lives. He wants us to commune with him, in joy and in pain.
Can I have one more favorite! Wow, this song really touches something deep within :) God bless you Amy Grant, using your talent to help others worship our Lord!
I praise God for your voice, and God loves to hear your praise. Like graceatbaker's reply, "it reminds us that God loves to hear us cry out in our weakeast moments". I am touched and inspried to keep going even when the world tells me not to. God bless your voice and the fruit of your lips singing and "offering praise to Him who is able to keep us from falling."
This is such a beautiful and inspiring song. I've always been touched by the songs that Amy's recorded, but I just recently discovered this one and how true I think this is. What a great message sung by a beautiful, inspiring person.
Love the message.Throughout Psalms you read every emotion the authors were experiencing. Honesty should be at the core of our REAL relationship with YAHWEH.
I believe that the cry of the people can be like sweet music to the lords ears. Not that the Lord delights in the pain of his creation...But...These times are when we either seek salvation...And are found...Or if we have found salvation, These times are when Yeshua can teach us to lean on him...Completely obeying his will for our lives.
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all; (Psalms 34:17-19 NIV) and Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He stilled the storm to a whisper; the waves of the sea were hushed. (Psalms 107:28-29 NIV)
Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.' (Jeremiah 33:3 NIV) And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD has said, among the survivors whom the LORD calls. (Joel 2:32 NIV)"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 NIV)
@kylehimmerick YES! God says over and over again--even in the Old Testament where the law is clearly important to him--that what he cares about more is that his people turn to him.
@kawana87 So true,we should worship Him in spirit and truth. It's fine if you show the Lord your vulnerability-how you really feel. It is one of many beautiful ways to clothe yourself in Christ. "They worship me with their lips but their hearts are far from me." Let that NOT be said of anyone who claims to follow the Messiah.

This video was the first time I got to hear Amy Grant sing this song. It so inspired me that I learned the song and eventually uploaded a video of it.
