SSD for sure is better. I’ve had problems with HDD over time but never with SSD so far. There are no moving parts that can break down with SSD. Of course store them somewhere where temperature doesn’t fluctuate much and moisture is minimal.

Yes you should be able to do it. You would setup the app to store directly on the ssd drive.
