  • In This Video I Show You How To Use an External Hard Drive With Your iPhone 12, Im Sure The X & Maybe Even From The IPhone 7 & On You Can Use This Method.
    I Use a WD My Passport 2TB & Atolla 3.0 USB Hub & Apples USB A 3.0 With Lighting Dongle.
    Now if your plugging in a hard drive and nothings popping up you have to make sure it’s compatible , my wd passport had to be formatted to exFAT , you right click on it on a computer then click format , if it’s on NTFS apple will not be able to read it so change it to exFATT and click format , it takes seconds !

      I’m at the same dilemma. I’ve got an iPhone XR; I e purchased all the correct items shown, reformatted my WD Easystore with no luck. To reformat the Easystore required me dumping all of my stuff already stored on it to a computer. Help by finishing or adding another video.

    Super big thanks. I so needed this for my yoga recordings. It was not doable to upload hours worth of content through the cloud and this made it possible for me to store the content and then get it off my phone to make space. Also helpful to then use the content in I movie for editing. I am grateful, thanks for sharing.

    Hi, great video thank you. I do property inspections and have upwards of 50 gigs of photo & video on my phone. I'm required to keep all of it for a number of years. I’m paying for tons of iCloud storage that’s going up each month. I have the same WD 2tb storage that you do but am not skilled enough to make the transfer. I feel like this could be my best long term solution and have ordered the two hubs to make it work. If you could do a short video on how to safely move all of the pictures and videos to the hard drive, then delete completely from the iphone and cloud, you would solve one of my biggest headaches. I appreciate it, thanks for doing this one.

    It also helps if the external hard drive is formatted in "exFAT". If the external hard drive is set to NTFS, or some other format, the iPhone will recognize it, but it will only be in "Read-Only" mode. You can access files, but you can't transfer or copy from the iPhone.

    If your USB device is overheating, Samsung OTG connection can fix it, and won’t overheat anymore. Just connect to the OTG cable, then wait till the phone recognize it or not. Then, power the phone to standby. May need 5-10 retries, depending on your USB device. Overheating consumes more batt power, and the device may malfunction.

    • @junito1008
      @junito1008 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't be that ignorant !! The fact that the HDD or SSD is not powered by the lighting, have nothing to do with the cable or the device...the issue is the power that the HDD needs to work and the battery size of the device that you're using. For instance, if you plug the SSD in an ipad the SSD will work without any power supply.

    Is the trick using that official Apple Lightning/USB adapter?
    (BTW I also have mine plugged into the wall and have a working exFAT thumb drive but it’s not recognizing it.)

    So I heard I'm supposed to check to see what format my external drive is in first. I heard that I'm supposed to make it exfat for me to see the video from the external hard drive to my iPhone. Is that true or can I leave it in the original format?

      Try it first , if it doesn’t show up format it to exFat

    Mmmmm I have a old iPod, which I filled up very quickly. I always wondered if there was a way to have extra music on a external drive....🤷‍♂️ have you tried that?? 🤔🙏

    That was interesting. So can you transfer content to a big HD? Would it be possible to use the iPhone's camera and have the big HD as the target disc? Live? Only the HD volume will limit the time for the camera to record?

      Yes, you can backup documents no problem. I have an iPhone and iPad Pro and although I used cloud services, I do keep a backup data on my external drive.

      Would you do a video with this set up and show how to back pictures and files from your iPhone. Great video. I’ve always wondered why you need a computer to transfer pics and then to external drive. And cut out the middleman 👍🏼
