I've had this watch for a year now, and I really like it. I'm a fireman so I put it through a lot. It's exposed to water and debris frequently and it holds up pretty well. It's definitely chunky. It catches on things pretty often. A real pain with this watch is putting on coats with tight cuffs, like our bunker coat. Also as stated the bezel doesn't really do a whole lot to keep the strap contained. All in all it's a tough watch and I'm constantly putting it to the test and it still looks great and has held up! Keep up the great reviews! Love your channel!

my range man survived tons of field training events and a deployment, I wear it everyday that I put my uniform on. I have the negative display and it works great at all day long and with nods.

This is it! THE casio EDC watch. Sure it looks cool, but is it worth the extra scratch?

What is the benefit to archiving?
Why not let it go without any curating?
      Just wondering.
Thanks for all the awesome vids! Triple owl here 😎🔫🔫

MoreAmerican my guess would be that they monitor the comments to keep them clean, seeing as this is a family channel. After a week they probably need to move on, and don't have time to monitor the comments anymore.
I too am a triple owl, so rock on dude!

Yes, the Rangeman is my favorite Gshock watch! Gshocks have survived thousands of hours in the clinic, banged on treatment tables, chewed on by puppies, thousands of rounds on the range, hours in the outdoors camping and hiking! Great watches!

Nutn, thanks for doing the watch reviews. It's actually inspired me to start a little collection. I've gotten a couple Seiko watches, a Hamilton, and a Casio. I'm sure I'll get more in the future. Just wanted to let you know you're not wasting your time with these and I hope you continue doing them.

In the late '80's I was installing computer network cabling in the really old USDA building in Washington DC. The walls were between 16 and 24 inches thick of solid concrete/rock depending on which floor you were on. I spent many days on top of a ladder holding on to an sds hammer drill drilling through those walls and actually killed several watches. I had to stop wearing them while drilling because it got too expensive to keep replacing them.

Had G-Shocks since they first came out and had this GW9400 for about 2 yrs now. Wish it was slimmer but other than that, it's a great watch. I did not know you could get different cases and straps until now. Just never crossed my mind to look. I may have to get rid of the black in favor of another color now.
    Thanks,

I've had the same $10 digital watch from Wal-Mart for 6 years now. 3 deployments, many schools/training exercises and one $5 Velcro strap upgrade later it's still kicking ass (err tellin time). Haven't even had to change the battery out yet haha. If you offered me to trade it right now for that watch I'd keep ol faithful.

I run the G-shock 9300. Looks very similar, but offers a compass, moon phase calender and display along with a temperature read out. I have enjoyed the watch and recommend it.

I would imagine an EDC kit giveaway would be really cool. Something like those inexpensive casios, a cadet, a knife, and a AAA flashlight. Or a variation if thats too expensive as a giveaway. A social media only raffle would be awful since I refuse to use facebook or twitter or anything else.

I work nights and don't get many days off so after all this time the battery went low but I put it outside to soak up some sun and we're good again. Didn't know they sell bands and bezels seperate so I'm gonna get this od for mine! Great watch

I've had the negative display model for over 2 years now. The negative display is very nice and legible in the extreme dark or outside, especially in direct sunlight. I'd say it's better in those instances than a normal display. In any other kind of lighting, especially indoors, the big light button and auto light feature come in handy.

Love mine. Get used to size. Mine is JDM model, wrist band has carbon fibre core (I'm sick of resin bands breaking). Frustrating thing about all Casio watches is that you can not get sunrise/sunset and moon phase on the one watch, even those with the most features will only ever have one or the other. On the other hand lack of stabiliser wings os a good thing, it gives you a place to stash small items! I've got a small ferro rod held in there with a ranger band. I'm thinking of buying a tiny mecarmy flashlight to hide on the other side.

I'm gonna watch this video like crazy so that you will keep these watch videos going.
I hope one day you will make wrist watch an essential part of your EDC system. I know everybody carries a smart phone that can give you time. But it also gives you so much distraction from emails, social medias, random notifications etc. sometimes all you want to do is check the time.

Hey Nutn, I love your vids and have been a sub for many years. I don’t want to be a downer but I want to let anyone who might be considering a Range Man to know about my son’s experience. For Christmas last year my wife and I bought one for our son. He’s a Marine and we wanted him to have a tough watch when he deploys but he never got the chance to wear it on the job. One day while getting dressed he brushed it against his shirt. The strap came off. He tried but couldn't get it to stay on. So I called Casio. It’s under warranty so I was sure they'd take care of this. Wrong. They told me the warranty only covered the movement NOT THE CASE. I was dumbfounded. How could a watch company that makes what is arguably one of the toughest watches on the planet have a policy like that!?! They flat out refused but told me to send the watch in and they’d provide me with an estimate. I tried to escalate this up the chain of command to no avail. :( I got my first G-Shock in the mid 80s. DW5200 and I still have it. Since then I’ve bought a ton of Casio stuff over the years (they make other things besides watches) but after this interaction with their customer no=service department, I’m done and so is my son.

Love the OD Green. As much as I love analog watch, I have to admit rocking Casio G=Shocks for everyday abuse. When my last G-Shock died I replaced it with a Casio 5 alarm for a position I had at the time, most of my shift was timed out so the alarms came in handy to remind me.

Really glad that Nutn is doing this video. This is the next watch I plan to pick up, but getting it the way I want it means buying different colored cover for FDE (want to avoid the inverted screen and still get FDE) and a different band which drives the price up rather a lot. Now to see if my plan is going to remain the same or change...

The weak spot in G-Shock watches is the rubber around the pins, which tears with age. My 1988 Casio G-Shock is on its 5th set of bands.

I'm with you on the negative displays. I bought a regular G-shock (GD-120MB) last year. It looked cool at the time, but in regular use I find my self using the illuminator fairly often just to be able to read it. I'm 54, but don't need reading glasses. This is the only watch of mine that is hard to read.

Elliott Coker I've worn a G-Shock on duty and still do occasionally. If you are stuck with a department where class A's or long sleeves are mandatory (I have full sleeves and we have a "no visible tats" policy), the G-shock can be a little annoying because the face is fairly large. So it annoys me at the cuff. I have generally swapped to all black Timex Ironnan watches for duty and haven't felt like I'm lacking anything. Except the Ironmans have a tendency for the "indiglo" illumination to stop working after about a year to 2 years. For $30 on average though, they're solid duty watches to beat the hell out of.

Do a review on SUUNTO watches. Better looks than the G Shock
My Suunto core has all these and gps built in with a better look.
They've been making watches with alt/bar + temp for a while now.

Also lots of Suunto watches have bread crumb trail feature and also can connect to your cell phone via bluetooth with out the watch being a 'smart watch'.

I will testify; Casio makes some great cheap watches. You might look into the AQ-S810W or the AQ-S800W. Both have the same functions, but the 800 is slimmer and comes in a cool black and orange. They're both solar and both go for under $40. I got my 800 for $25 at Wal-Mart, and last I checked it's close to that price on Amazon. Both make excellent work watches. Both are 100m water resistant too. They're analog and digital.
      -Timer
      -Stopwatch
      -World time
      -Day, date
      -24 or 12 hour digital
And much more. They're great watches, but I'd say avoid the ones with a gloss finish. That's usually the candy colors, the white, the red, the blue...I bought a white 810 and the gloss finish isn't impressive. It's kinda gross on some of the edges. But your dark blue, black, green probably, those all look really good. If you don't need that much stuff, you can get cheaper ones/smaller ones, but they might scare the ladies away. Nutn's embarrassing watch collection video talks about that in depth.

Man why can't Casio just make a watch that's easy to read? The dial seems too busy, tight, and too small a font for quick read and analysis.
Great review but Not a fan.

Can you set the top display to any of the functions? The Compass is what appeals to me most and I'd like to have rough direction available at any given time.
