Terrific adaptation. Brett’s vocals are a tough act to follow especially on dog man star where I think he’s had some singing lessons to further strengthen a very distinctive voice. So this version works really well with a more softly sung tone.
It's come to my knowledge he's fully sorted things out with Brett, Ed Buller and the rest of the band and stands behind the album as a whole nowadays althougj not being involved with some productional choices.
As a Suede fan, as much as Richard Oakes was a more than adequate replacement (if different), he never managed to nail this song quite as good as BB does here. The difference between playing the music you wrote compared to playing a version of a song perhaps.
I don't think so. Some notes sound like they're played on open strings which aren't capo'd. For example there's an F# chord with the two top strings open. Course there could be more than one electric. Cheers!
Brett Anderson, you mean? Deep down I think Bernard knows this... Hence the constant digs at his former bandmates like the one at the top of the video ("I don't _need_ you, anyway... Honest!")
I love how he's singing this wow almost country western soul
No one can play this as fluently and beautifully as BB!
The sign of a well-written song is it is adaptable to many singers and styles
Bernard Butler is one of the most underrated guitar player and songwriter of the brit Pop era. He was Suede DNA.
This is my favourite Suede song. Never heard this version before, I'm loving it
Dear Brits! Bernard Butler is definitely the best guitarist for you (we in Eastern Europe know this well!)
Great version of this classic and makes sense with it being more of a country version with Bernards voice
Love the simplicity of this they sound great .
We saw them at St. Lukes, this show looks equally amazing!!
This is gospel. Beautiful.
🌲☄🌲Bucking Frilliant in multiple and myriad ways!Well played Mr. Blake & Mr Butler:)🌲☄🌲
My favorite song. Thanks for your sharing :)
Nice version.
Fantastic! I love this song. Thanks for sharing
2nd guitarist to BB. That is a hard job.
I would love to have a clean sounding mp3 of this. I am shocked that he did this. It’s amazing.
Great version 👌
Absolutely amazing.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing this!!
absolute class

Madre mía, si no lo veo no lo creo!!!
incrivel !!!!!
Beautiful.
Beautiful
The outro on the recorded version never existed with Bernard. It was added after he left. He has added it back here.

I really hope they do an album together
Soooooo beautiful
YEEEEEE-HAWWWW - We'll be the WIEEEOOWWDD OUUUNNES BOY! GAWD BLESS AMERICA
Steve Jobs is such a great guitar player.

Oakes created some legendary riffs but something about those first two suede albums is timeless.
Oakes is good but Butler is a virtuoso.

And I bet Bernard wouldn’t play I don’t know how to reach you better than Richard.
Its like a Townes Van Zandt song. Brilliant.
Well that works 🍻
Which one is James Grant? Is he of love and money fame?
Wait. It was capo’d on the record? F&cksticks. That explains why I could never play the electric part.

I don't think so (either).
@Mark Allen I wish there was more tutorial videos of Suede songs on TH-cam. I haven’t got the ear for picking apart all the interwoven guitars.
@Mark Allen Why have you put “tutorial” in quotation marks?
@Mark Cool. I’ll check it out. Seen him before. Nice guy.
oh yes
It sounds more like a Bob Dyan song 😊
Cool version. Should have kept Brett's melody though. It's why we like the song
I like Bernard but always reminds me of a sheep when he sings. Not saying that’s a bad thing
Err it’s definitely missing something?🤔
