Am I alone to see Richard Ashcroft could be singing this song, they have similar phrasing, and the voices aren't super different either. Perhaps they should've had formed a super group. Or get Butler in the Verve when McCabe didn't feel like it anymore. Still not too late I guess, Ashcroft's good solo but lacks a guitar master beside him.
@ChainNonSmoker I've been saying that to everyone, it could definitely be a Richard Ashcroft/Verve song. I know Bernard auditioned with the Verve around 96' for a few sessions but they opted to get McCabe back in with him being the original. Would love to see Ashcroft and Butler make music together...
Absolutely underrated artist, guitarist and one of the greatest debut albums of all time, amazing 😍
Very underrated artist and guitar player!
I was there. This was one of the best performances that year.

Of all Butler’s solo songs, the vocals on this track really sound like they’re primed for Brett Anderson
I saw him live with mcalmont 2002 and was front row, one of the great guitar players.
Was that Leeds ?
He should've made more stuff with his vocals on. They're pretty good.
Great song by the one of best world authors of 90
Simply brilliant.
always love you Bernard !
Thank you for sharing this, it means a lot to hear
Bernard's got a bit of a Roger Mcguinn Byrds look here, amazing song, great performance.

Slowdive's Neil Halstead on guitar.
Guitar god
This has got a bit of an Urban Hymns feel, especially in the coda. I wonder if he wrote/arranged it after playing with Ashcroft during that period.
Hay talento...
This is before the tears?

He was playing with The Verve before McCabe rejoined. Reckon it would have been a bit MOR based on respective solo outputs.
Steve Wyreman is the guitarrist of Richard Ashcroft nowadays and he does it well, he understands the improvisation of Richard.
