honestly i think the sequel completely missed an opportunity for dramatic irony by making the doll actually haunted by Brahms this time. The twist of the first was that the doll was just an inanimate object being manipulated by a regular-degular ass man, so having him actually be haunting the doll would've been a fun twist of fate in the sequel but noooo it's just some demon 💀
Personally I like the subversion from a paranormal ghost story. If you’re going that route why would it matter much if it’s possessed by a ghost or a demon ? It’s two different stories but it’s still the same narrative.
@@dolphinswilltakeover I see the point you're trying to make, it does seem a little odd at first that I'm for the idea of ghostly possession but don't like the demonic storyline the movie took. Personally, I think the second movie kind of ruined the more contained, psychological vibe of the first by making the doll itself behind everything. In the second movie, the doll is something that's been passed down from generation to generation and has been responsible for causing violent behavior in every child that's owned it, one of which being Brahms. The second movie turns human Brahms from a disturbed, sick man to a victim completely controlled by his doll. I personally don't like it since I think it ends up undermining what made the first movie scary in the first place. And honestly, I think that the general premise of the second movie isn't much different than what I suggested. Like you said, there's not much difference between a demonic possession and a ghostly possession, which is why I think the filmmakers could have just cut out the demon middleman and put Brahms in that slot instead. They'd still have the haunted doll storyline and have the ghost of Brahms be influencing the young boy to act violently without jumping the shark and telling the audience that, surprise, even though we spent the entire last movie building up to the fact that the doll wasn't haunted, it was actually haunted the whole time by a demon. I just generally think that the filmmakers missed a very big opportunity to tie in with the previous movie in a much better manner than what we got. Sorry if this is lengthy and all over the place, I don't want to argue or anything, I'm just really oddly passionate about the size of the opportunity that was missed with this sequel 😭

@betwitched_nighthaven He was living in the walls and rarely left, it makes sense he'd try to create some form of companionship to stop himself from going insane due to the lack of any social interaction.
@@saphirestorm7952 good point, that makes logical sense- just the positioning of the doll in the bed and the way it's not covered/tucked in just has some darker undertones imo Obviously it's not fully confirmed and it's totally up to interpretation, though that along with listening to her throughout the house is creepy *and* pervy, in my opinion, totally cool if that's not your take on it though 👍

I LOVED this movieeee.. when Brahms came out with his stinky cardigan through the wall I was like "OH NO! HE'S HOT!".. I mean hell they did the hand thing they needed to know what that would have done 😭.. Also just this pull of a possible child's soul, missing their caretaker and depending on you.. it makes you so.... maternal... terrified but you cant leave this kid alone (especially because Greta is grieving her miscarriage) ... and the fact it's ACTUALLY some guy in the walls makes the scare genuinely WORSE. You lost both your child figure and your fear was replaced with something more immediate... It's GREAT. Second movie doesnt exist in my book

@@boynextdoorsfan what if the pervert doll living in your walls was also yuri
I love how fast u talk. Subscribed!
9 year old me was scared shitless when i watched the trailer by accident 😔
I don't remember him ever being a pervert, I just remember it being a movie of "OoOoOoO a child's ghost haunts this doll and his parents take care of it and get him a baby sitter, so sPoOkY- Nvm he's alive and just didn't wanna deal with his parents but didn't wanna make them sad so he just lives in the walls and moves the doll around to make them happy."
@@saphirestorm7952 he’s a huge freak. British freak. A break, if you will
I mean, fair recollection on your part, but the doll with the dress in the bed (11:41) is uhhh pretty condemning
@betwitched_nighthaven He was living in the walls and rarely left, it makes sense he'd try to create some form of companionship to stop himself from going insane due to the lack of any social interaction.
@@saphirestorm7952 good point, that makes logical sense- just the positioning of the doll in the bed and the way it's not covered/tucked in just has some darker undertones imo
Obviously it's not fully confirmed and it's totally up to interpretation, though that along with listening to her throughout the house is creepy *and* pervy, in my opinion, totally cool if that's not your take on it though 👍
0:23 in this exact specific lighting he actually is kinda cute
The best thing about this video is your nervous laugh as you try to describe what the actual heck is going on in this video. I had honestly never heard of this movie until today haha
This was the first horror movie I ever watched and I remember covering my eyes all the time cause I was so scared XD
I was 11 so I should probably give it a rewatch now ngl. Great video!
Same
LOVED your take on this, PLEASE do House of Wax next 👀👀👀👀👀
@@fischotterchen YOU KNOW HOUSE OF WAX TOO? GAH I LOVE THAT MOVIE AS WELL! I would love to see her opinions on Vincent and Bo
Hear me out guys…

THANK UU

HEARING YOUU ABSOLUTELY
WHAT??😂😭😭
Yeah imma watch this. I LOVE dolls. Especially porcelains. Im intrigued
@@pastellatte2006 DO IT🙌 It's so good👌
The doll imo has a classy and elegant design, and im not even a doll person.
I want your earrings 👀 Also they're perfect for this movie, because it's 100% inspired by phantom of the opera
Why did i scream "MAGGIE FROM TWD?!!" 😭
FR LMAO
8:40 "...the doll?" I giggled
That is the creepiest doll I’ve ever seen 💀💀💀✨ and I’m talkin about Leroy 😅
@@ZeCahli noooo😭😭
@@ZeCahli u right tho👀👀
I’m ngl your lashes look so good what mascara are you using?😭
Fan fact the sequel actually explains a good bit about Brons ( think that's how you spell his name)
Brahms, like the musician. Yeah, the sequel explains more stuff.
This is the first time I’ve seen someone talk about this movie! This movie got me into slashers and the slash genre! Get that bag Greta
I fucking LOVED THIS MOVIE when I first watched it! Positively flipped my shit at the reveal! But once they did the sequel, i got so fucking pissed because it undid and severely ruined everything the first movie did so well. Like some things just DON'T need continuations, they should have left it alone.
Saw the title of this video and it caught my interest and was shocked to you saying it’s THE BOY! I saw trailers to it and thought oh it’s just another silly haunted doll movie and NOBODY has told me anything about the twist! I didn’t even know! The twist is so clever and so much better than the haunted doll stereotype
I never got to watch this movie but from the trailer I thought it was gonna be like all this other horror movies where the kid has an "imaginary friend" who’s actually a demon or whatever. But this video has changed my entire perspective on what a horror movie Truly is.
I love this movie. I actually screamed during the reveal in the first movie!
I loved this movie
What's the movie called
@@luvvhannahh It's called The Doll. There is a sequel but I haven't seen it.
@ thank you soo much!
the face you make the whole time is hilarous
i love Lauren Cohan. i might just watch this strictly only because of my love for her acting lol
The whole video I was just looking at your eyes girl, your lashes are stunning!❤
Omg thank you🤭🤭
I hate how they completely retconned the sequel. Like I will never forget the huge twist scene when he just came out of the wall 😂😂😂
I just found your channel randomly, and listening to you yap about movies is actually super calming when drawing so thank you! :) you earned a new subscriber
I watched this movie cause i saw a hot edit of Brahms. 10/10
The 1st movie was perfect as is. I love the plot twist & how creepy it is. Having a 2nd part just made the 1st one pointless. Its kinda corny but still had its good amount of suspense & the masked male lead was hot!
you’re super chill this video is EVERYTHINGGGG
I remember watching this movie in freshmen year in school years ago lol, and I thought it was just gonna be yr typical haunted doll movie but I love the twist, I was super surprised, really really good movie, as you said very underrated 🔥✨what a good end of the school year movie loll
Malcom is such a good person
Your lashes look incredible!
dude, I used to watch this movie soo much when I was younger!!! I genuinely forgot about this for a while until I saw this in my recommend oml this used to be my favorite movie
nahhh cause y’all need to hear me out about human brahms..
Okay but I rented this movie from RedBox right after it came out, and I was also expecting it to be a typical haunted doll movie and the actual concept was so creepy that it made me get into horror
Don't mean to veer off the subject but your Phantom of the Opera earrings are gorgeous 😍
I remember watching the first “The Boy” movie, but when the second one came out, EVERYTHING I “remembered” from the first completely disappeared like a trauma response. I wanted to watch the second cause I “remembered” the first being actually creepy and good. No wonder I’m afraid of men what the actual fawk.
XD I can't with this title. Please do the sequel next. I'm afraid to because I hear it's not as good.
This is gonna sound so weird now cause I watched this movie when I was like 11 with my best friend and Brahms was our first horror movie crush it’s so weird now 😬
