My favourite class racing here each year. Hate to complain but could we have a bit more coverage of all the cars in the race. Would love to hear more about these great and diverse machines.
Easily the most entertaining, enjoyable and suspenseful motorcar race I have ever watched! The thought that they are using machinery 100 years old and not scared to thrash it.... now that takes guts!
That damned Fiat S76 cracks me up EVERY TIME! The thing is INSANE! And so glorious to run. The Fiat may capture my imagination, but ALL those cars are just nuts and it's a wonder to watch them actually race. Bloody marvelous!
'If the FIAT passes you it's like being overtaken by a block of flats.' - Made my day. Thanks for the great commentary for one of the best motor races anywhere in the world in 2024.
Brilliant!. Priceless old bits of kit out and about doing what they were built for! Instead of sitting in a museum gathering dust!. Priceless. Nuff said!. 🙂
Some of those cars look beautiful, and then the fastest one looks like it was put together in the garage by a mechanic who didn’t care about panels at all
Duncan Pittaway, Mark Walker, and Hughie Walker, I hope to see you guys sometime when I get my first project done that I explained in my comment before this one. This was a wonderful race!!!
This looks like so much fun. Would nice to do 10 laps. I would love to drive one of these machines on a track. So great these guys are keeping these cars going.
A Welsh man was decapitated by his chain driven land speed car in the early 20th century. The car was buried in the beach where the attempt was being made and dug up recently.
@@keithgoodrick-meech3921 it's a touch misleading but John Godfrey Parry-Thomas was partially decapitated by the vehicle rolling and not actually struck by the chain.
@Indicant apologies, I was relying on the memory of a young teenager in the early 70s after visiting Brooklands with my father who admired early race engineers. At the time, Babs had only been dug up a couple of years before and the chain theory was still rife. I'm grateful that you set the record straight. Thanks.
@@keithgoodrick-meech3921 Parry Thomas in 'Babs'. Buried in 1927 and dug up in 1969. The chain broke but it was the subsequent crash that caused his horrific injuries.
@peterrenn6341 yes, i agree, however, all i indicated was that it was a chain driven car, something that is inherently dangerous. As a young teenager visiting Brookland race track in the very early 70s, the broken chain theory was still the popular thinking. It wasn't until well after Babs was dug up and a really intensive forensic examination was performed, the theory was dispelled. Thanks for your comments anyway.
Super cool video!! I have been assembling a machine shop to support my TH-cam channel that I will be starting with the build of a 1928 Morgan RIP GN special 3 wheeler with 4 wheels. I am using an experimental aircraft opposed twin supercharged engine. This will be mated to an MG 4 speed manual gearbox with a 2 piece hand cast aluminum adapter. This will be connected to an MG differential with beautiful wire wheels. The frame I stood over steel and will have aircraft cloth stretched over and sprayed with plasticizer. This will have a boat tail look and is essentially a 20's airplane without a propeller or wings. There is only one other in existence and Charlie Martin races it in the UK. The next project lined up is the building of a Brooklands style cycle car similar to the Pembleton. This will have a BMW R-100 engine in the front and four wheels with gorgeous leather interior and even space for luggage. I look forward to seeing everyone over at the channel when it gets warm out enough to be in the barn in Pennsylvania .....
Plenty of reasons- a brake line could fail and they hit a wall/ other car, a spring or part could dislodge and get kicked up and hit another driver, if a car flips (high chance w open wheel, high center of gravity cars) your gonna want a helmet especially w o a roll bar

For safety! And to deaden the noise from the machines.
Can Mark Walker get that win in part 2?
Early automotive aerodynamics: intimidating the air out of the way.
Such a shame we can't have this every weekend. So much entertainment.
More entertainment in that one race than a whole season of F1!
Realmente mejor que la actual y aburrida F1

Head on over to Ivan Dutton's 'Shed Racing' YT channel. He's done a whole video about the Hall & Scott and the rest of the field from this race,
The most fun race to watch I've seen in a very long time.

Beast of Turin 😍❤️👌
Mark Walker in his Darraq is just mega-cool! That guy is a hero
I really like the look of that Fiat, the flames popping from the exhaustholes add only to it. Amazing thing!
no. the flames only have the function of allowing you to grill sausages during the race
@@ungezognee 😁 That's even better!
Artwork in motion.
Love the Edwardian Cars being given their head to race like this. Thank you for sharing.

That is pretty well EXACTLY what happened . 200 hp in 1905 ! ! Land Speed Record car .
Looks never win a race.😂
That Fiat is spitting out flames! The drivers of these machines have some real guts. I love the V-shaped radiator on car 200.
Duncan Pittaway, Mark Walker, and Hughie Walker, I hope to see you guys sometime when I get my first project done that I explained in my comment before this one. This was a wonderful race!!!
He's driving that Durraqc like there's a respawn point.
Absolutely beautiful. History on wheels
Great to hear the Beast of Turin singing: I’ve only heard it startup & easy motoring.
2:34 that S76 really is a beast❤ towering above all other cars😊
This looks like so much fun. Would nice to do 10 laps. I would love to drive one of these machines on a track. So great these guys are keeping these cars going.
Massive congratulations to Julian!!
All those chain drives are absolutely terrifying, id hate to be near one that lets go.

Refreshingly exciting! Thank you for sharing this.
Eu amo esses carros!
This is amazing 😻 I have always wanted to see this type of races, with old models. Those cars are old but they can kick butt!! Awesome!! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
I came ONLY to witness the BEAST !!!
Although ALL of them are amazing !
Brilliant. But forget the drone thanks.
Now this is racing❤
Just a matter of time and these masterpieces will dissapear. Already 120y old😢❤
Can we have F1 2024?
We have F1 2024 at home!
F1 2024 at home:
5:23 just look like racing the Titanics Engine 😂
I play the Eurobeat/trance piece "Yellow Line" from the cult anime movie "Redline" in my noggin' as I watch this!

The Darraqc is beautiful.
The competitive nature was the same, but the innocence was still there in this era.
I love whenever I see that S76 just an awesome car. I don't even like these older cars normally.
Isso sim é corrida de milionários!! Só relíquias
This looks like so much fun! What's the cutoff date for this class?
Tries to explain goodwood to my gf and glad this video popped up
How wonderful . Nothing Newer than 100 years old . The Darrucq WAS actually FAST .
Already lapping backmarkers on lap nr3🤯
Incredible!
Awesome!
Was that Ivan Duttons Peugeot?
Yes it was
Not mentioned in the race commentary
It’s knock out!
@@ruleninetyone it's a brilliant car
@pashakdescilly7517 true, but the car is my grandfather's and I was there watching it race.
Some say he once did a race at Goodwood with a 100 year old Mercedes...
The Beast of Turin just looks like a caged animal sitting at the starting line
Does it say about how fast these cars are
better than f1 today
Love it❤❤❤
bellissima corsa
❤🇬🇧😊 is it just me ? Or does chain drive scare the beejesus out of anybody else?😮
Catch the pigeon!
LOL!!!
Wonderful
now this is pod racing
Better than F1!
Any steamers??
Remove all the green grass from the lawns, replace with dirt and boom! Time travel pro max!
commentators are mates of Mark Walker? - is he the only one in the race? very very poor, your Grace.
I'm sorry, what? No power steering??
drone shots 144p

I'd be more interested in hearing the racing sounds of the old-timers than you two incessant yapping.
@frankschwartz7405 do you're so popular and cool! What crappy European country are you from?
