    Picked up my plans two weeks ago and finished getting it together and working today. Still some tweaking to do I'm sure, and have to take it apart and give it a coat of paint, but the plans made it go very smooth. I found a few problems and discrepancies in the plans, but nothing big and nothing that causes but a little bit of thinking and a minor bit more time to work out.
    Good job Brian.

But luckily you updated the plans and emailed them to me free of charge!!! And for that I thank you good sir. Now I just need to update my grinder!

I do find some of the R8 plans a little short in explaining smaller details of the layout, but where is the fun in building if you don't have to do a little thinking along the way? :-) Keep on it, this is excellent quality content.

    Is the work table cutout notch beveled at a 45, so the table can be pulled in tight to the platen for a near "zero clearance" fit?

    • @HouseMadeUS
      @HouseMadeUS  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That can be done quite easily, but we don’t do that before shipping. I gotta say I have thought about doing that many times. 💪🏻😁

    • @rentawash1
      @rentawash1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HouseMadeUS Just thinking it should be beveled before weldup, as I think it would affect the geometry if you ground it to a bevel after welding. Wouldn't be easy to bevel without a belt grinder

    What came first, the chicken or the egg. I built a cnc plasma table and was going to buy the plans and cad files to build this grinder but the 2x72 grinder I have access to doesn't have an adjustable table to easily clean up my parts and my mill is the same one House has in the video. How do I do a nice job building the grinder without said grinder? Heck, I could easily build this just from the videos and prints shown in the videos (this is how great his youtube videos are) but I want a 2x72 like yesterday. Yes, I broke down and just ordered the entire kit. Laser cut parts are great (I also have a weldtables laser cut table that I welded together) and once I have the machine built per the plans, I can build an arm with a rotary platen setup and do a large contact wheel and buffing wheel setup. The videos sold me on the kit. Sometimes just because you can build something all on your own, doesn't mean there aren't good reasons to use someone else's product which is already well designed, manufactured, and proven.

    Bought the gen 4 kit and I would suggest 1 change -- make the Risers part of the kit- even if you charge more. Many of us do not have access to a drill press big enough to do the 3/4 hole especially all the way straight through both sides of the 2" x 2" x 1/4 thick. I am trying to make due but I fear this will be by far the weakest link in my build. All the rest of the build seems to be ok so far.

    Ordered my 4.0 bundle a few days ago, waiting for shipment like a little girl having to pee. I am excited to start building. The one thing I am having a problem with, is sourcing the motor, I did get on the list for notification when it is in stock. Also having trouble letting go of $360 for the vfd . I don't want the cheaper version either, worried about the enclosure. Is there any vfd that is sealed around $200 that you might recommend? You do a great job testing for your recommendations and may not have tested another, but have you found anything out there that might be an acceptable sealed unit? I know time is money, and I am still researching but exhausted. Thank you so much for what you do for this community, I love your content, keep up the good work. From a Guy in Tucson

      Did you build this yet and what did you end up going with as far as VFD?

    • @reddogknives
      @reddogknives 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mystakilla I did build it, and I love it. I put a 2hp 220v motor on it, and I went with the Chinese hundred-dollar vfd off of amazon, and scavenged a money box and made an enclosure out of it. I put master power switch on it and the vfd comes with a remote it has a little box that you can snap the remote into and that is mounted onto the face of the box. In total I have about $800 in it. Because I could not get the motor he recommended, I just got one from Granger and it cost me a llittle over $200. Thank you for asking, I would recommend you jump all over that bundle from Brian, you will never be disappointed. It is a well designed Industrial quality grinder, that will last you a lifetime. With the money I have in it it is easily a $3,500 machine. Don't wait, Jump On It as soon as you can I use that grinder daily. Good luck and happy grinding.
