    I'm used to designing all my own stuff, but sometimes it's nice to give my brain a break and use plans where all the hard design work is already done. Jer's Gen 2 belt grinder show excellent engineering decisions, and the excellent instructions were very clear and well-written. I've since bought his plans for both these attachments here and just finished welding together the small wheel unit. Next on the build list is his tilting table.

    Can anyone explain to me (I hope I didn't miss it being explained by Jeremy in the video) what the deflector does (I assume it deflects, but what is that, and what's the purpose)?
    Edited to add: I've not yet seen such outpouring of delight over a TH-cam content creator as now, here, for you.

    • @Jer_Schmidt
      @Jer_Schmidt  3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      The deflector wheel allows you to grind into a deep notch, since it bends the belt >180° around the wheel. It’s usually not used, but can be useful for some jobs.

    SO GLAD to see you back! I truly love the way you work and the pure creativeness behind the designs is just amazing. Plus it's just good to see you again.
    This format that we use is a funny thing, we start to think of the people we watch as “friends” we get to know them, in a way, and yes, actually start to care about them because we can relate to them and the people we perceive them to be. While the actual person we watch and relate to may be somewhat different than the person on the screen, when you get to be my age 66, you can trust your instincts and know they are close if not spot on. What I describe here is how so very many of the people who subscribe to your channel feel, even if they are unaware of it. Welcome Back!

So many good ideas!

  • @gatekeeper84
    @gatekeeper84 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi Jeremy, you can weld the inside corners shows at 6:36. what you need to do is put a big block of steel in between the fork at the other end. Either make the block an exact fit or shim it up. Then put some thick strips against the outside with a couple of heavy clamps, or put fork and block in a vice. With all the welds on the other sides distortion will be negligible, but the strength of the part will greatly increase.
