  • Brushed vs Brushless in the LaTrax Rally!
    I have been wanting to do this test for awhile now, glad we could finally get the brushless system and get it done.
    We have had our LaTrax Rally for over a year now. It is a fun car...that is a handful to drive!
    The power from the stock brushed motor is more than enough for us in most situations. However, this brushed motor is starting to really generate some heat and I was worried it was about to be dead.
    In comes a GoolRC brushless setup!
    The whole brushless combo (25A ESC, 4800kv motor) cost $40, that is it, $40! Link: amzn.to/2Z6Ndk3
    In this video we show how to install this brushless setup, but also take it out for a speed run to see the speed difference versus the stock brushed setup.
    The results are surprising!

    Hello from Russia and thank you for video. I have Rally and Teton, trying to make them brushless. Main problem is motor mounting holes. GoolRC motor has M2.5 holes and they are 16mm away from each other. Stock brushed motor has M3 holes and they are on 17mm distance. Looks like I have to drill/oval holes in motor plate. You didn't said anything about it. Did your new motor fits 1:1? I've bought 2430 motor, but it's on the way to me from China.

    Doesn't the Rally come with hard, more drift oriented tires? That could well explain it being a handful trying to do a speed run in the wet. 😉. I have the Prerunner version and picked up an unpainted Rally body and I'm hoping the Prerunner wheels will go under the Rally body without having to butcher the wheel wells too badly because I really don't want to fool with those Goofy little wheels/tires the Rally is sold with. Speaking of wheels and tires though, anyone know of any alternatives to stock? I haven't removed a wheel yet, but the guy in the shop said they're an oddball size of her drive.

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The stock rally tires are slicks, but actually a rather soft compound. I believe most of this is attributed to the limited suspension design from the factory. Throwing on some better shocks would probably help a lot!
      So far, I have found zero alternatives to the stock wheels. Boo...

    im pretty sure that the motor isnt gonna effect it it would probably be gearing and voltage :)

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The motors certainly can have an impact on speed!
      A 3000kv motor vs a 4000kv motor would have a noticable difference in speed.

    I'm sorry I got to see your videos so late the reason your car is not faster the motor is reversed for some reason you have to switch the yellow and the orange or something if you put your car in Reverse you will notice it is much faster in reverse then forward you have to switch the polarity on the motor your RC car will be much faster than glad I could help

    • @RoadsideRC
      @RoadsideRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I know why you’re motor kept getting hot. It’s because you probably changed your pending gear and spar gear but if not, you’re just flooring it all the time.
