- Time for some more upgrades to our LaTrax Rally!
Didn't take long after going brushless...literally the first battery pack....before it stripped a diff input gear!
Our LaTrax rally came with all plastic gears throughout + all bushings instead of bearings. So, we have been on the road to fix all of that!
We previously already installed the metal differential upgrade kit - as it was the first thing to break.

We have also gone through most of the bearing upgrade to get rid of those bushings.

I really hate HATE diff problems- but you seem to be a wizard at them, and the LaTraxx is not easy for me to work on. Too small. You are a pro.
Agree! I really hate working on this car also. Everything is SOO small!
Just finished up my slash 1/16 with a beetle body, a dumborc x6 transmitters reciever. A 35amp esc with deans connection and 3650 5900kv motor, Two 2s 1500mah batteries and 2 9gram metal gear servos

Thanks! Just bought the gears and installed it for the rear. Going to do the front soon! I have extra metal ring gears after these purchases, cant go wrong with extras

If I am honest...these are not great vehicles. The Mini-Zs you have been running must be better than these.

I'm confused, why does the differential gears on Amazon come with different pieces? Both the sets come with duplicates but not the inside gears?
Do I have to buy two of each?
Not sure why Traxxas sells them that way, but yes, I had to buy multiple to get it to work.

We have had good luck so far. What surface do you normally run on?
Roadside RC grass, I figured out using the original metal ring gears with the metal new gears works good! Not sure why, seems the ring gear is harder
Any updates on this setup, with the upgrades? Any other electrical components been switched out due to overheating and more powerful motor, ESC, servo's, etc.? Any other suggestions? Which battery are you using? Thanks for any and all input. Stay safe!

Honestly - it was not long after this swap that we eneded up selling it. Never got back into the LaTrax again.

@@flhandster4395 For drifting, I went with a proper RWD 1:10 chassis. For AWD fun, I have used the Redcat Lightning - it is a lot of fun, handles great, and is priced around the same as the LaTrax.
I been tryin to find out all morning do I have to do all tht, jus to remove the tires?
The tires come off with one single nut.
Nice videos 👌 getting my boy the latrax vr46 so he can come out and play when i take my 3s rally fiesta st vr46 out. Im planning on upgrading his straight out the box so he can sort of keep up lol 😊
I hope he has fun! The VR46 is such a cool body!
This car is HANDFUL to drive - just FYI. Much harder to drive straight than your rally. The tires are also 100% slick, so watch the surfaces you drive on.

do u have any tip how to make custom body for this car ? i cant find any for example subaru impreza bodies for this scale
There is not much. This scale is not very popular (compared to 1/10), so it does not get a lot of attention.
@@RoadsideRC yes, but you know, this car is very good for its price and its size fits me more than 1/10 :( very sad that there are no imprezas :(

Where is your son he should be the one doing that I am only 13 and I have fully rebuilt my latrax sst on my own and what happened to getting a metal spur gear? Great job tho
My son that drives this is 6...not quite ready for the full rebuild yet.

when i got the same brushless motor and esc i also got a bigger gear for the motor and the center driveshaft but stripped my metal differentials is there any better differentials that are maybe stronger?
I have these metal diff gears both front and rear, and they have been good so far. Do you have these same part numbers?
I believe Traxxas had different gear options.
Have you shimmed these diffs at all?
Nope! Nothing but installed them and ran it.

How has it held up since/. Do you need to upgrade the axles?
They held up well, but I also kept traction as the weak link.

Never upgraded from the stock tires. It just spins the tires all of the time.
What spur/pinion are you running?
Still on the stock setup.
Seems to be the lowest gear ratio available and suits top speed. Trying out the higher ratios for acceleration, but suddenly some strange sounds with the 61/9 setup 😅
You see the carbon fiber kit that traxxas came out with? They have a good article about it @traxxas.com

I have less money in my Redcat Thunder Drift....and it is a better car!

I would NOT get that upgrade although I got a pretty cool thing for my trx4..
