Thanks! Just bought the gears and installed it for the rear. Going to do the front soon! I have extra metal ring gears after these purchases, cant go wrong with extras
Good vid as always man! I may be in the market for a LaTrax Rally before long. We are going to try to race them at Cookeville Hobbies. Bring yours out if we do!
Just finished up my slash 1/16 with a beetle body, a dumborc x6 transmitters reciever. A 35amp esc with deans connection and 3650 5900kv motor, Two 2s 1500mah batteries and 2 9gram metal gear servos
Agree 100%! The small phillips screws, plus the design. Argh! Really glad when it just runs. Kind of wish my son had wanted the Teton instead. From what I have seen, it is much better.
Any updates on this setup, with the upgrades? Any other electrical components been switched out due to overheating and more powerful motor, ESC, servo's, etc.? Any other suggestions? Which battery are you using? Thanks for any and all input. Stay safe!
@@flhandster4395 For drifting, I went with a proper RWD 1:10 chassis. For AWD fun, I have used the Redcat Lightning - it is a lot of fun, handles great, and is priced around the same as the LaTrax.
Nice videos 👌 getting my boy the latrax vr46 so he can come out and play when i take my 3s rally fiesta st vr46 out. Im planning on upgrading his straight out the box so he can sort of keep up lol 😊
I hope he has fun! The VR46 is such a cool body! This car is HANDFUL to drive - just FYI. Much harder to drive straight than your rally. The tires are also 100% slick, so watch the surfaces you drive on.
when i got the same brushless motor and esc i also got a bigger gear for the motor and the center driveshaft but stripped my metal differentials is there any better differentials that are maybe stronger?
I have these metal diff gears both front and rear, and they have been good so far. Do you have these same part numbers? I believe Traxxas had different gear options.
Where is your son he should be the one doing that I am only 13 and I have fully rebuilt my latrax sst on my own and what happened to getting a metal spur gear? Great job tho
Seems to be the lowest gear ratio available and suits top speed. Trying out the higher ratios for acceleration, but suddenly some strange sounds with the 61/9 setup 😅
I did! Not going to spend that kind of money on this car. I mean honestly...I already have WAY too much $$ in it for what it is. I have less money in my Redcat Thunder Drift....and it is a better car!
Lol yeah I totally know what you mean, I’ve spent more than double the $$ on parts for my 6s e-maxx than what I bought it for😅🤦♂️ I would NOT get that upgrade although I got a pretty cool thing for my trx4.. Stay tuned!
Thanks! Just bought the gears and installed it for the rear. Going to do the front soon! I have extra metal ring gears after these purchases, cant go wrong with extras
Glad I could help! Good luck with the car!
that last beat goes hard. Sounds like the beats I used to make on fl studio lmao
I’ll definitely be picking up these parts, my Teton has been in a box for years because I couldn’t find metal parts.
These are the ones!
Fun vehicles, but do require some upgrades!
Just got my latraxx yesterday can’t wait to see more upgrades on this great vid👍
Thanks!
We put a brushless setup in it also. Make sure to check out that video.
Roadside RC already did very good vid as well hope to see more upgrade vids 👍
Great wrenching guys!
Thank you!
Good vid as always man! I may be in the market for a LaTrax Rally before long. We are going to try to race them at Cookeville Hobbies. Bring yours out if we do!
If I am honest...these are not great vehicles. The Mini-Zs you have been running must be better than these.
great video and upgraded gears, and nice new rims and tires
Thank you!
Link for rims and tires plzzzz😢
I really hate HATE diff problems- but you seem to be a wizard at them, and the LaTraxx is not easy for me to work on. Too small. You are a pro.
Agree! I really hate working on this car also. Everything is SOO small!

Sounds like a blast!
@@RoadsideRC for sure put a wheelie bar on today
Looks like a happy boy he's got his car back
Yes sir! And, he had to help get it back together!
Congratulations over 2k subscribers well done
Thanks! It is a slow road for sure.
Awesome man are you going to be at music city this weekend on Saturday or Sunday if so let me know I have a rally so we can race
Not sure I will make it this weekend.
Also - I sold this car awhile back.
The metal traxxas gears strip fast, I’m still trying to figure out a solution
Dang!
We have had good luck so far. What surface do you normally run on?
Roadside RC grass, I figured out using the original metal ring gears with the metal new gears works good! Not sure why, seems the ring gear is harder
That should do the trick! I have a Teton, pain in the butt to work on these cars 🤣
Agree 100%!

Nice upgrade vid Bro
Thank you!
looks a bit like intensive car for RC cars there mate quite a job
*gave you a like👍Au👍fully viewed with pleasure*
Yes! More work than it should have been for sure!
I'm confused, why does the differential gears on Amazon come with different pieces? Both the sets come with duplicates but not the inside gears?
Do I have to buy two of each?
Not sure why Traxxas sells them that way, but yes, I had to buy multiple to get it to work.
@@RoadsideRC I wish I would have realized that before I ordered the parts and they got here. Now I have to wait another two weeks.
great vid thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Hi there!
Honestly - it was not long after this swap that we eneded up selling it. Never got back into the LaTrax again.
@@RoadsideRC Oh Wow. Which RC did you transition to? Thanks for the reply.

I been tryin to find out all morning do I have to do all tht, jus to remove the tires?
The tires come off with one single nut.

@@RoadsideRC cheers for the heads up. Some sticky tires and maybe a tsm upgrade straight out the box then
@@davehine1721 Yeah - either that or really consider something like a cheaper 1/10 instead. Assuming you had not already purchased the LaTrax.
do u have any tip how to make custom body for this car ? i cant find any for example subaru impreza bodies for this scale
There is not much. This scale is not very popular (compared to 1/10), so it does not get a lot of attention.
@@RoadsideRC yes, but you know, this car is very good for its price and its size fits me more than 1/10 :( very sad that there are no imprezas :(
Have you shimmed these diffs at all?
Nope! Nothing but installed them and ran it.
@@RoadsideRC consider yourself lucky!

How has it held up since/. Do you need to upgrade the axles?
They held up well, but I also kept traction as the weak link.
@@RoadsideRC how did you achieve that?
Never upgraded from the stock tires. It just spins the tires all of the time.
Link for those tires plzzzzzz
Sorry for the delay, was away for the holidays.
Here is a link to the wheels and tires: bit.ly/3TxTanU
What are those tires?
They are stock replacements. I have a link in the description.
@RoadsideRC no link 😢

My son that drives this is 6...not quite ready for the full rebuild yet.
This part was filmed awhile back. Real time vs TH-cam time. :)
Oh ok well that makes sense
What spur/pinion are you running?
Still on the stock setup.
Seems to be the lowest gear ratio available and suits top speed. Trying out the higher ratios for acceleration, but suddenly some strange sounds with the 61/9 setup 😅
Looks better with blue wheels.
I like them also!
Vary cool
Thanks!
You see the carbon fiber kit that traxxas came out with? They have a good article about it @traxxas.com
I did!
