Well it's part of his kit, bare minimum combat to use GN Sword + Shield, any other armaments are mainly if really out of options and require change in combat style or to test new equipment like when he got the GN Swords and sadly there is no place to holster his shield The gundam armor is strong but not invincible, even in season 2 at the end Katharon's suits still using linear rifles from season 1 and still deal extensive and even killing dmg to A-LAWS suits, hence why shield is needed after Episode 1 since they gonna receive heavy fire, better to be safe than sorry especially a Melee suit when travelling Even more so when all the meisters are extremely inexperienced in terms of combat, not the worst but not the best either, all reliant on their gundam's performance

it's why the GN Type Gundams rank as the strongest, there is no place they would be at a disadvantage. Sure you can exploit a weakness, like Dynames and Cheridum are snippers so close combat is something their not made to be great at, they can do it, but not a good idea, Virtue, Seravee are heavyweight power types, so speed and greater power can outdo it, or close combat. Exia is ranged combat as it's just got a pistol in it's sword, 00 was the same till it docks with 0 Raiser then it's range improves. Kyrios and Arios are high speed but low armour so getting some good hits in will take them out. But they all have the Trans Am which they can use to cover the weakness by doubling their performance.

Besides wing, seed and i.b.o, my favorite gundam series To this day it doesn't dissapoint whatsoever. ❤ i generally only builg mg kit's and upon looking into my massive amount of kit's in storage there's more 00, wing and seed than anything else. And i have a shit ton of kits. 😊 i literally have every mg and variation of every suit from all these series and then some and at the end of the day i fkn love my 00 kit's the most. Infact I'm ordering the new mg p bandai gundam astrea tomorrow because i found a sweet deal on it. I have the original ng version of it but, fkn mg? Hell yeah!!! Hopefully they give us a 2.0 exia next. Everyone wants it. It's the best gundam m.s. ever. Bar none. 😊

20:59 Setsuna really needs to stop dropping that shield of Exia for any enemy (Union, Human Reform League and AEU) to find and pick it up.
Looking back. He picks it up some times after the battle.
You see exia still equipped with the shield after the battle a lot of times.

Gundams can fight in space, in the air, on land and even in the ocean. The GN drives are something else
