Was busy but stopped to watch the good doctor's vital message. Can also feedback MM was super polite in the interview plus voice was sooo soothing as an ASMR trigger, bonus! She's a treasure for sure.
Thank you Margaret- my question is... do you know the daily dosage and type of Magnesium and Calcium for optimal absorption? I am 75yr old female with left hip replacement after a hip fracture.
Thank you for sharing this interview. I did take notes :) Could you clarify, did he say he takes 7000 units daily? I have osteopenia and i take around 3000 daily.
I'm a very small woman with osteoporosis, approx 45kg, are my vitamin D supplement requirements lower than the 1,500 - 2000iu Dr Hollick recommends? I'm concerned about the dangers of overdosing. What would be recommended?
The more important value is blood serum level. Dr. Holick recommends 40 to 60 ng/ml; you need to be tested. [I use a private lab ($40) rather than the clinic ($135).] If you're in that range, great. If you're low, increase your intake. If you're high, decrease your intake. [I get tested 3x / year.] Dr. Holick: "Overdose is defined to be a blood serum level >150 ng/ml." No worries.

Optimize Vitamin D for health and osteoporosis. My interview with leading researcher Dr. Michael Holick.

What about vitamin K? Is that essential?
Yes. A rule of thumb: for each 5000 IU of Vitamin D3, take 100 mcg K2-MK-7.
