Your hilarious Samantha, your correct it all looks like an ode to Kate. Not one garment I would choose out of that lot. Surprised they didn’t include a no shoulder blazer, and speaking of the no shoulder blazer why, just why, cannot see the point. Loved your blog Deb 🧵🪡💕

V1983 Melania! But my grandmother would have really loved wearing it at buffets once her purse was filled. V1984, yeah, sort of cardboard cut out, but what it really looks like is one of the bottom 3 looks on Rupaul's drag race sewing challenge. Doesn't even fit!
Agree I would never be making these patterns, however I have bought a couple of patterns before which were so amazing even though I will likely never make them.
I love the red coat too. The cape dress is so impractical for anyone other than Kate Middleton. I rarely have anywhere to wear Vogue patterns but they've always been a fantasy brand so I'm not expecting practical from them (unless I'm needing a dress in which to steal vol au vents 🤣😅
Nope, I think you are spot on with your thoughts, Sam; if anything you are more generous than I would be. As for "Return to elegance", my response would be, "OK, when are you going to return to elegance?" The pink coat and the white cape dress are gorgeous but the rest of the collection is a joke. Was it V1984 with the deconstructed tuxedo? I could imagine Joan Collins strutting around in it in an episode of Dallas. My message to Vogue Patterns? "Vogue. Stop relying on the reputation of Vogue Magazine, stop relying on your (historical) reputations of producing gorgeous patterns and start to produce them now." As you can see, Sam, my reaction is a lot harsher than yours. Thank you for your wonderful video. Kim
I never got why vogue will put zippers although a shirt in some of the odds places but none of the coats ever seem to zip. I live in a windy place and the low collars and button placement on most of the coats just doesn’t cut it.
I'm not certain why Vogue is "tone deaf" for putting out a luxury collection. Designers start working on collections months ahead of release, so these patterns were already on the drawing board many months ago. What should they put out instead? I'm not certain there's a relevant point to be made here about pattern designs and what's going on in the world.
Luxury is definitely a trend this winter and I'm relieved we"re getting away from dressing women like little girls. All those ugly unflattering tiers of ruffles and puffy sleeves, ugh. I'm glad to see some grown women clothes for a change.
Certainly not everyone is going to love every pattern. V1984 is not my style but it's a style I'm seeing a lot in rtw. I like V1985 and V1982 is quite lovely. I would make it in a white or navy wool coating. That Kate Middleton wore it doesn't bother me. Designers take their inspiration from lots of places and this is certainly better than taking inspiration from children's wear.
