It was my first time using an overlocker. With your tutorial I was up and running with no problems making pyjama bottoms! Thank you for the clear instructions and excellent camera work.

I just picked up N6777 last week at Joann's, with a nice black crepe fabric & invisible zipper. It is a dupe for V9705. I will see how accessible the zipper is! I do teach yoga and have quite flexible shoulders/arms, so I can reach up to the base of my neck with my hands. However most people can't do that...

OMG, Sam, I can't believe how terrible a time you are having. That incident with the lorry sounds particularly awful and scary beyond belief. I was saying at dinner tonight that, except for updating my FaceBook group, i have not been online for over 3 weeks, maybe longer. Seeing you smiling face when I opend up TH-cam was a real lift but, boy-oh-boy have you had a load on your plate. I am glad Wobbles has pulled through, it must have been so heart wrenching for you all with her away from home. I do feel for you and send you hugs. Best of luck for the future.

Hugs. So sorry about Wobbles, and your Mom. You've had an awful summer. It's amazing how our puppers effect every inch of our lives. We lost Sage, our Irish Water Spaniel, in July. He was 14 which is methusala for a water spaniel, but it was still unexpected. I'm not doing great but not terrible either. I hadn't even realized how much he grounded me. The good news is we have found a 1 year old Water Spaniel that we will be getting in September. He is in Ontario Canada and I'm in minnesota, so we are still trying to figure out transportation. Hope things get better for you!

It's mind-blowing to me to think about how fast sewing machines are. I've never owned one and stitch all of my projects by hand. I'm hoping to get something soon, it's just incredible how fast they can go.

Should the lower looper thread be resting over the upper looper arm? When you thread the lower looper you don't do this but at the end of that section it's above the arm, as it is when the upper looper threading begins. It's confusing.

This is the best tutorial for my Brother overlocker. You show every step so clearly. I had been doing it wrong after following another one.

I love the Reynolds pattern but as a dress very bra friendly, my favourite bra friendly cami top is sew house seven sauvie sundress shortened to a top

I just used your tutorial to thread my machine and it works perfectly. The only issues I keep having is that my machine isn’t cutting away the excess fabric so sometimes it gets stuck with the machine🥲 Do you know how I can fix this?

I like the Bellbird shorts from Common Stitch Patterns. They have pockets and are like elevated boxer shorts made from woven fabric, although at the moment I am trying to make them from stretch fabric.

Yes I too did the cargo pants in the 90s/00s, and I'm not afraid to say I won't be going back there! 😆

Thanks for the recommendations. I love a free pattern 😊 I have tried 3 patterns from the Tiana’s Closet website. I made size 3XL each time and all of them turned out really well and the fit has been good. The instructions are very basic but if you have some experience then it isn’t too much of a problem.

Oh boy, what a lot of ground those garments cross: from slinky, bias cut, cowl neck, figure hugging mini dresses; to long, elegant, embellished capes and then onto cargo pants! Phew. I must admit I do love me a cowl neck dress or top and I am rather in love with the concept of any cape. I had a cape as a little girl and I don't think have ever got over the love of capes. I loath cargo pants - not sure why but I really do not like them. Like you I have a dedicated sewing space and unfortunately no matter how much I try, I am just not able to keep it tidy. I would like to blame my kids or hubby but unfortunately, there is no one to blame but myself. I was surprised to hear you say how tired you are as I had been sitting there thinking how much better you are looking these days. I thought that perhaps with Spuds cancer being gone perhaps you might be getting a bit more rest. Sorry you are still feeling tired :(

I sympathise with you about the heat. I don't do well in it either! It gets pretty hot where I live in France so I just close the shutters and sit indoors but it isn't much fun. One of my favourite summer patterns is the Grainline Scout Tee. I know it is very simple but made in a lovely fabric it can look really nice. I also wear a lot of Indian block print fabric as it is so light and floaty.

What I would like to see from ALL pattern companies is a straight on front photo and straight on back photo. No hands in pockets (we can all see you have pockets, well done), no cocked hip. Just the model standing up straight and the photo taken head on (or back on). After that, go to town and do what you like but it is those two boring head on / back on photos that tell us so much about fitting. Cocking a hip totally throws out grain lines, hands in pockets pulls the fabric away from the tummy and potentially the front crotch line, making it harder to see what the true fit is. OK, rant over for now.

There seems to have been a trend over the last year or two of using invisible zippers in trousers, often at the side seams, if not then at central back. My issue with that is that invisible zippers do not have the same strength as a regular zip. It is not that the zip is the simply reversed and a special slider is used, the teeth of the invisible zips are different and they do not the same strength as a regular zip. When a pattern shows an invisible zip in trousers I simply put a lapped zip instead. If someone is checking out my clothing close enough to comment on the type of zip I have installed they are standing way way to close.

Ooohh, Silmu shirt dress is nice. How did I miss that in the new release emails. Hmmmm, I have obviously not been paying attention. I will definately put that on my list. Lol, just heard your comments on the dress. You hate it and I love it. It makes you think of a 1940's dress and that is the era of clothing I love. You want patterned fabrics to remove attention from the waist darts but guess what ...... I would go out of my way to draw attention to those wonderful constructs. Nope, sorry Sam, we will agree to disagree on this pattern. I find the shirt very sew-sew but that dress is gorgesous Hey, think of it this way ... If we ever met up, at least you would not have to worry we might both turn up wearing this dress.😁

SH7 Oxbow pants - rust orange jeans for autumn. Yes please. I just bought a blue top recently that has this sort of rust burnt orange contrast in what my daughter described as a lava design. Either way the top is fantastic and if I could find a denim or twill that was in a similar colourway I would make these without a second thought.

Hi Samantha. Great vlog, enhanced by a pug sneeze! I'm in Sydney winter so pants are very relevant to me. Some back story about Jo the designer behind FMN patterns. On her latest dress release she talks about the fact that she has long COVID and has not been able to sew and design very much for a long time. She acknowledges that this has impacted on the availability of photos showing the dress on different body shapes etc. I wonder whether this also affected the re-release of the skirt you reviewed. I really like the look of the Merchant & Mills pants and loved your friend's description of their aesthetic! I would like to learn to line pants because I have some nice wools which are a bit itchy.

High water pants means they are above the ankles. As if you were walking in water.
