Wow, so sorry you were sick. I know what that's like, missing out on the holidays especially and I'm so glad you're better. Seeking perfection is definitely a huge problem that stops my sewing progress and it's something I too, need to work on. My plan is to complete all my UFOs whether I've outgrown them or not, make at least three great-fitting bras bras and get my ridiculously large stash down so I can have an excuse to buy more fabric.

I have the Aries and the Lanai patterns from Bra Builders and Cashmerette's Willowdale bra but haven't tried them yet. The International Bra Sewing Bee is coming this summer, so if you want to try your hand at making a bra, it's a great place to start. There is nothing like a fit of a made for you bra and it's really not hard to do. Happy sewing.

Funny you should mention pattern drafting software, I have pinned a tab on my browser for Pattermaster Pro. I am planning to see how making a block with that programme goes. New year's resolutions - about 20 years ago I made a NYR to never make a NYR again and have stuck to it rigidly since then 🤣😆🤣😆 At the moment I am working on two things. I am making the Thread Theory Fulford Jeans for my daughter's partner and making the Taika Blouse Dress from Named Patterns for myself. I am particularly impressed with the fit of the jeans "out of the packet" with just minimal adjustments. Re you mentioning gathering stitches - have you tried using your overlocker to gather fabric? I have found it a really easy and forgiving way of gathering. For me doing the two lines of stitching and pulling the bobbin thread regularly ends up with thread breaking or something. Anyway, sorry for an essay rather than a comment. I am so pleased to see you back and hope your health returns to full strength soon.

I was worried about you, especially when I couldn't find your last day of the Advent calendar. Hope you are healing up well. I had some polyps removed after Xmas too, but mine weren't a big deal like it sounds yours were. I've sewn the roscoe blouse too. Yours is gorgeous, and I like your resolutions, especially the one about wearing your personal style. My sewing has been in a slump that's starting to feel like forever. I wonder if it's over buttonholes on my new machine. I used to have a 1970s machine that made the best buttonholes. Alas, now I'm dealing w that funny foot that you stick a button in that randomly makes perfect button holes mixed in w oddly shaped abominations. Well, my potato is trying to get me to let him out, so must go. Glad to know you are alright.

I have a beautiful striped corduroy shirt almost done, muna and broad waikerie, and I paused for Xmas and just haven't gotten back in. I'm planning brown cords peppermint wide leg trousers to go w it, w a cat embroidered on one leg. As for buttons, I should try to get the machine I learned on serviced, then use it just for button holes. Button holes! Me hates them, me hates them. I'm making progress though because I just picked up my jean jacket w the half-embroidered tiger on the back. I'm wearing it with the needle stuck through the denim. Kids I work w think that's cool. Its always a bit unnerving isn't it and can cause a lot of stress, so happy yours are nothing to be concerned with. I actually woke up in the middle of the procedure, sat up on my side, looked at the TV screen and asked if Miss Frizzle and the magic school bus were in there before the anaesthetist ran back and dosed me again. It was very embarrassing afterwards. But luckily the magic school bus doesn't seem to have been a show that made it on Swiss kids TV ha ha. The peppermint trousers with a cat embroidery on one side?? I am going to need to see this, it sounds absolutely wonderful! I LOVE embroidery on clothes so much. Re Buttonholes - its tricksy! Half embroidered tiger with a bonus needle sounds very cool indeed. Can I ask how you got into embroidery? I would love to have a go! Wishing you all the best, Sam xoxo
@SewinginSwitzerland lol, ms drizzle was definitely driving the bus in your body! I'm not really sure how I got into embroidery. I'm not terribly good at it, just persistent. I did a couple samplers and cross stitch things as a kid, but I don't hang that kind of stuff on my walls and I'm one of those people who have to have a use for a major project. I embroider/applique a few ridiculous masks during quarantine while I was riding on the food delivery bus. Then I saw a few visible mending books, and started fixing some things w a sort of sashiko, which uses a running stitch. That's a great way to get your feet wet. Let me know if you try it.
