Right now, it still stops after the Easy Build section and doesn't explain anything about warp, the map, insurance, companies, the market, and a whole bunch of key stuff. Yet, it has you salvage THREE ships, an activity you never do again. Also, would be nice if the repair tool used credits and not resources. Right now, it's pretty useless unless you carry a bunch of minerals with you (or spawn them via the dev menu).

What is the point of these territories? Will it be like one big station area that keeps all other players out of it? That's already annoying bumping into invisible borders
yes it will only allow those that have permission to enter, like how you cant enter the safe zone of some random guys station,. but on a much wider scale!
One of my biggest personal disappointments when Starbase released, was that they didn't actively focus on that whole "Kingdom vs Empire" thing they had going in all the pre-release dev videos. I was so fed up of every other crafting/survival game devolving into a shoot-on-sight soup of tiny mafia clans led by narcissists, that I thought Frozenbyte had finally figured it out. That by having all players fighting for either Kingdom or Empire, it would remove the infinite no-mans land filled with petty raiders and opportunists, and instead provide an actual tangible front line, with a considerable pseudo-safe zone behind it. You could still have individual player created companies, but everyone would be fighting together under one of two banners. That when you see a ship in the distance, it's not instant terror and paranoia every single time, but instead, "Is it's signal purple or orange?". It would have provided new or non-combat inclined players a safe region to operate in, whilst giving much needed structure and persistent stakes to the PvP orientated players, and actually unite both of them in supporting each other within their own mutual space. I remember being really surprised that so few other players seemed to be bringing this up back during the early discussions.
this would have been great, especially from a narrative and lore stand point too, i even probed the devs on this, they were not interested at all and i got the parroted line of players make the lore, which as we have seen, leads to making all these narcissists even worse lol The devs were pretty hard line on this, same as no PVE, so maybe they will soften on this front who knows!
I remember joining a clan b4 the game was going to release and even tried to sign up for ea. But the game kinda just died before it came out so here is hoping to even more success. ALSO DONT GIVE UP
I tried several times to get past the tutorial ... but I have never played a game, that makes it sooo absurdly difficult for a new player to get into the game and have fun.
I'll be honest, I haven't played in over two years now. I gave up on this game as it just became an endless repetition of flying for hours to find what roids you could, to fly back and spend hours in the ship designer. Only to either lose your ship to PVP action, or the game just eats the ship. Their hyperfocus on the pvp sector and ignoring the builders / designers / miners just makes it lopsided. I honestly had more fun taking a salvage ship out, grabbing parts of ships to haul back for scrap or sell... but even that system was bugged and I would end up having my ship get claimed as part of theirs.
its gonna take alot of work for them to get back to where it needs to be, and so far they are doing a little bit more pvp focus than i would like but progress is progress, and there are still many other games to play along side testing new features :)
It was really sad to see how they ran this game into the ground. Though skeptical, I must admit that they seem to have pulled themselves together. I might give it a second chance and who knows, maybe it's going to be a pleasant surprise...
sorry to day this will hgappen for the live server at least, like i said the PTU will need to have everything before live will be patched, but there is more than 6 boxes to fill na d 6 months left in the year, the roadmap is labled as this yeah, so we shoudl see at least a new patch to the STU each month providing they dont bundle features. Soooooo lets wait and see what happens but im cautiously optimistic!
I had accepted that this game was dead and would eventually just disappear into oblivion. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic, but it's really hard!
On one hand i'm happy they are finally "Working on the game" but on the other i still consider it a joke and abandonware. Barly any updates during the last two years, just some small bugfixes, game was/is still available to purchase on steam and by coimbining those two factors plus them adding an item shop and just promissing that everything will be in game "soon", makes me wonder if they are only working on the game to make some sales, either new copies sold or milk the biggest fans. I just don't believe they are on it with full strength and will to make those promises reallity. I really wish they would succeed, becasue i really liked the game when it came out, spent hours learning how to build ships but i just can't believe or trust them anymore.
i am... Cautiously optimistic . i was seriously disappointed after building ships multiple time and having the game just eat them. i am also concerned about the warp mechanics described so far. just a giant announcement for everyone looking and you have to just stand there and wait? this guarantees ganking against basic miners.
Im sorry but this was never coming and never the plan, if you were ever expecting this then you were clearly misinformed or never read the steam page. That would be like complaining eve online doesnt have a singleplayer version
@@KenetorTV their development videos teased being able to build ships and play around with programming and exploding said ships. then the game launched and the reality hit that building even the smallest ship required lots of resources, and with no save-load system or sandbox, playing around is not feasable. And the early bugs where simply editing your ship permanently broke it most of the time, and other glitches made the game unplayable, broke me after 80 hours of really trying. I just want to build ships and play around!
I don't know how I feel about this. This was one of my most anticipated games ever. They made the terrible decision to launch into EA far too early. It needed another 2 years in the oven minimum. Public perception and steam reviews are rightfully extremely negative. I don't see how they can pull off a No Man's Sky comeback. I'll be keeping an eye on the project but I remain skeptical. Once bitten twice shy.
@@KenetorTV I'll give them props for not giving up but man I wish they could have found any way to raise funds and hold out. You often don't get a second chance in this industry. Wishing them all the best though.
I want this game to succeed but I don't see that happening as long as it stays an MMO. Many of its issues are the result of being an MMO. It would be a much better game if it was a sandbox game like space engineers.
I had wondered about this before, but it certainly doesn't have the features yet to survive as a singleplayer/small multiplayer sandbox. but same is true of the MMO side of it too, but either way the game woudl have to be rebuilt for a sanbox mode as compared to what it is now. which would be a complete rebuild at least sadly
I really wanted it to work, but it just didn't. I spent over 4 weeks grinding out my tech tree, I could make anything (except the paint colours and most of the personel weaponry) and had a bunch of points saved up to research future releases. I then spent 3 days in the ship editor trying to make a single nacelle and rage quit the game. Parts the same shape that were obviously designed to fit together did not have snapping points in the correct locations. My first love in any game like this is designing ships and that is literally the worst designer I have ever seen in any video game ever. This game can never come back. It has been dead for years. I really wanted it to work. But it just didn't and never will.
@@KenetorTV What is the point, barely 100 players have been into the game for years now. And the ship editor is the same. Nothing snaps properly, the meshing of plates and components with beams in between is a nightmare. Honestly I don't even know the reason the vast majority of people hate this game, but for me as a builder, particularly of replicas, it's the crappy ship editor.| Don't know how you can still be so into this game...
I left this game over a year ago now due to the state of PVP. I'm not seeing anything different here for those wanting a more casual relaxing experience. So still not interested.

yes it will only allow those that have permission to enter, like how you cant enter the safe zone of some random guys station,. but on a much wider scale!
@@KenetorTV oof I didn't think I like that. But at least it they're all on the map it can be planned for on ones trips
Interesting
indeed
I remember being really surprised that so few other players seemed to be bringing this up back during the early discussions.
this would have been great, especially from a narrative and lore stand point too, i even probed the devs on this, they were not interested at all and i got the parroted line of players make the lore, which as we have seen, leads to making all these narcissists even worse lol
The devs were pretty hard line on this, same as no PVE, so maybe they will soften on this front who knows!
I remember joining a clan b4 the game was going to release and even tried to sign up for ea. But the game kinda just died before it came out so here is hoping to even more success. ALSO DONT GIVE UP
I tried several times to get past the tutorial ... but I have never played a game, that makes it sooo absurdly difficult for a new player to get into the game and have fun.
sadly the tutorial is one of the worst parts of the game :(
i quit a while ago, i was there for the first 6 weeks
well its not a sub monthly game, come back any time :) you should find the new test universe in your library if you search for starbase
when pve content is on life server i'll come and probably bring some newbie friends with me :)
Please axe EBM... Please axe EBM... Please axe EBM...
⬆ To stay consistent
😅
Confirmed by Lauri a while back 👍
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WE GOT STARBASE REVIVAL AND RETURN OF KENETOR BEFORE GTA 6
YES!!!! GTA CAN KISS MY....
No friggin way
Yes friggin way!
I honestly had more fun taking a salvage ship out, grabbing parts of ships to haul back for scrap or sell... but even that system was bugged and I would end up having my ship get claimed as part of theirs.
its gonna take alot of work for them to get back to where it needs to be, and so far they are doing a little bit more pvp focus than i would like but progress is progress, and there are still many other games to play along side testing new features :)
wooooooooooooo
It was really sad to see how they ran this game into the ground.
Though skeptical, I must admit that they seem to have pulled themselves together.
I might give it a second chance and who knows, maybe it's going to be a pleasant surprise...
as far as i know it was purely a funding issue, while smaller and slower as a team now, we have progress, hopefully theyh can keep this up!
Ngl I got back on and forgot how to play.
you my friend, are not alone!
didnt u try to take over the kingdom
good/bad memory, it was a joke to wake up Joel that some people when skitzo over :)
@KenetorTV so it did happen I Hurd about it from my fellow empire members but had to make shore
yeaah
hope they dont commit the last error which was letting the game in live with 0 updates for months.
sorry to day this will hgappen for the live server at least, like i said the PTU will need to have everything before live will be patched, but there is more than 6 boxes to fill na d 6 months left in the year, the roadmap is labled as this yeah, so we shoudl see at least a new patch to the STU each month providing they dont bundle features.
Soooooo lets wait and see what happens but im cautiously optimistic!
WB 😬
its just like old times!
There really is nothing else like Starbase. I have spent 2 years looking for another way to scratch the itch and it doesn't exist.
100% same, and to be fair nothing like it before hand either! its all block builders!
I had accepted that this game was dead and would eventually just disappear into oblivion. I'm trying to be cautiously optimistic, but it's really hard!
well it costs you nothing to come back and check it out, it was a one time purchase after all! :)
I really wish they would succeed, becasue i really liked the game when it came out, spent hours learning how to build ships but i just can't believe or trust them anymore.
i am... Cautiously optimistic . i was seriously disappointed after building ships multiple time and having the game just eat them. i am also concerned about the warp mechanics described so far. just a giant announcement for everyone looking and you have to just stand there and wait? this guarantees ganking against basic miners.
gonna keep my negative review until we get a singpleplayer mode, or a self-host mode where i can play with friends.
Once bitten twice shy.
fully understand how you feel, im mostly cautiously optimistic, they still have ALOT to fix, but its a start and we are moving again!
Сейчас наверно опять надо с нулЯ учиться строить корабль они опять ввели какую-нибудь фигню без которой корабль не полетит... 😅
nothing new that i know of that will change ships flying, the heat update was long ago now!
Not looking forward to the toxic ass community again though... Nice to see you're still making content though Ken
absolutely, but dont let the loudest of the community represent the community as a whole!
But it just didn't and never will.
really sorry to hear there, would love to sit down and run through what went wrong originally and help you find your way
@@KenetorTV What is the point, barely 100 players have been into the game for years now. And the ship editor is the same. Nothing snaps properly, the meshing of plates and components with beams in between is a nightmare.
Honestly I don't even know the reason the vast majority of people hate this game, but for me as a builder, particularly of replicas, it's the crappy ship editor.|
Don't know how you can still be so into this game...
I left this game over a year ago now due to the state of PVP. I'm not seeing anything different here for those wanting a more casual relaxing experience. So still not interested.
completely fair, hopefully some of the future changes will bring you back but you shouldnt feel bad about wanting to wait and see more till something entices you back!
eeeee
EBM is truly the worst thing...in the world!
im sure Clarkson would agree!
I thought this game died, cause of how poorly they handed the PVP aspect.
Glad I refunded when I did, not going to fall for this
