I didn’t notice! Not a single ad for Player’s Number 6 or Bovril . Not even space for the half time scores. Notice how many of the Upton Park fans are wearing jackets and ties - probably worked Saturday morning. Interesting chairs borrowed from the set of Space 1999 for the interview with Sir Jimmy Hill after the match. Also nice to see a proper bald and tubby referee at Elland Road
No money means no buying new players, every penny thru gate & advertising counts. You'll see clubs who had adverts painted on the stand roofs like Bisto etc & that was from early 20th Century.
@@stevemellor655 What a legend. People now have NO idea just how good Bobby Charlton was. He did a man-to-man marking job on Franz Beckenbauer in the 66 final, and took him out the game. Sir Bobby Charlton was so fit and could run ALL day, even though his hair made him look old.
Proper football, no kits plastered with advertising, a pudding of a pitch and players giving their all and not playing wounded soldiers to gain free kicks and penalties.
Trevor Brooking masterclass, but Geoffrey's wonder goal was set up by a brilliant save by Bobby Ferguson at his near post, which Brian Moore overlooked. I was at this game - still utterly fabulous after 55 years. When football was 90 minutes of pure entertainment.
Keith Macklin “Emlyn Hughes pleads tearfully with referee Mr Newsome” Brian Moore”Mr Kirkpatrick goes over to have a word with his linesman”😂 It is indeed Roger Kirkpatrick
I remember RK he always ran back like Mr Bumble when last orders was announced...legs going ten to the dozen ,knees up high and arms swinging back and forth
A well past his best Dave Mackay just strolling through it as a sweeper . Some great talent on show . Nearly 55 years ago and sobering to think a very large percentage of the crowd will have all passed on , certainly nearly everybody who was 35 and over 😮.
Brian always got carried away in some of his commentary,s . The Bobby charlton free kick incredible to watch . Nearly put pat jennings into row x in the Stretford end
One of these teams will win the title within 3 years with most of the team here? Not many picked the right one I bet.West Ham oh West Ham.Flattered to deceive every week back then.
Evelyn Hughes is a right gurn. Unpopular amongst his team mates. Tommy Smith hated him. So annoying that he was given his own bedroom on away trips for Liverpool.
How refreshing to watch a game of football with zero advertising !

@@seltaeb9691 true...but I would argue money has actually ruined most sport !
And NO VAR.
@@mal18208 i agree. And much else also!
The class of Trevor Brooking ...
Harry Redknapp in his prime
RIP Sir Bobby Charlton! What a player!
And 12 O Levels…

Bent as a nine bob note. Vile cretin.
Great upload thank you, A classy & brainy Trevor Brooking.
Jimmy Hill's interviews with players are always a real pleasure to watch. Trevor Brooking is so articulate.
I was at the West Ham match. I was 12 ! Great players and memories.
Magnificent! Thank-you!
RIP Sir Bobby Charlton! What a player!
What a goal

Love football from this era..!
Proper football, no kits plastered with advertising, a pudding of a pitch and players giving their all and not playing wounded soldiers to gain free kicks and penalties.
This is absolutely terrific. Players nowadays don't know what they're missing. Besides, it upped your skill level playing in those conditions
Foreign players introduced the play acting and diving.
No Var, how refreshing to see goals without 15 minutes trying to find something wrong with it!

What wonderful entertainment Jimmy Hill Brian Moore as well what more could you want?
Amazing how bad the pitches were in those days. Playing on ploughed fields.

Real football this, otbc, the stamina needed for these pitches
Best sports show intro theme ever.
When the beautiful game was still worth watching, unlike the current stuff which is a bloody joke, in more ways than one.
Then along came the greed League
Players running with the ball like Brooking. Compare that with frauds like Grealish.

Bobby Charlton..the greatest football story ever.
Class football and there allowed to tackle another,,😊

RIP Sir Bobby This was my first Man Utd game.
Bobby charlton scored many thunderbolts from outside the yard box .
Tommy Smith playing an absolute blinder there just before the pen to ensure Leeds players at the back to couldn't run in for any rebound.
Amazing that managers allowed their stars play in mid-week testimonial games.
What a player Brooking was.
Brian Moore only had two superlatives, beautiful and tremendous
Both were awesome
Trevor Brooking was a Rolls Royce of a player
That west ham third shows just how good players were on them bad pitches, not the baize green of today
Scottish manager Brown was down to look at John O’Hare.
12 ‘o levels equates to a Phd in the world of football.
I wonder how many people had colour TVs in 1969 - not many, I wager.
Brian always got carried away in some of his commentary,s . The Bobby charlton free kick incredible to watch . Nearly put pat jennings into row x in the Stretford end
Punditry was as elementary as it gets backs in the 1960s.
So is he happy with the midfield role or not? Come on ask him a fourth time Jimmy! Hmm marvellous isn't it, hmm? Two clean, skilful sides. A one-off.

Only Alan Ball had a higher voice!
Sure Hughes was bothered.
The lasseveral minutes need removing.
You couldn't play rugby on that pitch.
