Jon Sammels... my seven year old self's favourite Gunner. Earlier in 1969, March 15 (then aged six), I'd tasted the bitterness of defeat for the first time I can recall when Swindon beat The Arse in the League Cup final. Ian Ure. Ian Effing Ure. Don Rogers was good that day. Things looked up; Fairs Cup in 1970, League and FA Cup in '71. Charlie George and Michael Thomas remain my footballing heroes. And I still prefer ITV football coverage to that of the detestable BBC.
Some great players on show there. But I thought it was bias towards Chelsea. Osgood, Cook and Hudson for Chelsea. Brown, Astle, Hartford and Cantello for Albion. All wonderful footballers.
I dont know about Jeff Astle, I've never forgiven him fir missing that sitter against Brazil. But Asa Hartford was a great player, especially considering he had a heart problem, if memory serves.
@@martinklein4651 I know. But at international level you have to be expected to be switched on the second you cross the white line. Gerd Muller would not have missed it. It's one of the differences between the great, the good and the also rans.
Had to laugh at the analysis of Mike Summerbee stepping over the line during a throw in. The times before football was interfered with and messed about in every detail by television. In those days the cameras were merely an observer much like a spectator.
Great to hear commentary from the late, great Brian Moore..
Brilliant thanks.
Apart from seeing great games of yesteryear, that intro music is the best and still remember it from being a kid on Sunday afternoons👍
I was 10 years old- my Chelsea childhood heroes..
Me too!

no shitty pundits just the great brian Moore..great players .great games..
Some lovely football being played there, but what an annoying thing to display the clock timer right in the middle of the screen. Absolutely stupid.
Bloody hell …my team Blackpool winning away against the Blades with Tony Currie playing too….yippee

@@Telcontar1962 Hi, you have a long memory, in Astle's defence, he had only just come on the pitch.

Back when WBA were a bigger club than Chelsea
Chelsea won the cup and were third in the league that year, and beat Real Madrid in the Cup Winners Cup final the next year. What did West Brom do?

I don’t think so….
Did I read that right
Bonetti was knocked out by a clinker? A piece of coal?
