The price is too high for me personally, though I don't know if I'd claim Asics went overboard with their greed or anything like that. I have yet to find a shoetuber who doesn't agree the Superblast is the perfect combination of cushion, comfort and responsiveness, and blows all the competition out of the water when it comes to non-plated high stack super trainers. Pure in terms of specs, I don't know of any other shoes that have that much stack height and don't weigh more. Sure, a carbon plated race day shoe doesn't cost a whole lot more, but the typical super shoe has about half the life span of what we can expect from the Superblast. So I guess the sales numbers will end up giving the final verdict on the whole "overpriced" argument.
Price is justified for me. It does well 800m+ @ 10k pace. For faster efforts like the 200-400m, I use the Magic Speed 2. It really shines in the tempo paces, 1/2 to full marathon. The big stack of FF Turbo is a dream to run on without it collapsing. Fast rebound and stable. This is my shoe of the year. I have a 3 shoe rotation: Daily: Superblast Carbon plated trainer: Magic Speed 2 Racer: Metaspeed Edge+
The weight makes it really tempting. The things that make me hesitate are the boat-like shape, similar to Novablast, and the holes in the bottom that some people have said pick up a lot of stones. Interesting review though. Your thoughts are a little different than many who have reviewed.
Another thoughful review Thanks! - I think it is an amazing shoe for zone 2 training - which is the majority of most peoples time - from 10kM race onwards. I find i can run tempo pace with this shoes as efficiently as with any of any my super shoes. Agree that its not ideal for slow recovery runs. Given i can use this for all my base miles i am prepared to pay a 20 dollar premium. I have wasted a lot of cash trying to find a shoe like this - new shoes with almost no mileage on them
Mad respect when someone who receives a shoe isn’t afraid to tell a company how they rly feel. And clearly, it’s evident ASICS got greedy on this one with pricing. If they were truly selling the shoe at a fair price like they HIGHLY CLAIMED at the release of this shoe, do you rly think they could afford to drop it even 20 dollars like they have? Nope. So that tells me they lied. But I digress. I effing love the Novablast 3 TR and it’s definitely fair priced. Who knows maybe they even under priced that one and are barely breaking even on it. Besides saucony, ASICS may be my favorite shoe company atm. I forgive you ASICS.
these come larger! Bought these same gray/yellow 9.5 and felt like 10-10.5. Bought another pair (pink) and felt great. Clearly the gray were larger / longer. Don’t know if it was just a lot of shoes.
Great for easy days, I’m 85kg muscle forefoot/midfoot.. Maybe different experiences for weaker lighter people.. 200 dollars ain’t expensive unless ya homeless

Nice, how does it fit compared to your Metaspeed Edge+, is it identical or a bit longer? I’ve got edge+ but found Novablast 3 was WAY longer.

They do collect pebbles, I forgot to mention that 😅
Thanks for watching!

Great review! Quick question, what do you think is the best do it all Asics running shoe? I have my eyes on this one but not 100% sure yet

Good for over pronation and knee pain?
