Put this things in a bad Adidas upper, like the Adios Pro 3, and it’s downright lethal to your feet… especially in a marathon training block.

I have both. The blast is best for faster paced long runs, I even used it on a flat 100 miler and they did above well. The Boston has more of that ground, confident foot strike feel that is a little less forgiving in my opinion on long runs. That being said they are both great shoes, but I believe the superblast is the superior here, other than durability where the Boston obviously has it beat. Superblast just allows you to stay fresh after those long workouts

The crazy thing for us here is Asics never seems to have sales. Like, ever, on new models. Meanwhile Adidias Canada has regular decent deals. B12 will be on a sale before year end.
I am currently looking at the Boston 12 as my longrun shoe, I do alot of marathon & steady pace on my longruns. Would love to get the superblast but that price difference is abit much I think. Pretty much got everything else in my rotation covered atm.
Nice comparison...think you are spot on. For some reason though at slower paces when I heel strike a little more...I feel the superblast is clunky underfoot...its my marathon tempo trainer and days where I am going out for +10k or more...The Boston I felt a little of the foot overspill feeling as was narrower...but it had that forefoot pop off like a super shoe...both great shoes.
I happen to have both. To me the most noticeable difference is the stability. The superblast is a tad bit more stable due to it's wider platform. But in terms of "springiness" Boston is a bit more responsive perharps due to it's carbon rods. Superblast however is still as springy, but offers a little bit more cushioned feel (although in my opinion ffblast turbo and lightstrike is quite similar in terms of cushion feel).
@@soul0merk The wideness and sidewalls of the superblast make it more stable, while there's no stability elements to the midfoot and forefoot for the Boston 12. It's neutral.
I run both and dont find they compete with eachother. Superblast are long run comfort kings and boston 12 are livlier firmer shorter faster distance runs. The superblast can go fast but they arnt carbon plated shoes fast. The boston 12 can go slow but lacks stability and firm at those paces.
I haven't run in either, but tried both in store. Your comments on the upper reflect exactly what I experienced. I couldn't get a secure lockdown in the Boston. I don't like to to do the runners knot or whatever you want to call it as I don't like the pressure it creates. The Superblast upper was fine, but I felt I could possibly go down half a size. Did you have a full thumb width at the end? I find almost every ASICS shoe rubs on the side of my big toe. The Superblast is clearly bigger than most ASICS and I wonder if going down half a size will result in toe rub again. Both mid soles felt great to be honest. Regarding heel striking in the Superblast, I am also a heal striker and I feel the Superblast slaps down with no midfoot contact whereas the Boston rolls through better. However the heal/ankle collar in the Boston just kills it for me. It wasn't just heal slip, the cut around the ankle was also bothering me, rubbing on the underside of my ankle. I don't understand some of the choices made to shed weight lately. Padding on the sides of the heal, but nothing at the back. How much weight did that save? This is not just the Boston, in general there are some weird choices made with lack of padding tongues too. A lot is not needed, just a thin strip down the middle will often do the job. Anyway, this is already too long. Thanks for the comparison.
Oh my god.. I have both.. So different... 🎉🎉🎉 Both amazing. I use the Boston 12 for long runs mostly with some offroad.. Superblast does collect small stones and I have to stop at the end of the trail to get them out..

The asics and wide? I couldn`t really fit in my right ankle. It was super tight... other lacing changed nothing. The upper on the Superblast was very strict, didn`t give me any room. Ordered the Boston 12, lets see, they look wider than the Asics on the Ankle.

I'm actually using the Pro for marathon training so this is a daily chore. Compare this to my Asics (Gel Nimbus) which just slide on and are good to go.
I solved tongue issues on the Boston by threading the laces through the slot on the tongue just a bit higher up, so it kinda pulls the laces down slightly and pulls the tongue up more... they have been super comfy ever since without any more faffing about and no need for the runner's knot!!!
I'm a bit confused about the Superblast, is it something akin to a Saucony Endorphin Speed 3? Is it as good for speed work as that shoe, or is it more towards easier and tempo (sub threshold)? If so, how does it feel on very easy recovery runs compared to the Nike Invincible? Seems like it's perhaps a bit between the two?
