    I needed this. I've been stuck on tryna do a Timbo style bounce from the mid-late 2000s. So I can take these examples and go back head strong! Thanks Will!

    when u get to god tier programer you realise that the degree of swing changes throughout rhythmic phrases. For example Crazy in love by beyonce, the drum sample progressively becomes straighter towards the end of bar which continually keeps the swing fresh.

    Awesome stuff! I like how you seemlessly went from talking specifically about groove theory to some real composing strategies. I know for a fact that I will use The strategy of: making a bouncy loop, then at specific points muting (or removing) elements and introduce something more sporadic, like a fill or something. It truly felt like a hack.
    This was very useful for me, as I Am very new to producing music in DAWs. Thanks dude.

    I totally agree with Squiggles, the quality of your videos (and effect racks) is amazing. Would love if you could make a complete (paid) course about groove. I have looked everywhere but there’s not much quality content I can find about hip hop type drums and not EDM style

    Really nice mate - overall flavour of the track was cool too. One thing I've never been certain on with groove is, if I'm looking for that kind of push-pull vibe (think Ontario or Figures by Bonobo), which hits to do behind the beat and which ones to bring forward. Any thoughts on that?

    • @WillHatton
      @WillHatton  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Both can be achieved with hats!
      Hats in front of the snare sound pushed, hats behind the snare sound lazy. But generally there are no particular rules!

  • @yxungdisco
    @yxungdisco 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does the Ableton delay actually print once you export the track on live 11? Cause that was an issue on 10 so I stuck with humanizing by manually moving the audio or midi.

    HOW DARE YOU TALK SHT ABOUT 100 GECS, "stupid horse" is the music Beethoven would be making if he was still alive, but NO he's dead af like a dead parrot, so Dylan Brady and Laura les, known as 100 gecs, decided to literally invent music PERIOD, to show sebastian bach and mozart how to make fking great music, cause apparently those mf are also dead, and they didnt make "stupid horse" even when the were alive right ?? how weird is it rlly ?? gec dropped their 1000 album and since then, every music making person on the entire planet earth has been very quiet, coincidence ??? NUH HUH, I don't think so !!
