hahaha, i downloaded the sampepack and there was a perc called "delicious" . when i played it it was a fart. this man is better than most producers and most comedians.
Dude, the world just opens up for you when you go off the grid. I love nudging my drum hits right and left to get that perfect, barely-audible human sound. Fascinating stuff.
Dude, I love you so much. Literally have been looking for someone like you who could really explain what is going on rather than make BEATS! You are an excellent teacher!
Yeah I'd love a lesson on this. Making authentic sounding jazz drums has always evaded me. The different roles and prominence of the kick, snare, and cymbals throws me off every time.
When I heard the song preview I thought "okay, that's not my kinda thing but let's watch anyway" and now after having seen it be produced it actually sounds hella dope
the drum part is interesting .. but i really NEED to know how you did process your bass + wuble + glitchy synth to obtain this WOaWzErzZ F*ck*n Sound..!!!
One of my favorite demos of swing is in a video called "Chief Rugged's 12Bit Madness #9". He enters notes and remarks that it sounds too stiff. Then he turns up swing, and the magic happens.

@@jacobwertheimer1525 Haha thank you for the encouragement, honestly age doesn't matter in art, you can become great too :) I don't even know any music theory yet just focusing on finishing tracks

There's one thing you didn't bring up that I'm surprised by: You can push things ahead of the current beat. Often when I make drum loops in Ableton Live I will create a 3, 5, or 9 bar clip instead of 2, 4, or 8 bars. I'll set the Loop slider for the clip at the beginning of bar 2, and you can have a lead in fill in the first measure if you'd like. It allows you to push the kick drum ahead of the beat, and if you add in a kick at the very end of the loop and make sure it crosses the threshold of the clip it will loop back into the tail end of the note from the bar that got cut off in the loop. Pushing the hi hats is good for certain genres, as well as the ride cymbal. Sometimes it's nice to push the snare as well.
