    This was a wonderfully clear tutorial! Thank you!

    This is right up my street. The Kickstarter almost passed my by entirely.
    Love the art and it looks like a slightly more interative art of some of the Tom Lehmann games I really enjoy. I can see this appealing to some of my non-euro gamer friends too.

    Just backed it. Thundergryph always put up nice games.

    Great video. As others have said this shares some DNA with res Arcana. Res is my favorite game ever. Not sure this has enough going to take that spot. But it looks like a solid game. I do like the speed of play. I'll likely wait for retail and hope they do support it moving forward with expansion content. Im sure that will depend on the success they have with the campaign and reception on delivery.

    Reminds me a lot of Res Arcana which I love! Followed the game on KS

    Great tutorial. Some folks I know watched and said they weren't interested in a take that game. It seems to me that attacking is relatively rare and that the life dial is more important as a way to make it dangerous to buy/defeat threat cards. Am I correct in this assessment?

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'd argue that the "take that" attacks in this game are largely thematic in feeling. You always attack all players, and the only thing you ever do to them is remove some of their health (and I think one or two cards forces an exhaust/recall, you could just remove those).

    First comment! I've been watching this game as a possible interest.

    The game looks good for what it is. Unfortunately it doesn't look like a game for me. Thanks for the play through!

    What are your thoughts on whether it can be played solo? Obviously that is what you are doing in the video. Can the card drafting part be eliminated? >

    It looks a bit like Res Arcana. Do you think it's worth having both ? I must say I prefer the art of Etherstone.

      I try not to be opinionated in sponsored videos BUT, yeah this feels like fun Res Arcana in many ways. I did not like Res Arcana much at all but I think what Etherstone is doing is quite interesting. I have only played each of these games twice though, so take that however you want :)

    57:30 Doesn't look like it'll be too relevant, but I think you may have missed adding a token to Spiritual Marking for summoning Awaken Oneiros. Great video as always though.

    I should mention that at 2:09, your microphone was on mute for 2 seconds before coming back online at 2:11. I can't hear what the first action was involving the dice you moved to the center during that timeflame.

      Ah that's a bummer, just an editing mistake it seems.

    At 54:33 you could have played the Ant Duchess with the double discount from soul judge and growth paradox. You needed just one green etherstone and not two of them

      Came here to say the same thing. Void being wild can be confusing. When you gain them it is obvious you can take whatever colour you want, but when it's a discount it could mean it only applies to actual void costs on card and not the coloured requirements.
      I wish they had used a symbol depicting all 4 colours for that leader.

    Great play through. I‘m pretty on the edge tbh. Just one question (maybe I didn’t get it.) Intoxicated Exos. The „Attack“ ability. I attack with 6 Live, I get 1 dmg, so 5 life then. When is the second part of the ability triggered? Before I attack? Or after I get damaged? After the leader gets damage? I think there was one circumstance in the video where the blue player missed to get 2 Victory points (IF you get 2VP after you got damaged….for example 1:01:57 ) I hope it is clear what I wanted to ask ^^

    • @JonGetsGames
      @JonGetsGames  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I noticed this ambiguity while filming, and intend to make sure it's clear in the final version (as much as I can as the rulebook writer).

      I think he missed the 2 point also at 38:55

      @@JonGetsGames The timing of such rules is very important in card games like this, especially when the idea is to grow the card pool over time with extra abilities.
      Making a step by step action sequance miight be a good idea for an attack.
      Similar timing question popped into my head when the orange player returned the card to hand for 2 damage, and then the other card dealt 1, depleting both tokens on the prevent card from blue. One could thinks the 2 and 1 damage were a single action/event so only 1 counter would be used preventing it.

    At 1:06:00, Blue could've ended the game, by taking the purple 1 die and triggering their Conscience card. Also, would your leader give a discount of ANY Etherstone, or just the voidstones? It seems weird that Voidstone costs can use anything but discounts don't.

      @shteevie 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good catch on the end game situation - I saw that as well, but it would not have changed the rankings of players.
      I think the purple resource icon means "whatever color you want this to be", so a discount of 1 purple can be applied to any color.

    Is it just my screen or are those “white” etherstones actually light blue?

  • @Mike_James

    only a few minutes in and i see cards can be exhausted. cards are too large for that to manage comfortably. id highly suggest exhaust tokens be in the game to better handle what would certainly be a frustrating thing.

    • @humanaffectation9021
      @humanaffectation9021 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      You could easily modify this to lowering an exhausted card about an inch from your line of cards. Much easier on space and also less clutter this way.

    • @Dean_Bean
      @Dean_Bean 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's a good point. You can easily use a cube or token from another game if nothing gets unlocked during the campaign.

      rotating by 30 degrees is clear enough and doesn't require lots of additional space.

    nice tutorial and nice game. but i am just wondering why again (!) a tutorial for a non existing game? almost all reviewers go with non existing games? why? sometimes those games never make it to retail. some of them take more then 18 months to hit the store shelfs. Review and play something we can actual buy in a store.

    • @donbooger
      @donbooger 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +13

      It's a commissioned tutorial video. The majority are like that as you have noticed. A lot of people prefer learning via video. More importantly though for a non existing game being kick-started with no reviews a playthrough like Jon's is all we have to go on. So producers like Thundergryph will commission videos from creators like Jon to show how the game plays. I am grateful for it, I backed the game after this video.

    • @MultiFutanari
      @MultiFutanari 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      I actually find these tutorials to be very helpful when deciding whether I want to back a game or not, even more so than reviews, so I am glad they exist.

      As others have said, this is a sponsored video that is part of the marketing campaign to get the game made.
