Terrific tutorial Jon. Cool game, very thematic. As a comics fan it makes me want to purchase the game, although I do feel it is just slightly over complex for its own good.

Thanks for your tutorial, Jon. I've been enjoying your videos for some time now. The gameplay in "Age of Comics" seems very interestiing, and as a comics fan, the look and feel of the game are right on the money.
One of the thematic aspects that I find fascinating is the option to publish a "rip-off" comic title. I don't know whether you've read anything by Michael Chabon, but in one of his novels, he goes into the history and origins of American comic books. As part of it, he states that creative sterility was one of the most persistent problems of comics in their earliest days, after they started experimenting with drawing original content (rather than reprinting newspaper strips). Because their artists were so inexperienced, they almost always resorted to simply making "carbon copies" of stories and characters from other media, like radio or pulp magazines. Chabon credits the creation of Superman with helping comics break out of that funk, but I'm sure that rip-offs of other comics persisted even after that.
The expansion featuring "hit list" cards is interesting, too. Do you know what that's supposed to represent? I wonder whether it has to do with the public antipathy against comic books, brought on in part by Dr. Fredric Wertham's book.

Thank you so much for your insightful comment! You're right on both counts. The theme of publishing "rip-off" comics is indeed reflective of the early challenges faced by the comic book industry, much like those described in Michael Chabon's work. As for the 'hit list' cards in our expansion, they were inspired by the historical backlash against comic books, particularly the influence of Dr. Fredric Wertham’s criticisms.

Thanks for the teach. another good one. Your videos are always great to learn from. I do think you may have got one thing wrong though, around 16:00 when the yellow player was printing a rip-off, I think you can only a rip-off of a comic printed in a previous round. (Page 8 of the rule book).

At 29:19 your note says "This effece lets you swap two writers AND two artists each time it is activated", I think you meant your note to say "This effect lets you swap two writers AND two artists each time it is activated".
