Hi huuny. I'm off on a Norwegian cruise in 45 days. No I'm not counting the days! 😂 Going on the Iona and Alesund is one of our stops. Luckily on a Wednesday. Can you remember the name of the wool shop/s there? Not sure I will be bringing 8K back. Husband would have a fit. 😂😂😇 But definitely want to get some nice skeins or hanks. £40 a hank won't be an option. We booked this cruise 18 months ago and I've done a little saving. Not easy in our current budgeting, but got a little play money. I've been trying to research the shops and have figured out Garn is the most important word. Any tips for yarn shopping gratefully received. Love the laundry bag idea. Might actually pack one in the case. Happy Knitting xxJane 🐑🌼
Thanks for the comment. Lofoten wool was certainly an exception at £40. The shop in Alesund is the Husfliden. Nice shop. Another shop I looked at there had been closed for years hut was still on Google. Alesund is very calm and pretty. Have the best time ever Jane xx
@@Ms.Murchison not sure off the top of my heard. It’s in the Norwegian knitting primer book and we have an early video from last year and a flick through of it 🧶
Tip for traveling when on a yarn cruise, along the Norwegian coast. I did it in 2022: take a duffel into your suitcase on the way towards your destination for your purchases, and have 2 suitcases booked for the return. Take with some roll up vacuum bags as well. On my return trip I had a 20kg suitcase just with the Yarns, that I cannot get locally. I am situated near Stavanger in close proximity to 3 good value yarn outlets (house of yarn group, Sandnes Garn and Viking yarn) BTW. Almost every port along the route has some sort of yarn shop, some even featuring independent Norwegian dyers
Awesome ideas! I bought a laundry bag as it’s inexpensive and zips, so would be accepted at the airport. I’m like you-so many gorgeous yarns you can’t get over here. 😀 Thank you for your comment.
I’m so glad I’ve stumbled across your TH-cam channel. I’m going to Norway in May and I’m a knitter!!! Thankyou for all your tips. Are Oslo and Bergen easy to walk around? Or did you rely on public transport. Thanks for the great video. Chris 🦘
Thank you so much for your kind comment! I plan to go back in December. Yes easy to walk around, but if you are going away from the shopping area to explore then you may need to get transport. The Hillesvåg factory in Bergen can be accessed by bus I believe. Take care, Rachel 😀
"Marled" is the word you're looking for regarding the 2 colors plyed together in the yarn.
Thank you!!

I'll let you know how it goes! 🧶
@janedaniel7288 please do. Maybe you’ll find some new shops for me to look at !
I love the green and white Hillesvåg genser/sweater/jumper you are wearing!
Thank you-it’s lovely and warm.
@@LittleMissDropStitch I agree, it's lovely! What's the name of the pattern? Thanks for the video!
