    Thanks for taking us on this tour of your local yarn shops - it was nice to see so much lovely yarn. To have a yarn store that close to me will definitely be a detriment to my wallet - so much gorgeous yarn in every shade.

      I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I've been doing better this year with yarn-shopping self-control, but it's hard to resist new yarn :)

    Oh my golly! Balm for the knitters soul!!! I sooo enjoyed this! The variety was amazing!! I live in Lancaster PA, USA and knitting stores here have meager offering comparatively! I have started ordering cones on line as this will be the year of colorwork sweaters!! I just finished my first sweater for me from deepstash baby alpaca and now, I am off to the sweater races!! Love your podcast! Stay warm, knit faster!!!

      I can't wait to see what colorwork sweaters you make! I'm powering through my Lillehammer '94 sweater and am so excited to do more colorwork after! So happy you enjoyed this episode ❤

    I love your Podcast and your designs! Honestly, I don’t know why you don’t have more subscribers. Why haven’t people discovered you? Anyway, it was so much fun getting a tour of the yarns stores. Ive been to Bundingen and love it and also Husflid but never Snarby. I can’t wait to visit it in March! Thank you, Samantha! 😊🧶🌟

      Aww thanks so much, Julianna! I'm so glad you like my designs and videos ❤You'll absolutely love Snarby! It's so hard to keep myself from buying yarn whenever I pass by there (which unfortunately happens a lot 😅)

    Nice video! I think you hit the nail analyzing the Norwegian yarn stores. I completely agree. I'm one of the few Norwegians who prefer plant fibers, so I order mine from Turkey.

    • @TheStrikkechick
      @TheStrikkechick  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've heard quite a few people at work say that they get yarn from Turkey! Is there a reason why you order from there specifically?

    • @taraldstein7165
      @taraldstein7165 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheStrikkechick It's really cheap (even if the shipping double the price). I guess they've done a good marketing job. I've tried to find other sources, but have yet to find anywhere with similar prices and variety of yarns. The checkout and shipping is also accessable for a foreigner. Conciously, I'd like to find an alternative.

    Wonderful episode 😁🤗 it was such a great thing to watch your tour and shops in Tromso look amazing 🤩 I'm very curious Abt Rauma and Hillesvag cause in Poland thera are not available. Besides I love every short videos with Tromso so sneak them more often 🤗

      I do love the shops here. But it makes it so hard to not spend all my money on yarn 😅 I'll definitely be filming more short videos of Tromsø soon so there will definitely be more footage in future videos!

    Hi Samantha. Loved this video. Those yarn stores are amazing. Thank you so much for the tour. I would love to see more of the beautiful area that you live in. Yarn stores in Australia unfortunately are very few and far between and mega expensive. Most people I know buy from independent dyers. I have bought quite a bit of yarn from
    Woolwarehouse in the UK as the postage to Australia is actually quite reasonable, and I love the organza bags ❤

    • @TheStrikkechick
      @TheStrikkechick  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m glad you liked it! I’ve heard of wool warehouse from Jamie Creates - seems like how a lot of Australian knitters get their yarn. How do you decide on what to buy if you can’t see/feel the yarn beforehand? Is it mostly reviews?

    • @lmrk5705
      @lmrk5705 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the yarn I’ve bought from Wool Warehouse has been self patterning sock yarn by Opal or Regia and you can’t really go wrong with that. I’ve just recently bought my first over sweater quantity of yarn from them, so I hope it is ok 🙈 Regarding Independent dyers, most of the ones I purchase from have been recommended by knitting friends.

    Samantha, thanks for the great yarn tour!!!! It was so much fun to see all the variety you have access to. You're so lucky. And it's so cool that your boyfriend knits, too! Here in South Bohemia we have only 3 yarn shops and two of them sell only acrylic and cotton blends... I have to travel an hour south to Austria to find a great wool store.

    • @TheStrikkechick
      @TheStrikkechick  ปีที่แล้ว

      It truly is a wool-lover's paradise! ☺ Kevin and I haven't knit together since Christmas actually - maybe it's time for another knit and chat soon. Do you usually order your wool online then? It sounds like a fairly frequent long journey otherwise

    Thank you for this lovely video and again I'm amazed at the variety of yarn available ! I live currently in Chișinău Moldova and the yarn is behind a glass or plastic wrap but it's way cheaper than what you mention here, most of the yarn is made is Turkey, no drops or indie dyers here :)

    • @TheStrikkechick
      @TheStrikkechick  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A few Norwegian knitters say that they often look for Turkish yarn - especially for cotton and acrylic varieties! But I’m a wool/alpaca girl so I’m very spoiled by the selection we have here

      Not that I know of unfortunately. I bought it from the Aran Sweater Market in Galway but I know that they have a lot of their patterns available for free download on their website so hopefully there's something similar there!
