even his quote about his ambition being to be the greatest bomber of them all and laugh and grow fat. man just wanted to chill and be dangerous just because.
there is no reason after the because thats why i love him. like another comment said he not a solider he just a menace to society to do menacing things.
Fatman is a pretty unique villain for this series. So many of the bosses you face off against are, when you get right down to it, soldiers. They may be motivated be ideals, loyalty, trauma, or just an inability to adapt to civilian life but they are soldiers. They have reasons for what they do.
But Fatman isn't anything like that. He's not motivated by a greater cause or some deeply intricate purpose. He's just a monster seeking fame and attention. A mass killer fantisizing about the media and movies he thinks will be made of him as a result of the pain and destruction he's inflicted, not much different from your average school, church, or supermarket shooter.
True. Psycho-Mantis is the only other boss I can think of that's pretty similar in the sense that he wasn't driven by an ideology, but even he was different from Fatman because he was driven by pure hatred and resentment.

@@tomatoesofdoom true, he's an agent of chaos more or less. especially with the psychotherapy somewhat failing and causing the persona of Liquid to take more control of his body than Ocelot himself. it is interesting seeing how the two's goals and conflicts play out in MGS2 and 4
Olga was an agent, but unwilling. Raiden is also an unwilling agent if you want to count that. Rose was an agent too. And let's not forget....

@chuckbuskee hmmmmmm 5 comes to mind as the weakest fpr me, imo. They aren't bad, but they aren't the best. 1 and 3 had it down the best, and honestly, I kinda like the 4 ones. They were creepy. 2 is in this weird category of one boss is awesome and one boss is lame. Like Fatman? Cool! The harrier jet? Mid. Vamp? Badass! The three medal gear Reys? Meh
@chuckbuskee I don't know man this were pretty cool boss battles two decades ago lol especially when it takes full advantage of its camera angles and mechanics I think you have a problem with the character correlation to narrative not the actual boss battles itself. Mgs v gets no excuses whatsoever though.

Looking up the voice actors for this game and it turns out fatman was also in the 70s Jesus Christ Superstar as Pilot. Dude got a beautiful voice as well as beautiful hands!

In Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance, the Snake Tales side mode where you play as Solid Snake has Fat Man appearing in it, but I can’t remember if he was a boss or just in it. Maybe you are remembering that?

i think the reason people associate yell dead cell with fatman boss fight is because its the quietest boss battle of all the other even tho yell dead cell plays for all bosses

Normally your average Metal Gear Solid protagonist would silently listen to the villain monologuing before and after the fight and then leave the battle scene without saying a word. Not Raiden though. He snapped at Fatman for mocking Stilman and proceeded to provocate and insult Fatman. You can genuinely tell how much Raiden despises this guy
