Yeah, But I think this is gonna be one of those mysteries that will never be solved. Kinda like how Peter Parker always disappears whenever Spiderman shows up.
Heathen Pride Because he was never really a villain. He wanted to put an end to the Patriots. ALL of the Plant Chapter happened BECAUSE of the Patriots, from the beginning to the very end. The Patriots pinned Solidus and Raiden against each other, due to Raiden's nanomachines being connected to Olga's future child, Sunny. Therefore, in MGS4, keeping Raiden alive was a HUGE priority throughout that whole game, cause upon his death, Sunny would have immediately fell-- I'm digressing from the topic a bit much. Point is, Solidus was never a villain; He was a puppet, a pawn under control of the La li lu le lo, and he wanted to be remembered as the man who put an end to their twisted regime, being remembered as an exon of history instead of an intron.
Heathen Pride The least memorable snake? he sure as hell has the least appereances, so it isn't a fair argument. He really was one of the more memorable villains overall, because of his motivations and this entrance.
Pedro Juan I guess he’s better than Skull Face, but that really isn’t much to brag about. The others, though? Venom Snake, Big Boss, Liquid Snake, Liquid Ocelot, and even The Boss were more interesting, if not compelling. George being an anti-villain is compelling, but aside from the vanilla ass Skull Face I’d still prefer the other villains.
Heathen Pride Well it comes to personal preference really, I never really liked Venom because he felt shoe horned in the lore and had no identity of his own, also him existing never affected the story in any way shape or form, IMO made it worse, more convoluted (if a random unnamed guy can match Big Boss in Skills why not clone him instead? bonus that he most likely can reproduce and there didn't need to be more Snakes) , The Boss wasnt really the main Villain, it was Volgin who's not really a deep character at all, he is a James Bond villain. Solidus was right in most of what he talked about and was the first to opose the greater scope villains that were the patriots, and also had some of the best lines in the series (0:48), he's memorable for that IMO. Also I've heard people talk about how you fight the dual katana wielding expresident elder clone brother of Solid Snake in an exoeskeleton with tentacles who you fight a top of federal hall, when describing MGS.
1:15 I just realized- Solidus’ voice is either really loud or Snake’s hearing is flawless, cuz he was able to convey these words to Snake when there was literally a helicopter adjacent to them
You know one thing I always liked about Solidus Snake's voice is that it seemed to be an amalgamation of Liquid and Solid Snake's voices which makes sense because Solidus was as President James Johnson said "Neither Solid nor Liquid "
1:48 I love how it shows both of their Super soldier abilities. Snake can do headshots easily in a moving helicopter without using the scope, solidus can see and block bullets despite the heavy wind from the helicopter that should be messing up his vision a little.
There's actually a reason for that. Raiden's memory of his past life was altered and suppressed, through implanting his cerebral cortex with a high concentration of nanomachines.
Though you know what's something I find more funny? That Solidus barely recognized Raiden till later, he remembered he did know him somewhere before, but didn't realize or remember who exactly he was till later. Though then again it's been over a decade since he's last seen him, and raiden's grown as well since Solidus last saw him.

@@theta_clips Solidus Killed the parents of those he chose to train to be killers. No matter the goal, no person in normal capacity gets to do that. He is deeply disturbed. Probably as disturbed as Eli as we see his anger is enough to overpower Psycho mantis as a child. He didn't give Raiden a chance to fight back, there was just no more fight in him. Ocelot betrayed him and the whole big shell incident is a patriot's simulation. Raiden will kill Solidus no matter what since they got Rose and Sunny. Solidus will simply surrender or just finish what he started against Raiden as they mirror the battle in Zanzibar(Snake vs Big Boss). He simply fought as his moment as a "soldier" but there is nothing to it anymore. He was a pawn then, he is still a pawn now. He is also suffering from a faster advanced aging than Snake so he literally had so little to live even if he chose to surrender. His fight was for naught and now he just wants to prove himself that he will at least die a soldier. But in no way is he giving Raiden a chance. They're both "monsters" created by Patriots. @@desolatortrooper7196 how are his goals close to solid snake's? Snake is always just a pawn being controlled by others. Big Boss wanted freedom from the patriots and freedom in general. Solidus is very much the same in that regard. Also Liquid and Armstrong too
@@yourmum69_420 well Solidus and Solid don't rant about Big Boss 24/7 and both pretty much want freedom for everyone. The main difference came from the fact that Solidus is ruthless. While Snake had a tranquilizer gun for the marines in the Tanker Solidus don't mind slaughtering the navy SEAL if necessary. As far as i'm concerned in MG1 and 2 Big Boss wanted to create a military state that could ve a refuge for soldiers so they aren't just pawns to greater power. Meanwhile Outer Heaven would have been a mercenary nation, armed with nukes so it can't be attacked and could counter balance the Patriots influence. Same thing with Liquid. For me Solidus is mostly Solid Snake personnality/belief but with Liquid methods. But after it is what is Solidus as a character. A mix between Solid and Liquid. Solidus is a state where matter go from Solid to Liquid. Just like the character who was a pawn and later turn into a rebel against the Patriots
Well the whole bitter pill of MGS2 is that you're fighting the freedom fighter, mainly because he's willing to annihilate society just to burn the Patriots.
Snake can scare the explosion by looking at it so the damage will be controlled. Look at the harrier missiles, it should've destroyed the whole of Big shell but it only destroyed a bridge.

Most of the time video games just get it right, and it usually looks shit on screen with actual people. Probably because it was accompanied by the actual creators, whereas live action always have some third party person that want to do something "a little extra" and blows the whole thing to smoke.
As Phantom Pain draws nearer I find myself wishing Cygan has voiced Big Boss from the start and not just for plot reasons. He obviously does 'imposing' well but could he do the younger more naive Naked Snake? I actually think he would have done a better job Than Hayter tbh. A lot of Snake's weakness for the boss is left to our imagination due to Davids rasp not having a lot of range. Personally I think Cygan would have smashed MGS3 as Snake,
Solidus-Skully I honestly think all the Snakes should have had the same voice regardless of the voice actors like the JP version, in JP Raiden and the player actually think Solidus is Solid Snake before he reveals himself.
Okay everyone! Listen up!!! Solidus is snake is not Venom Snake!! The real Venom Snake died in 1995 a few decades before MGS1!! Now the other reason why Solidus appears older is because he was bio-engineered that way. As mgs4 will later tell you. Later on , Solidus and liquids bodies are used as spare parts for Big Boss who was badly burned beyond recognition in 1999 by snake himself. Venom snake is already dead
Just a heads-up. If we dropped a Stinger inside its case from more than 3 feet, it had to be checked over by a maintenance team, and if not in the case and dropped only 2 feet, it was likely unserviceable. So feel free to just toss them out of a helicopter! Also, a Stinger is 59 inches long, and you need the missile round, gripstock, and a Battery-Coolant Unit (BCU) to fire it, and a BCU only gives you about 40 seconds of power and argon coolant before the seeker head overheats.
You can’t think about that kind of shit when you have an ex president cloned super soldier in a cybernetic mech suit piloting a fucking harrier towards you!

Even after Solidus' defeat Raiden felt nothing that everything is just a game until Snake convinced him otherwise.
1:00 My reaction when people complain about David Hayter being "replaced".
No ,that's not Big Boss!
Snake was getting all defensive when Solidus claimed he was Solid Snake. Another hint Pliskin was Solid Snake.
2:02 When you step on a LEGO brick.
So an identical copy of Big Boss and Solid Snake served as the President of the United States and Solid Snake never noticed?
He changed his look I think
He was holed up in Alaska, drinking too much.
@Starscream91 Vulcan Raven and President Baker are both dead. Mei Ling is just another member of the military, i doubt she met Snake after the shadow moses incident. i don't know what happens with Meryl after mgs1 but Otacon doesn't look like the kind of guy to reach out to Snake just to tell him that he looks like the president.
@Starscream91 Keep in mind that Solidus look older when POTUS due to the accelerated aging. Plus I think when he was POTUS, he probably had like a thick bread thus people didn't recognize. Solid Snake still looked younger with brown hair in Shadow Moses.
@@StardogChampion06 Plus Solidus is known as the perfect clone of Big Boss and it was complete when Raiden took his eye out as Ocelot mentions when Raiden is captured that he is the spitting image of Big Boss and in MGS 4 they used his body to fool Liquid thinking that he was Big Boss cause the real Big Boss was Alive but just drugged and was put in a coma for years by the Poxy AI
If Solidus was real he would've been the greatest President the United States ever had.
@@sirgideonofnir5628 Except he's not but go on I suppose
@@theta_clips lol Solidus is literally the only snake who isn't talking about Big Boss everytime we see him.
His goal are much more close to Solid than Liquid/Venom/Big Boss
I sympathized with Solidus, I always felt he was on the right side. Snake and Raiden should have joined him in his fight against the patriots.
Yeah, but he had children fight as soldiers, so fuck him.
@@soberchimera61 Yeah, true. I kiiinda forgot about that detail.
Solidus Snake wanted to take down the patriots network with a nuke while Sunny/Emma managed to take it down with a computer virus
Well the whole bitter pill of MGS2 is that you're fighting the freedom fighter, mainly because he's willing to annihilate society just to burn the Patriots.
@@GekkoOne As a kid i was like "soooooo did we win or lose?"
Turns out the real ending was supposed to be out lives lived un our own way
wish there was more cutscenes of solidus being badass he was a really cool villain
Snake can blow up the semtex but if I do, it's game over. Feels bad man
Snake can scare the explosion by looking at it so the damage will be controlled. Look at the harrier missiles, it should've destroyed the whole of Big shell but it only destroyed a bridge.
R.I.P John Cygan, no one could have played this role better.

Over 20 years and I never realized Snake was refering to Big Boss with this line. I always assumed he was telling Solidus to stop impersonating HIM(meaning himself). I like it as it shows Snake still has some weird respect for Big Boss and is possibly still having PTSD upon seeing someone resembling Big Boss.
Nah, solid was just hiding his identity
@@aquilesca5tr0 the script specifically says Snake was referring to Big Boss.
"I'M A WHOLE DIFFERENT GAME FROM LIQUID!" So badass!
The best part about this is that Solidus was the president. Like imagine your on a mission and Joe Biden appears talking about how he’s “The boss to surpass Big Boss himself”
By the time this game happens he is not the president anymore

“NO! That is NOT Solid Snake!” That part makes me laugh every time.
I honestly wonder what it would have been like if Solidus was created as a DLC/Secret Boss in Revengeance. Woulda been fucking incredible
If they ever remake this game with the Fox Engine I would love the final boss fight against Solidus to use the same gameplay as Revengence
MGR2 is a lost hope...
Lmao, raiden would destroy him, solidus is strong but not strong as raiden or gray fox
@@RyZeRxWolfChannel I think Solidus would kill Gray fox.
I mean Solid Snake could have beat Gray Fox but i don't think he could beat Solidus (okay mostly because chaff won't work and Solidus won't go Hand to Hand after two lucky punch from Snake) and also because Solidus has take down 3 Rays (lore wise they were the most powerful Metal Gear at the time)
MGR Raiden crush MGS2 Solidus 100%.
But shoud Solidus appears in MGR2 he would probably have been upgraded to the lastest tech available.
@@desolatortrooper7196 I agree with u, solidus is stomping gray fox but not standing up to mgr raiden, unless he gets insane improvements. I think he would’ve beaten raiden in Mgs2 as well but couldn’t really happen due to plot. The guy who’s quick enough to deflect bullets is suddenly unable to win in a sword fight because he couldn’t react? Doesn’t make sense
Guys is pliskin a traitor? The boss to surpass big boss himself called him a 🐍
My friend called Solid Snake Solidus Snake. I didn’t talk to him for a week.

Yeah, he suddenly dissapears in the middle of the story and that solid snake guy replaces him, I wonder what's up with that?
I like how Snake started blasting his rifle instead of waiting for some stupid monologue, waiting to kill him at the end of the game for dramatic reason.

crazy to think that solidus was 17 years old when he adopted raiden
Or younger
This is so Badass I’m not sure why they can’t make a live action movie of MGS1 and MGS2 this is the greatest cutscene ever
Most of the time video games just get it right, and it usually looks shit on screen with actual people. Probably because it was accompanied by the actual creators, whereas live action always have some third party person that want to do something "a little extra" and blows the whole thing to smoke.
"I'll DROWN YOU FOOLS TO INTERFERING!!!"
*for interfering
"THAT'S METAL GEAR! It's already active!?"
I love the way he says that line.
John Cygan your voice was awesome and forever will be remembered as the boss of bosses.
Rest in peace.
"THEY GOT MY EYE" always so funny to me
After he says that, and goes on to say "Vamp, go!" If you look close his eye is still there. Guess they forgot to edit that part lol
Personally I think Cygan would have smashed MGS3 as Snake,
Cygan as Big Boss would've made perfect sense considering that Solidus was pretty much Big Boss in all but legitimate birth.
R.I.P. John Cygan
Solidus-Skully I honestly think all the Snakes should have had the same voice regardless of the voice actors like the JP version, in JP Raiden and the player actually think Solidus is Solid Snake before he reveals himself.
My favorite character in the game! who else? If you don't agree name yours!
AGREED
YES!!!
Solid Snake
Big Boss
Liquid Snake
R.I.P John Cygan 1954-2017.

The sheer shock of Raiden seeing RAY already active. Boy he's in for a surprise, RAY is just the tip of the iceberg 😅
My favorite cutscene in a whole game.
Moja również ;)
2:17 that m203 reload. I always loved the explosions in this game.
