    Screen Sharing in Zoom
    0:00 Zoom screen sharing-Introduction
    0:58 Screen Sharing, how it works?

    4:25 Automatically share desktop
    6:50 Screen Share the interactive whiteboard
    7:56 Thank for watching
    One of the most common things you do in zoom as a teacher is screenshare. when you screen share it allows you to share videos PDF files and in fact anything that is available on the screen of your computer. for example it's common to use screen share as a way of talking through a PowerPoint presentation or discussing some information in a table or a graph. accessing the screen share also allows you to access the interactive whiteboard.
    In this video I will take you through the key functionality of screenshare. There are in fact two different ways of using the screen share facility in zoom and many teachers don't realise this. So for example it is possible to screen share your complete desktop and this way your participants will see everything that is on your screen that you are currently focused on. the problem with doing this is that sometimes you might accidentally open screen that you don't want your students to see. so though this is a good setting it can create problems with privacy. In zoom it is also possible to share a specific window. This normally means that you are sharing a specific application like for example Google Chrome or your PDF files. The important thing to remember when you screen share like this in zoom is that if you begin to share a different window with different content then you need to reshare when you're working with zoom. Zoom will continue to share the application or window that you shared from the beginning. zoom does not move with you to the new window or application unless you press the reshare button. There are several benefits of using this way of screen sharing because it means that you can safely open different applications on your screen and know that your students are not seen what you are doing rather than sharing your complete desktop you are actually sharing a specific application from your computer.
    I use both techniques when working with zoom but it is very important to understand the difference. it is also a really good idea that when you are working with zoom to make sure that you have everything ready before you start your zoom session and that means when you screen share you will see all of the different things that you want to share are already available and in the zoom window. Don't forget to that when you screen share you need to screen share audio as well otherwise when you play a video your student will not be able to hear it.

    For my meetings I use multiple monitors. This allows me to share one screen (as full desktop share) while using my 2nd or 3rd monitor for anything I don't want others to see over the video conference. (Just be careful to share the correct screen). I get the full benefits of desktop share with the benefits of using apps others cannot see.

    Russell, I love this video---some great little known tips! I have always chosen "Stop Share" and started over to get to another application. So knowing that you can choose a NEW share is good to know. Another unrelated question---I LOVE your accent! I'm a Dialect Coach and would love to know how you would describe your accent. I would characterize it as London or a modern version of Cockney, but I'd love to hear what you would say about it! Thanks again. 🙂

    Hey! Thanks for the video. I am having great success using Zoom with prospects. Even without turning on my video but now that I have my Excel presentation fine tuned I am ready for video. I use Excel live with prospects based upon several data points which they share w me on the call. The monitor I use is 45 inch wide. Every once in awhile a prospect will say it is too small and the can’t see it. How could I use Elegato to make my presentation better and have more eye contact. Any thoughts on how I should mix up the screen sharing w video? Any other guidance would be appreciated.

      Consider using Elgato to optimize your Zoom presentations by setting up a dual-screen display, allowing you to share your Excel presentation on one screen and maintain eye contact through video on the other, providing a more engaging and effective communication with your prospects.

    • @ttvRussell

      That is actually because when I edit the recording in Camtasia, I am able to move the webcam around. In Zoom you do have some control over the webcam but each individual user can also move the webcam around when you are screen sharing. It depends on what you are doing, home much control you have over the webcam

    @tinacook2978 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, thank you for sharing this info, Zoom has horrible "resources" for free accounts. Hopefully you can shed some light on an issue I had, I don't understand what happened. I was made a co-host on a Zoom meeting, and there was 1 other co-host. I was sharing my screen (only one doing so), we had a Google Slide show going with audio. It was fine for about 7 minutes, but then somehow the sound cut off and I was no longer sharing the screen. If another co-host is chatting in the chat or the host is doing something on their end, would either of those things cause my screen sharing to stop working? Neither said they stopped the screen sharing or did anything on their end. I still had internet, it didn't go to black screen, I hadn't clicked anything on my computer the whole time the scree was being shared. It was the correct application. Any thoughts or insights appreciated, thanks! :)

    • @ttvRussell
      @ttvRussell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tina, someone might have accidentally taken over the screen share or turned it off. You have to be careful with Zoom and make sure that only the hosts /co hosts can share and not everyone. Check your settings and make sure only hosts can share.

    • @ttvRussell
      @ttvRussell  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey there! It sounds like you're looking for a simple screen-sharing solution similar to what you had with Join.me. With Zoom, you can still share your screen with one person at a time. Instead of a free link, you can schedule a one-on-one meeting and invite the person directly. During the meeting, you can share your screen, and they'll be able to see it. The camera image feature is also available; you just need to make sure your camera is turned on before sharing your screen. Give it a try, and let me know if you have any questions! 😊

    What exactly can be the danger of screen sharing. Does screen sharing allow someone to access your computer? And if I screen share a document can someone steal it, as in an original script creation?

    • @ttvRussell
      @ttvRussell  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not a security expert, so I honestly don't know the answer. One danger though is that you accidentally share something you didn't want people to see or you get confused by what you are actually sharing and what you think you are sharing. That was the reason for the video because it often happens.
