  • A single day ascent of The Brothers on June 4, 2023. One of the best views I have experienced thus far. Enjoy.

Awesome! You’re absolutely right, I can see the Brothers from my street. Super fun to see your perspective, nicely done.

Great video! I love the area of this hike. It is kinda my backyard. So many great hikes in the south east corner of the Olympics! I camped at Lena Lake when I climbed The Brothers. A great hike I did last year was from Lena Lake to Upper Lena Lake over St Peter's gate on Mt Stone to Lake of the Angels. Once one gets to LOA, one has access to the whole of Olympic National Park. A hike I would like to do again then connecting to Six Ridge and exiting the mountains via South Fork Skokomish. Thanks again for sharing!

Thank You Tom. In hindsight we should have camped at Lena Lake to knock some miles off on summit day. I would love to explore more in this corner of the Peninsula. Looks like a lot of traverses and cross-country potential. I have listened to a lot of old timers talk about Scout Lake. I can see Six Ridge from the Elma farm and it is on my list as well. Hopefully you get the chance to hike it.

What a view!! Hope I can get over to the Olympics some day. Of course, I'll watch your videos for the peak bagging, but I would love to walk through some of those majestic valleys you got to see from above.

Thank You. You would do well in the Olympics. The Olympics are like a radial bike wheel. Each spoke is a different river valley that originates in the center. Each river valley has its own flavor and is a little different from the next. If I was to recommend one it would be the East Fork of the Quinault. Lots of beautiful spots along that river.

Did you end up using any of your ropes / climbing gear? (Other than the ice axe/ snow stuff) Or was it not necessary?

We used axes and crampons the entire time. Glad I had the rope just incase one of use needed a belay. A group in front of us, on the descent, had a member fall head first down the chute, loose her axe, and crash into the rocks. Her hand and fingers were dislocated and shins pretty bloodied. Hope they got out ok. Witnessing the aftermath of this accident got me thinking about these "easy" climbs and how they can go wrong very fast.

I used a GoPro. A little different from my usual Nikon but the Nikon has audio that does not work anymore.
